Chelsea Clinton to Narrate Tribute Video

August 25, 2008 6:58 PM

ABC News' Eileen Murphy reports: Longtime Clinton family friends, Linda Bloodworth-Thomason and Harry Thomason (best known as the creators of TV's "Designing Woman") have put together a five- to six-minute tribute video, which will serve as the introduction to Senator Hillary Clinton's, D-N.Y., remarks to the Democratic convention Tuesday night.

Sources close to Clinton say that her daughter Chelsea will narrate the short film.  And if the video is any indication, it sounds like the Tuesday night Hillary show may have a unifying tone.

Reached by phone today, Linda Bloodworth-Thomason said that the film -- which she explained is much shorter than any of the films she has made for the Clintons -- is really an "homage to Hillary."

"This is really about her journey so far, and the journey is not over. This is a reminiscence of her journey on the campaign trail, what her goals are, and her relationship to the people she met," said Bloodworth-Thomason, who added that there is "quite a bit about women and the generational aspect of this journey -- what it means for the daughters."

Indeed, Bloodworth-Thomason said that the tribute reflects on the transfer of values that was passed down from Hillary's mother, Dorothy Rodham -- down to her, and down to Chelsea.  Former President  Bill Clinton also appears in the video.

So, is this a unifying piece of work?  Bloodworth-Thomason said that it was, indeed, and that "there is a nod to Obama," in the video.

There should be a give or take nod to Big O. He deserves it!

I love Hillary Clinton.

Obama is grossly under-qualified to run the country. I would have voted for a more experienced candidate but Obama has a lot of work to do.

Democrat for McCain.

What a shame. A nomination stolen by an Affirmative Action phony.

I hope someone like Hillary will be president some day.

HE DIDN'T WIN, THE DNC GAVE IT TO HIM. HE WAS ALWAYS WEAK AND NOW THE REAL VOTERS GET TO VOTE. OBAMA WAS NEVER STRONG, NEVER QUALIFIED AND BECAUSE HE LET HIS GIANT EGO GET IN THE WAY OF HIS DECISION, WILL SURELY LOSE WITH BIDEN.

FUNNY, SOME WANT HILLARY TO SUPPORT OBAMA UNCONDITIONALLY, SO WHERE IS HIS SUPPORT OF HER????

AND WHY DIDN'T THE DNC WANT HER ON THE TICKET. YOU PICK THE #2 PERSON B/C THEY CAN BRING IN THE VOTES AND HELP TO WIN THE TICKET, BUT OBAMA AND THE DNC THINK THEY CAN WIN W/O HER. DON'T FORGET, OBAMA SAID EARLY IN JUNE HE DIDN'T NEED MICHIGAN AND FLORIDA TO WIN B/C HE'S SO DAMN COCKY....WE'LL SEE WON'T WE.

MCCAIN IN 4, HILLARY IN 2012!!!

I agree with most of these arguments supporting Hillary as the best candidate; however, we MUST vote for Obama now or McCain will break America which is more important than any individual candidate.

Hillary in 2012

Isn't anyone concerned about the gossipe and legal case just posited regarding the question of Obama's citizenship?

Or will that be still another fly in the ointment to be covered up with tape until a more "convenient" time?

How much did she have to pay her kid to narrate it? She was the low-bidder? Or there weren't any other bidders?

Chelsea is the perfect advocate for her mother, and she obviously loves and admires Hillary ...she proved that during the primaries. Tuesday is the Women's Suffrage Anniversary, and this will be a nice tribute with mother and daughter!

It hurts to see what appears to be very low enthusiasm by the Democratic delegation for their party's nominee.

Either women are very upset, or Barack Obama is coming to terms with the fact that leading a nation is a big responsibility. But we are in this together, and as a party we can do it. Did Barack Obama forget that?

Sol just asked how much Chelsea was paid to make the video. The Clinton's have decided that in the name of the party, give job opportunities to family members first, so that they can stash more of the money they get from the people of US in their kids piggy bank, which by nw is probably stacked up high in some offshore islands.

What a complete joke Queen Hillary is! She and her rabid out of touch supporters seem to have forgotten that America is not a monarchy. The reign of King Shrub the Second is over. Enough is enough!!!

Poor Barry, he didn't get a bounce after announcing Joe Biden as his VP choice and he won't get one after the convention. Why? Think about it, the media was all over him in Europe, in Hawaii, during his VP selection. What, suddenly the public is supposed to be more interested in an orchestrated convention? Please.

Polls already show that the public has heard more than enough favorable media coverage. This convention may be the first that backfires because of the over-exposed candidate.

I still can't figure out what Hillary did to smash the glass ceiling? I think the only crack (pot) is her. Many women before her were the president's wife and senators. I don't get it. What did she do that was so special (except steal White House property when they left)? I plan NOT to watch her self-grandization tonight - haven't we all had enough?! Ugh!

Hey REPUGS, Stop trying to pretend you are Hillary supporters, everyone seees through you!

I agree that Obama probaly isnt the most qualified politician to take on the highest office in the country, but lets not forget who's been in charge for last 7 yrs. If we managed to survive him, how could someone of a younger age, a Washington outsider & connector of people (you'll see) be so wrong? Hillary & hubby do/did give off a elitest air during primaries..as mentionedd above another monarchy isn't the answer.

This is going to be soooo much fun to watch. The dems are going to realize they chose the wrong guy/gal

If hillary was so qualified, why didn't she convince the superdelegates to back her? They too are tired of Hillary and President Zipper. Go Barack!
