Obama Considering Larger Denver Stage
July 04, 2008 10:52 PM
When Sen. Barack Obama makes history and accepts his party's presidential nomination in Denver, he may choose to leave the convention arena behind to do so.
Democrats familiar with convention planning tell ABC News that Obama may seek out a bigger venue from which he will deliver his acceptance speech. The Obama campaign is considering having the Senator deliver his convention speech from Invesco Field's Mile High Stadium in Denver instead of the Pepsi Center - where the rest of the convention is scheduled to take place. No official plans have been anounced from the campaign or the Democratic National Committee as of yet.
The Illinois Senator certainly knows how to give a well received speech to a crowd of 20,000 or so inside a basketball/hockey arena such as the Pepsi Center. In fact, it was such a speech that catapulted Sen. Obama into the national consciousness in 2004 at the Democratic convention in Boston.
But Mile High Stadium, which can hold approximately 76,00 people, may be preferable to the Democratic seeking maximum send-off into the general election. Sen. Obama, the first African American presidential nominee of a major party in history, is expected to deliver his acceptance speech on Thursday August 28 -- the 45th anniversary of Martin Luther King, Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech.
The Democratic National Convention is scheduled to take place in Denver from August 25 through August 28.

sorry the race based accusations are old and stupid. the only folks playing the race card are obama supporters-who blame every one who does not support your leader as being racist. and the 90% A.A who voted for obama that was racism. get over the victimization sweetie.

Obama is not an African-American, according to the law. He is an Arab-American. Do your homework.

That's funny. "When" he accepts the nomination?
Hillary will be our nominee.

Heard that the republicans (small r's) and their RNC are bitterly upset over the possibility that a Pres Obama may change the timetable for bringing the troops back home - within 16 months of assuming office.
Apparently they abhor - and confused - McFlipFlop's swagger(flip) never to surrender and then guarantee(flop) to bring the troops home by 2013 - no matter what.
Imagine Karl Rove as a closet Obamabot! [And he better stay closeted too!]

the military brass has stated that logistically it is not possible to meet a 16 month scenario for withdrawal. we will likely not see a withdrawl at all. the u.s did not invest in the largest embassy in the world (larger than the vatican) just to walk away-our military presence in the middle east will not end regardless of who we elect. that is a sad reality, very, very, sad.

"I've always said that the pace of withdrawal would be dictated by the safety and security of our troops and the need to maintain stability. That assessment has not changed," said Obama. "And when I go to Iraq and have a chance to talk to some of the commanders on the ground, I'm sure I'll have more information and will continue to refine my policies."

WestCoastMessenger:
"I dare Obama to openly admit that he has reversed his pledge on Iraq .."
Let us assume that you comprehend the meaning of the specific words you use.
Where do you see a "reversal"?
Has Sen Obama said that he will NOT pull out the troops after all?
Sen Obama originally said that he will consult with the troops on the ground to ensure an orderly withdrawal. Has Sen Obama said that now he is for a "disorderly withdrawal"? Where did you read that?
Suppose that it takes us less than 16 months to completely withdraw our troops from Iraq. Will you be upset? Will the soldiers and their families be upset?
You may NOT care for the facts. Even so, if you don't know what Sen Obama actually said then I refer you to the following link:

I'm glad to see Obama shifting his position in order to represent ALL Americans and not just the left wing of his party.
And I'm additionally happy that he's capable of assessing new information and shifting his choices accordingly; not sticking rigidly by a failed policy.

Obama's speech will be more uplifting to listen to and watch, wherever it is, than anything bumbling king george has ever said in his entire reign of terror.

Let's keep this in perspective. A charismatic outsider with a large group of fanatic disciples preaching 'change' and 'unity' has historically brought human suffering. Don't make Obama a demagogue.

Good gracious, this guy is arrogant. He's starting to remind me of Bush.

When Obama gave his victory speech in Minnesota at the SITE OF THE REPUBLICAN CONVENTION, the place was overflowing with people! The convention center was full, and there were almost as many people outside the center that couldn't get in!
In the Democratic Convention, the same is expected to happen. The convention center is too small for that - so a bigger place is needed. Take that as you will, Obama has a HUGE following!
No matter what, Obama's acceptance speech will be history in the making. All major news media will be there, and all of America will be able to watch the historical event! (I have heard Faux News may not be invited, but then, they are a minor player anyway.)
This will be an event to watch! This will be an event to participate in! This will be a new page of history!

What a cocky individual. Will he also be giving host and wine during his service. I think he is trying to outdo the Pope. Good luck brother. Your an idiot!!!! Mr. flip-flopper!!!!!

I'm not surprised that Obama feels he needs such a large venue. He is after all a megalomaniac.
The question is, who's going to bring him back to earth?

I'm a Hillary supporter........
I got a question:
-----------------
Is it true:if you use
THE WRITE-IN HILLARY FOR PRESIDENT
your vote goes to Obama????????
Posted by: REDNECK | Jul 5, 2008 11:01:33 AM
Yes he can get a 50 to 70 thousand people and they can chant "Yes, We Can". No substance needed behind that statement, No need to tell anyone where you really stand, but of course, OBAMA doesn't know where he stands anyway. Just get the crowd and beat the drums and chant and that will sway the voters of America! OBAMA thinks so little of the people in this nation. Some people are like those animals that all dash off the cliff together in a wild frenzy, but most American's cherish this country and know how long and how many lives were given in order to achieve what we have. They will do the right thing.

Knowing Obama's tendency to change his mind, probably he may want to give his speech from his Living Room. Who knows? With Obama, you cannot trust him to stick to any one thought or position. He changes according to his political benefits. That is a change you can count on.
Posted by: Roger Miller | Jul 5, 2008 11:33:47 AM
Roger Miller - "With Obama, you cannot trust him to stick to any one thought or position." - I know, let's elect a President who won't change his position no matter what the facts are or what changes. No wait, we already have that. lol
Posted by: jmengate | Jul 5, 2008 11:36:49 AM
Roger Miller,
I would rather have a President that can listen to advisors and change his position accordingly. If Bush had actually listened to his advisors telling him there were NO WMD's in Iraq, we would not be in this illegal and immoral war. Bush said he was the "Decider In Chief". How has THAT worked out?
Posted by: Jeanne from Michigan | Jul 5, 2008 11:40:27 AM
Jeanne from Michigan - You are so spot on. What in the heck do these people think Senator Obama is going to Iraq for? Of course it's to get more facts and to talk to the people on the ground, something any reasonable person would do. And with more facts he may adjust his position accordingly. Bush plowed on ahead even though the facts were exactly opposite of what he was saying. It's refreshing to see a leader like Obama who is willing to get more information so that he can make his decisions accordingly.
