Team Clinton Gearing Up for 2012?
July 18, 2008 3:58 PM
ABC News' Eloise Harper Reports: Rumors are swirling over whether or not former Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton is secretly planning a run for the presidency in 2012.
Clinton aides have stressed that Sen. Clinton's, D-N.Y., focus now is doing everything she can to help her party's presumptive presidential nominee, Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., emerge victorious in his race for the White House.
However, over the past week several items have piqued the interest of speculators who wonder if Clinton and her team are gearing up for a possible 2012 bid.
This week Clinton sent her donors an email noting that she would welcome contributions of general election funds they donated to her presidential campaign to her 2012 Senate bid. General election funds are traditionally returned to donors if the candidate loses in the primary race. Clinton's campaign is required to return this money to donors by August 28th. With that deadline approaching, Clinton emailed her supporters offering them that option.
The catch? The funds from her Senate account could be transferred into a possible 2012 bid for presidency, if Clinton decides to run.
Today, as first reported by Marc Ambinder, the Markham Group (a firm that directed all of Clinton’s advance work) has purchased the website HRC2012.com. A spokesperson for Senator Clinton denied that this website was at all affiliated with Clinton saying that there were only three websites associated with the former candidate, which include www.HillaryClinton.com, now dedicated to Clinton’s Senate re-election bid; www.Hilpac.com, Clinton's PAC now run by Capricia Marshall, who has worked for the New York Senator for years; and www.contribute.hillarycampaign2008.com, a site solely dedicated to donors who are interested in helping relieve Clinton's Senate debt.
For those Clinton supporters interested in the possibility of a Clinton run in 2012, there are "Hillary Clinton 2012" t-shirts on sale. The company Skreened is selling the shirts for $23.39.
Spokesperson Mo Elleithee attempting to debunk the rumors that Clinton is preparing for a 2012 run said to ABC News, "The only 2012 race she is interested in is her Senate reelection bid."

Jane Hussein. Why don't you run. You seem to have the answer to everything? Just keep talking like Jesse and the REPUBLICANS will WIN by a bigger margin than I expect them to WIN by in November. If Obama isn,t killed and returns from his ROOTS after this trip, I predict he'll be so confused and nervous that he'll need you,re expert advice. I sure hope so!!

Since Hillary had 18 Million voters, if they each sent her a dollar it would certainly help lilquidate her debt very quickly. Quite evident she did not have that many voters. I assume most of those people were McCain backers trying to oust Obama! It did not work!Go Hillary fans send in the $1.00 so she does not have to sell T-Shirts! LOL

GEE, where have we heard that before? Isn't that exactly what she said in 2006?
Look Hillary will throw Obama under the bus the first chance she gets, just like she did to John Kerry in 2004.
She didn't care that that would mean the country would have to put up with Bush for an additional 4 years. She was planning to run in 2008 and felt that was her due and she wasn't going to let Kerry get in the way.
She knew if he won, he likely would be reelected in 2008 and she would miss her chance.
Hillary is all about Hillary's claim to fame.

It seems like Clinton knows Obama is going to lose

What's the point she still won't even make it out of the primary.. But this is just crap for the media to make a buck over. You guys need to report news

Do people really think that she'll have the support she'll need to win in 2012? People keep talking about she got 18 million votes, well, so did Senator Obama. Guess what, just as he needs her supporters now, should he lose (which I doubt), she'll need them. 18 million is not enough to win a general election. While you are thinking that you ruining Senator Obama's chances, you're actually ruing her chances in the future.

Funny the Condi Rice headline before this has only 5 comments, but anything with Hillary in it, gets 10 times the comments. Love her or hate her (and I'm a fan) she keeps politics interesting, because she is the smartest woman in politics today and I'd trust her over all the other candidates (I'm o.k. with McCain too).
I just hate tho that she and Bill have to look like they're supportive of BO, when I know they have to hold their noses whenever they're around him and play the game.

I think Obama should pick Jesse Jackson to be his VP.

Run Hill run...by 2012, if Bam Bam does win in 2008- He will have destroyed this country and we will be on our way to being a 3rd rate power ... so we will need Hillary to govern our return to prominence. Bam Bam will sell us out to the Middle East the first chance he can get away with it...stop him now....

I think you all will be spitting up blood when Obama takes the oath of office on January 20, 2009. He will be our greatest President of our generation.

Yup! Hillary in 2012...No doubt about it, so buy a tee-shirt and move on!

what the blinded by perceived slight crowd cannot see is that in their zeal to "right" the wrong they believe was done to their goddess, they are actually undermining her future viability as a candidate.
keep it up PUMA, eventually she'll be running for a house seat in Westchester... and trailing.

really make me glad that I am not a Hillary supporter. They are some deranged and sad people.
Posted by: Jane Hussein | Jul 18, 2008 6:23:23 PM
The only sad thing I see here are people who think that Obama is going to change anything. If he gets elected you Obamabots will be sadly disappointed he isn't what you thought he was.

This is what the Clinton supporters have been praying for. Vote for McCain so Hillary will run in 2012! Obama is to much of an inexperienced whiner and his wife - oy.

amazed08....you're right...COUNTRY FIRST THEN PARTY. Too bad McCain couldn't partner with Hillary for his VP. I'm happy with either. Call me crazy, but I want to lay my head down at night with some feeling of security when our next President takes office. I could never do that with the BIG QUESTION MARK Obama is. He is not worthy. Not now, not ever. ALL AMERICAN McCAIN OR HILLARY!
