New JibJab Video Enters 2008 Campaign

ABC News' Sara Just reports: Just as the campaign between Barack Obama and John McCain settled into serious disputes about Iraq policy and economic recovery plans, this year's 2008 JibJab campaign video is HERE.

Jib Jab is the video satire website best known for its 2004 presidential campaign video sung to the tune of "This Land is Your Land" (John Kerry and George Bush singing: "You're a pinko commie…You’re right awing nut job…").

The 2008 campaign video "Time for Some Campaignin" (to the tune of Bob Dylan’s "The Times They Are a Changin") pokes fun at Obama as a unicorn-rider living in a fantasy land and McCain as a cranky senior citizen obsessed with war.

But perhaps this year’s presumptive party nominees just aren’t funny enough to sustain a full two-minutes of satire. The video spends almost as much time having fun with a few of JibJab’s favorite targets: President George Bush, Vice President Dick Cheney, and both Hillary and Bill Clinton.

The JibJabbers, founders and brothers Evan and Gregg Spiridellis, may have launched the trend of highly produced, online campaign video spoofs, but they no longer have the monopoly. This campaign season has already seen a variety of viral online videos mocking the candidates, from the Obama girl video and its many imitators, to the Star Wars themed "The Empire Strikes Back."

And to think, it’s only July.

Most literate people know the admonition regarding ignorance and the repetition of history (mistakes). What is going on in the USA is the repetition of European history from 1918 to 1945, from democracy to Fascism plus a major Roman economic historical mistake. So, think about the following quotes: "Stupidity breeds ignorance, ignorance doesn't breed stupidity but it does lead to servitude and slavery", "The perpetuation of ignorance is stupidity", and the bumper sticker "Politically Correct Means Stupid". Therefore, it would be wise to check the 'Facts'; a fact is that which is observable and measurable, i.e., verifiable.

Oh, no! Another cartoon. How did it come to this. We have to stop the old politics and move on: No more nuclear weapons and keep cartoons limited to Disney.

Everyone knows when the Dems are in the hotseat- their only concern is raising taxes for the poor and middle-class and stealing change for their in house leaders. It is known and documented that under the Repub party taxes are less than under the Dems. Check under Slick Willy compared to George of the Jungle- taxes were higher under Willy- What makes you think that OB won't do the same- he's already said he would- he will give any kind of promise to get in(like all candidates) but I and many people know that once he's in, he will do what the others have done-he will raise the bar on taxes. Those figures were sent to me-and I have no reason to believe that as a Dem he will not do as the other Dem's before him.

Jid-Jab hit's the nail on the head, too funny. You people take this far to seriously. Watch the video and stop spit'n venom for 3 minutes.

I agree with you mikewolf9, this is supposed to be something we should laugh about. The seriousness of this election is too much that even a joke, well intentioned or not, is suspect to volatile criticism. And the context of the comments is trending towards taxation?

The take on from jib-jab was hilarious. Let's all take a deep breath and enjoy a moment of it.
