McCain Camp Jabs Media with New Credentials
July 23, 2008 8:32 AM
ABC News' Bret Hovell Reports: The McCain campaign had a small bit of fun in store for the press corps traveling with the presumptive Republican nominee Tuesday night â a press credential playing on one of their themes from Tuesday: that the media is in love with McCain's Democratic rival, Sen. Barack Obama.
After the campaign touched down in Wilkes-Barre, PA, Tuesday evening, the press staff handed out the credential.
Next to a picture of the Statue of Liberty, the credential reads: "McCain Press Corps: JV Squad. 'Left behind to report in America.'"
The reference is to Obama's overseas trip, on which his entire press corps is traveling.
McCain' campaign has been playing a bit of blame-the-media this week, accusing press outlets of favoritism toward Obama, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee.
Earlier Tuesday, McCain's staff put out a YouTube video of journalists seeming to fawn over Obama.
The campaign also asked supporters to log onto its website to pick a theme song to describe the so-called love affair between the press and Obama.
When the fake press credentials distributed Tuesday night, McCain's traveling press had a good laugh, enjoying the joke.

Obama and his campaign of fear.
Obama has one-upped McCain's bluff to win in Iraq by raising the prospect of an even more deadly quagmire in Afghanistan.

Vote for Obama to end the disastrous war.
Well, think again, and get ready for an escalation of the Other Wars if Obama gets elected – the one in Afghanistan and Pakistan. Now we will be fighting WARS with at least 3 countrys.

Obama's childish electoral rhetoric of ‘end the war’ which worked so well with the easily pleased and naive moveon.org crowd.
Is that same moveon.org crowd still with Obama on his stance on Afghanistan and a Pakistan invasion.

That's the way to cozy up to the media. Insult their objectivity and those who are indeed "left behinds" to report on McCain. Dumb, dumb, dumb...
McCain needs to see the Katie Couric/Obama clip and the edits that kept him from being humiliated.

Obama has no intention of getting the US out of the Middle East.
Clinton really should run as a third candidate now with the promise to really get us out of all conflicts in the Middle east.

The guy is sounding increasingly shrill. He's jumped the shark basically.
John/Jeb 08!

JFK's bungled summit led to our involvement in Vietnam.
Now Obama will lead want to lead us down the same bungling path in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

In McSame's next life, he is going to be as succesful as Barack is. Don't cry there is hope :-)

MCain wants more coverage and I sure hope they give it to him.
It was a nice start on CBS, where McCain tried to change the history of the surge!
More coverage, more coverage!!

John
It's the message duh...not the messengers.
Posted by: dl | Jul 23, 2008 9:15:04 AM
Obama is acting like a President and McCain is acting like a spoiled kid trying to get more attention.

Nobama,
I hope the media REALLY starts covering McCain much, much more! It will expose him to be the out of touch, confused candidate that we have all expected him to be.

Nobama
It may be that the media all went to school and so they have an idea of the facts that work and advance us...and those that don't.
It is the message that is the problem...not the messengers.
Cover all of the leaders on either side of the middle eastern meeting in one week with one candidate (the trip that John McCain pushed him to go on)
or John McCain gathering with 30 or so planted old people around a picnic table in Maine complaining about the guy who is meeting with the worlsd leaders?
they chose the former...and you are complaining about that?
and there is the problem with many of Americans view of the press...lol

rodney,
McCain has been a Senator for several years plus he served the military for years. He's not just any military man. Obama is a senator for barely 2 years since 2004. The rest of his 1.5 years were spent on campaign trail.

A sense of humor is a sign of intelligence.
This cracked me up, as did the videos the McCain campaign made about how the press is fawning and swooning and making fools of themselves over obama.
Oddly, obama has yet to make a funny joke. Oh, that's right - HE IS THE JOKE!
Posted by: Foodforthought | Jul 23, 2008 10:16:01 AM
The McSames are sounding more desperate and acting like scared little kids. McBush goes overseas and no one really cares coz there's nothing new he's bringing to the table. Whereas Obama visits foreign countries and the whole world cheers him. Now, I've heard the McSame campaign saying, "I don't know if people in Missouri would appreciate Obama being cheered by thousands of Europeans.". Well, what they don't appreciate is their President being so reckless that the country's image is so thrashed out and as a result the only thing he receives is protests.
All things considered, there is one equation that's coming out more and more vividly by the day:
McCain and his policies = OLD and WEAK!

Come on media please give mccain real coverage, Please let the people really see the real mccain and why WE SHOULD NOT VOTE FOR HIM!!!!1

Neil1785
