Cindy McCain tells Stephanopoulos that Obama Offended Her

ABC News' George Stephanopoulos reports: Democrats' attacks on her family's wealth are unfair and offensive, Cindy McCain said today in an interview airing tomorrow on "This Week with George Stephanopoulos."

For nearly two weeks, Democrats have repeatedly hit Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., for saying he is unaware of how many houses he owns, calling the presumptive Republican presidential nominee out of touch with everyday Americans.  In his acceptance speech at the Democratic convention on Thursday, Democratic nominee Barack Obama turned up the heat on McCain, saying he "doesn't know" about the lives of middle-class Americans.

"I'm offended by Barack Obama saying that about my husband," said McCain's wife Cindy.
When asked if Obama went too far in his criticism of McCain, Cindy responded, "I do. I do. I really do."

McCain also said beer the distributorship her father built, which is the source of much her family's wealth, typifies the American Dream.

"My father had nothing. He and my mother sold everything they had to raise $10,000," she said. "I'm proud of what my dad and my mother did and what they built and left me.  And I intend to carry their legacy as long as I can."

More of the exclusive interview with Cindy McCain airs tomorrow on "This Week."

UPDATE: The Obama campaign is not backing down. "The fact that John McCain does not know how many houses he owns when millions are struggling to stay in the only house they have shows he's out of touch with the lives of real Americans," said Obama spokeswoman Linda Douglass Saturday afternoon. "McCain is promising to double down on the economic policies of George W. Bush which have benefited corporations and CEO's while leaving middle-class families behind. John McCain just doesn't get it."

Douglass later added that "the issue here isn't the wealth of the McCain family, it's that Senator McCain is out of touch when he says that the fundamentals of our economy are strong' and that the Bush economy has ‘made great progress' when most Americans are actually losing ground."

Obama the whiner complained that no one can make issues out of his American Hating Wife

Obama is offended by people who are living the American dream like Cindy McCain. In Obama's world everybody has to live off the state.

You know Obama wants the failed Communist experiment brought to America.

Who's Whinning?

Poor John, did Obama say a mean thing?

As a new American; I do not want nationalized health care or whatever; I believe in free enterprise!!

I don't think wealth should necessarily be an issue. It CAN make people less aware of how hard some people have it, but that awareness should be judged by a candidate's actions, not his wealth. Voting against the minimum wage so many times sure suggests that McCain doesn't "get it."

As an independent, I was very proud of Obama's speech. He is the only one that understands the horrible deterioration of our country. McCain is truly out of touch. He doesn't know how many houses he has because he doesn't manage his own finances. Fantastic... is Cindy McCain going to be our next Fed chairman and bail out John "I don't know much about economics" McCain.
Vote to save our country. Vote Obama/Biden we don't need more of mcSame.

This woman has an opinion that John McCain allows her to express? I guess if her opinion favors his failing run for the Whitehouse it is allowed.

Geez - it looks like the Obama haters and Republican smear merchants are taking over the ABC blogs. America has had enough of their hate-filled, divisive rhetoric. We have a choice of uniting together now, or failing as a nation. One thing is certain... McCain and the Republican tactics will only keep us fighting against each other until we're ALL doomed. America deserves better than that.

I sure hope she donates money to Alcoholics Anonymous. She surely provides them with customers.

It is clear from several of these comments that McCain has secured the votes of the ignorant and the moronic.
Barack Obama a communist?
Michelle Obama hates herself?
Geeez.

Indulging in a bit too much of the drug that Cindy McCain's family has been peddling?

The Repukelicans are the masters of offensive comments. It's truly absurd that the any of them would take offense at such a minor comment about not getting it.

Poorly little Cindy McCain. Someone hand me a tissue, I can't stop crying.

Palin the Barracuda and McCain the Maverick. Can't get no better than that.

John McCain the next President of the United States.

Obama can be president of some African country if he wants since supposedly the rest of the world loves him

Cindy is definitely living the American 'dream'. She seems to have forgotten two half siblings who were cut out of Daddy's will, that she owns the houses she permits McCain to live in and that her father's money which is paying for their lavish lifestyle actually came from Gus Greenbaum (later murdered)--Meyer Lansky's deputy in Arizona. What a romantic series her life story as the new First Lady will make no doubt exceeding 'The Sopranos' in popularity. 'Daughter of the Mob'.

I got news for you Thinking, you and your ilk are going to be the whiners after we expose Obama for who he really is come next week.

Posted by: jtkuga | Aug 30, 2008 2:29:10 PM

I thought she went to Georgia. I guess Cindy rushed back when John went for the beauty queen runner-up after one meeting.

Posted by: doug | Aug 30, 2008 2:29:21 PM

She's offended? Then stay out of the political kitchen, Cindy. I am offended that McCain hides behind the veil of separate tax returns to keep from disclosing Cindy's tax return and letting us know just how wealthy he really is. And the media just sits there and doesn't bug him about it.

Lots of Republicans are getting on here claiming to be McCain-voting Hillary supporters. I am a registered republican voting for Obama. I can't stand how my party has left the average person behind. Cindy's 'offense' just adds to the disgust.

Obama is such a flop for the Democrats. He should be up by 17 or 18 points now after the convention and he isn't. Now Governor Palin has taken ALL the thunder out of Obama's campaign.

The more Americans discover just who Sarah Palin is the more they like her.

Posted by: mary | Aug 30, 2008 2:30:08 PM

Cindy McCain is a rich witch and adultress. What a whining liar!

She hates America and has no values.

Go take your pain meds, witch.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME???? SERIOUSLY? "Boo hoo, don't be mean to me because I INHERITED wealth? What kind of bizarro world America are we living in? This woman is insane out of her mind.

Posted by: Matt | Aug 30, 2008 2:30:17 PM

Why isn't she complaining about her
husband John 'Rabid' Mccain calling
her a c**t ? Gotta be more offensive
than 'rich'. Or maybe not.
