Obama Raises $52 Million in June
July 17, 2008 7:26 AM
ABC News' Rick Klein Reports: In an email to supporters this morning, Sen. Barack Obama's presidential campaign announced the presumptive Democratic nominee raised $52 million in the month of June.
The $52 milllion the Obama raised in June -- the month the primary campaign ended -- is a far bigger haul than the "only" $22 million he raised in May, his worst fundraising month of the year. It approaches but not does exceed his record $55 million in February.
Earlier this month, Republican presidential nominee John McCain announced his June fundraising numbers: $22 million, McCain's best fundraising month of the year.

I have not heard of one person that is going to vote for Obama, nor have I spoken to one that has contributed to his campaigns. Where IS his money coming from?

I don't believe a word of it. Why didn't they tell it in June. This is the middle of July. We all know that John McCain had more donations in June than Obama. His campaign appears to build up Obama. Obama has campaign liars like himself. But I think that will all come to an end if Hillary's voters are smart enough to vote for McCain or write her name in. He is taking two people with him to Iraq because he doesn't understand foreign policy and they do but he is a good pretender. What a disaster this country will be in if he is elected.

These neocons are quite a depraved group. The sun had set on them. What a bunch of low lives.

toothchipper: We are laughing now because Obama did not get $52,000 in June. Its a made up story made up to the public. Obama's campaigner's are a bunch of liars and fakes like himself. He doesn't know what the truth is. Why then didn't they announce it in June? Because he didn't have it.

Any Democrat who will vote for John McCain and another four years of Bush tax cuts, banking deregulation, crumbling infrastructure, torture, unfunded education mandates, military adventurism, and censorship of the scientific community is either not a true Democrat or else is a bigot.

Thank you for your comment Grunt it was spot on. Emma, get a life. I know lots of Hillary supporters who are not voting for Obama. When I go in the booth it will be for John McCain. Take that from an Illinoian who saw Obama do NOTHING for Illinois except use its senate seat for the presidency. At least Hillary actually accomplished things as New York senator and was one for longer than two years, both of Obamas which he spent campaigning.

Sooner or later we will find out that Obama is using questionable tactics to raise his money. Obama uses questionable tactics in everything he does. Whay has Obama done for his electorate? What has Obama done for the African American community? Obama walks away from his votes and positions on issues every time his positions pose a threat to him. He walks away from his church and his friends too. Obama gets people to contribute to his campaign much like an evangelist does. Lots of threats, promises and magical healings. Hillary was and is our only real chance to overcome years of republican abuses.

Obama lied last week, he said he brought in 30 million.
Guess that FISA vote got the telecoms to contribute bigtime.
Wonder how his supporters feel about being LIED to ..

==is either not a true Democrat or else is a bigot.==
So since I am African American and not voting for Obama I suppose that makes me the former. Or am I am black bigot? Or both? What is a "true democrat" do tell? And how can you tell if Obama is one since he flip flops on issues so much?
Obamabots love to call names. Yet when the New Yorker cover came out they were crying bloody murder.

My whole family, my entire life, we have always been democrats. Daddy contributed time and money as a union official and personally. For the first time, I watched my dad write a check to a republicanc this year. Daddy says that Obama does not come from the same place as traditional democrats and asked how can our family seperate Obama from his hate filled church and friends?

I feel the New orker cover accurately depicts what many people fear. For someone who wants the top spot so badly, Obama has made a lot of bad choices. I don't like the war but I also don't like Americans that don't love the country enough to wear a flag pin and cover their heart during the pledge. I don't think it is funny that many of our nations enemies support this man. FFirst I was going to vote for Hillary, next i decided to stay home, now I have decided to vote for McCain. I feel our party has been taken over by special interests and can't believe the Clintons have joined in.

I am a Marine home on leave and my experience and feelings are pretty much the same as grunts. This will be my first election and I will break with family tradition and vote for mcCain. I believe much of my family will also.

Obama needs every penny of it.
He needs the PR and marketing of himself, and to keep his mind condtioning techniques and reinforcements out to the public, constantly for it to work.
That is a costly endeavor. Plus His pricy staff, and the new people he has hired. Plus to have surplus to take over the democratic party.
When in the present state of this country. The people are stuggling to survive, people losing thier homes, having a hard time feeding themselves, Mr Obama is so full of Pride that he can gather so much Money to blow promoting himself. Making a public Display of himself.
He is not in a race to Do the Best for the country or the people. He is in a race for himself to make history and do as he pleases. He does not care about you or me or the country. He only cares About Barack Obama and what matters to him.
Evident by what he says, His deeds and how he acts and portrays himself. It is definitely all about him. Nothing to do with Country, Honor or Loyalty.
He will not change, His greed, His seeking power will only grow stonger and deeper.

Man, the NeoConservatives are back on the warpath.
Last week they were gloating that McCain raised $22M and was catching up with Obama. They said Obama’s fundraising was out of gas. He had peaked early.
Now they are complaining that Obama is getting money from little old ladies and fat cats.
You all complained when Senator Obama opted out of public financing.
At that time, Obama accurately told us that McCain would be able to supplement his "public" financing with party and special interest money. And then we learned that the Republican Party expects to raise $400M to try to defeat Obama, despite McCain’s lackluster financial support among us regular Americans.
John Kerry got bushwhacked in 2004 by Bush’s special interest money, and McCain has the same plan this time around.
Unfortunately for you NeoCons and John McCain, Obama is one step ahead of you.
Obama intends to be financially competitive, and he is doing it through millions of small donations. And most of those donations are coming from regular people, including me.
I’m gonna continue giving his campaign $100 to $200 each month until he is elected President.
In fact, I think I’ll fork over another hundred bucks right now. Having a strong and respected President like Obama is worth it.
Thank you for the extra motivation.

NOTE to NeoCons: Please stop pretending to be Hillary supporters.
There is too much nasty stuff on this and other blogs that is allegedly written by supporters of Senator Clinton.
I am pretty sure that most of this junk is posted by conservative operatives who are trying to sow seeds of discontent.
You know, they say something really nasty or negative, supposedly on behalf of Senator Obama or Senator Clinton, in order to upset the other side.
However, if you are a Clinton or Obama supporter, please don’t fall for this disinformation campaign and respond negatively.
Let's keep our eye on the ball folks.
John McCain was one of the principal advocates for the war in the first place, even though he has been critical of President Bush’s conduct of the Iraq War in recent years.
As a leading Republican Senator, John McCain could have impeded the Iraq war. Instead, John McCain and George Bush started a war that did not need to be fought – that Iraq war caused the deaths of more than 4,000 American soldiers and wasted more than $1 Trillion that imperils the American economy.
Senator McCain is also opposed to a woman’s right to choose, and he would be appointing Supreme Court Justices during the next four years. Vote for John McCain, and say goodbye to Roe v. Wade.
Now, you can vote for John McCain out of spite. That is one way to go. Generally, Hillary supports Obama because she believes in the same fundamental causes.
I trust that you will support your candidate based primarily on their respective positions on the issues that are important to you.
Based on the issues, Obama is a far better choice than McCain.

Any person who claims they were for Hillary and are now for McCain are not and have not ever been Democrats. The entire notion of abandoning what Hillary stands for as a "protest" vote is preposterous. You are obviously Republicans attempting to hide the fact that John Sydney McCain III is the best you could come up with this year an he will lose by a landslide. No one believes you are a Hillary supporter if you claim you can find JSM III palatable. Its nonsense.

"Democrat" isn't really a Democrat. This person is a Republican who is just posturing as a way to seed conflict. There's a lot of that on the boards. The best way to address childish attacks
and the immature namecalling is to return to discussions of factual stances. Of course, there will be some Ds who vote for Senator McCain as there will be some Rs who vote for Senator Obama. I think it's more important to focus on such claims by Sen. McCain that he will balance the budget in 4 years. The ability to accomplish this is highly doubtful since he continues the Iraq War, the borrow and spend policies, and proposes other new expenditures. He proposes to eliminate earmarks but his own party is notorious for these. And, even if he was able to do this, cutting earmarks would not make up for continued spending on Iraq and his plan for a larger commitment to Afganistan.

{Yawn} How typically Republican. You can't prop up your candidate because he is useless, so you use insults to make your point. Boring....Move on.

Wow with so many people hurting in this country still the American public gave 52 million dollars to Senator Obama. That is amazing since Senator Obama does not have a clue how to fix anything. I am sorry I forgot he was a Community Organizer in Chicago and of course that is all the experience needed to fix this country problem.
Senator McCain does not have a clue on how to fix the problems in this country either.
This election your choices are a third term of President George W. Bush or a second term of President Jimmy Carter. The above President is and was the worst presidents in the last forty years.

Ya know, its funny, when reading all these comments by supposed ex Hillary voters for McCain, you have to realize that Obama is leading handily in all major polls.I get the impression that there are a handful of PUMA types (people that vote gender specific over a candidates actual chances of winning)that are frantically posting multiple posts ( sorta like the Ron Paul people did ) trying to make things appear bleak for Obama. These PUMA types (My person with a vagina lost to a person with a penis so I will vote for a different person with a penis)have an odd logic indeed. Obama treated Hillary Clinton very fair and she has asked them to back Obama. I don`t know why they can`t face the fact that Barack Obama won and instead of abandoning the party they should do as Hillary Clinton is asking. There are serious womens issues at stake. It is self defeating to vote for a candidate ( McCain) who has voted anti-female all of his political life than to vote for a candidate that supports womens rights ( Obama)and whose policies favor wage and general equality.
