MoveOn Ad Uses Humor on MTV, Comedy Central
July 28, 2008 3:37 PM
ABC News' James Gerber Reports: The liberal political action group MoveOn.org has released a new television ad aimed at increasing youth turnout and mobilizing young voters around the presidential campaign of Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill.
The pro-Obama spot, titled "It Could Happen To You," was named the funniest video in the organization's recent "Obama in 30 Seconds" ad contest and will air for a week starting Wednesday, July 30 on MTV and Comedy Central.
The ad, produced by former "Boy Meets World" star Rider Strong, is styled like a public health spot. "I never thought it could happen to me," begins a young man. "This could happen to anybody," relates another. What, exactly, have these young adults contracted?
"Hope."
MoveOn will spend $150,000 to run the ad on the two cable stations.
The ad is in part a response to the airing of an anti-Obama ad by conservative group Let Freedom Ring on MTV last week. Titled "Both Ways Barack," the attack ad accused Obama of what it calls a history of taking opposing positions on the same issue. It was the first the political ad to air on MTV in the station's 27-year history, running for three days on MTV, as well as VH1, MSNBC, CNN and Fox News.
Watch the ad here.

McCain leads with LIKELY voters. Barack can lead all he wants with random people, but LIKELY VOTERS is what counts baby.
Even NYT liberal writer (aren't they all?) Adam Nagourney writes and asks why isn't Obama higher in the polls?
LOVE IT!!!

Jo, Jo, Jo...
The Obama, DNC et al voter push hasn't even hit full stride yet, so today's likely voters are just an Nth of what they will be come November 4th. And when the well-informed, politically astute folks replace the know-nothings that have kept Bush in office the last eight years, and would like to see McSame replace him, we'll see an Obama landslide.
You heard it here first. McSame won't even win Arizona!

Mccain is not a good choice, but between Obama and Mccain, I would rather pick the one , who would put his life to defend the country, then the one who .......you know the rest.

Thia ad is a joke, just like Obama. It is not witty, funny or even satire, just stupid for stupid supporters.

Why isn't ABC headlining this news?
McCain ahead in new poll
July 28, 2008 04:19 PM
While most national polls show Democrat Barack Obama with a single-digit edge over Republican John McCain, a new survey out this afternoon shows McCain surging into the lead.
The USA Today/Gallup poll has McCain ahead 49 percent to 45 percent among likely voters after picking up 10 percentage points over the last month.

HOW COME THIS HUMAN GAFFE MACHINE GET A FREE PASS.
George Mason University has done research that suggest that Obama gets twice the negative press as McCain and yet Obama is ahead in the polls.
SO I ASK AGAIN.... HOW COME THIS HUMAN GAFFE MACHINE WHO ...OH BY THE WAY... SAYS IN THE BEGINNING THAT HE WOULD NOT RUN A NEGATIVE CAMPAIGN.
if flip flopping was an olympic even the would be in Beijing right now going for the gold

chattyway
you are on crack.
Obama did not snub the troops. He was with the troops during the whole trip. That ad McDumass put out was absolutely despicable. He even used the photo of Obama playing ball with the troops to say that he was not with the troops. Only some as confused as McCain could release an ad such as that. November can not get here soon enough so that this melanoma face freak can fade away.
His below the belt tactics make him look like a mean old geezer fussing about everything.

Steve,
What a babble-head type of post!!! Check out Gallup daily tracking:
July 19 - 45/43 Obama
July 20 - 45/42 Obama
July 21 - 47/41 Obama
July 22 - 45/42 Obama
July 23 - 46/42 Obama
July 24 - 45/43 Obama
July 25 - 47/41 Obama
July 26 - 48/41 Obama
July 27 - 49/40 Obama
July 28 - 48/40 Obama
That 49/45 was a USA Today poll of a smaller number of "likely" voters. Please, I just blasted Michael Medved on this same issue ON AIR today!!! I guess, if you reduce the number of samples from 2674 to 791 John McCain actually leads in a poll. Not likely to happen in "real" life. The numbers of voters, especially given the enthusiasm amongst Democrats this year, will go UP UP UP!!!

Geez, FOX Noise had to of put out a memo to the doltz today...GET ME A DAMN POLL THAT SAYS JOHN MCCAIN IS LEADING AFTER BARACK OBAMA'S SUCCESSFUL TRIP ABROAD. ANY OLL, I DON'T CARE IF IT'S A INSIGNIFICANT LEAD (by the way, the margin of error in that pol is...you guess it 4 points!!!). Those are not the facts. You have to do more than skim the surface.

That geezer needs all the help he can get. Polls are so overrated right now. After the conventions you will see the true numbers.

ha, ha, ha... if Obama can activate the 21 to 30-something crowd, he'll have a SURGE that will make the McCain crowd spin their heads as they try to Google what "WTF" means and they'll have to acknowledge what a Young American Voter Surge is and what its success means.

The McCain crowd, a day late and a dollar short, will be stuck in a Google world, when everyone else has moved on to CUIL. It's gonna be CUIL for them to Google WTF!!!

MoveOn.org has no credibility. Anyway, teenagers can't vote.

Jane,
What planet do you live on? Eight-teen year olds...WOW, I guess you're not a teen anymore...Nine-teen year olds...No Way, are you still a teen???...HAVE THE RIGHT TO VOTE!!! I guess that's why Re-pukes miss a whole block of constituents...THEY HAVE NO IDEA THERE ARE TEEN AGERS THAT CAN VOTE!!!

If you want to hide something from McOld, just put it online. He is so out of touch he has yet to use the internet. Even GWB had two internets.

This is a very good add. Positive and uplifting. It also shows reality. In contrast RNC, 527s, and Mccain campain are fooling the voters. Everybody knows that Mccain is the worst flip flopper. They don't have a morale right to run an add to show that Barrack is a flip flopper. Frankly speaking these RNC, 527s, and Mccain campain are thugs. They are spreading false rumors and false accusations to steal the votes of the people. But I believe this time the American people will not be deceived and this thugs will go to hell.

Reading these posts are really the highlight of my day. You Obamacons are something else! Obama is a loser and will continue to lose in the polls. With his "rock" star attitude, answer me this....why in the hell isn't he beating McCain by a landslide now in the polls? The reason...America does not want Obama as Prez....he's a liar, inexperienced, and waaaaay to arrogant. I love it that he just can't seem to beat John McCain. Reminds me of the story of the tortoise and the hare......Obama being the hare...slow and steady wins the race, thank you Mr. McCain, America wants YOU for our President. Now, repeat after me, Obamacons, "Welcome, President John McCain!"
