Cindy McCain tells Stephanopoulos that Obama Offended Her

ABC News' George Stephanopoulos reports: Democrats' attacks on her family's wealth are unfair and offensive, Cindy McCain said today in an interview airing tomorrow on "This Week with George Stephanopoulos."

For nearly two weeks, Democrats have repeatedly hit Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., for saying he is unaware of how many houses he owns, calling the presumptive Republican presidential nominee out of touch with everyday Americans.  In his acceptance speech at the Democratic convention on Thursday, Democratic nominee Barack Obama turned up the heat on McCain, saying he "doesn't know" about the lives of middle-class Americans.

"I'm offended by Barack Obama saying that about my husband," said McCain's wife Cindy.
When asked if Obama went too far in his criticism of McCain, Cindy responded, "I do. I do. I really do."

McCain also said beer the distributorship her father built, which is the source of much her family's wealth, typifies the American Dream.

"My father had nothing. He and my mother sold everything they had to raise $10,000," she said. "I'm proud of what my dad and my mother did and what they built and left me.  And I intend to carry their legacy as long as I can."

More of the exclusive interview with Cindy McCain airs tomorrow on "This Week."

UPDATE: The Obama campaign is not backing down. "The fact that John McCain does not know how many houses he owns when millions are struggling to stay in the only house they have shows he's out of touch with the lives of real Americans," said Obama spokeswoman Linda Douglass Saturday afternoon. "McCain is promising to double down on the economic policies of George W. Bush which have benefited corporations and CEO's while leaving middle-class families behind. John McCain just doesn't get it."

Douglass later added that "the issue here isn't the wealth of the McCain family, it's that Senator McCain is out of touch when he says that the fundamentals of our economy are strong' and that the Bush economy has ‘made great progress' when most Americans are actually losing ground."

ABC News' Sunlen Miller contributed to this report.

Cindy McCain seems to have a better grasp of economic issues than her husband... maybe SHE should be the one running.

Poor me, I'm worth a hundred million dollars...

Obama attacks any success that doesn't rely on government handouts. He figures that's the only way he could get ahead. In his world anyone that succeeds on their own must be "out of touch." Good for the Cindy McCain. Her dad worked hard and did well. I hope I can pass the same on to my kids. After all that's the American dream!

Voting against the minimum wage? One of the best things he could do! You just had your precious minimum wage raised recently...how was this summer for summer jobs for youth? The worst in many years. Just as the opponents of the minimum wage predicted. Let the markets do their job!

I am offended by Cindy - the Adulterous - Drug Addicted wanna be 1st Lady.

John McCain was married and left his wife for this RICH BITCH!

No one wants to be reminded that your husband married you for your MONEY.

But Cindy HONEY - he did.
AND YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELF for FOOLING AROUND WITH HIM WHILE HE WAS STILL MARRIED!

Obama the empty suit can’t win this election. He’s just a narcissist. What a disaster.

Obama never won the primary. Obama stole it from Hillary. The world watched the DNC hand the nomination to Obama by silencing voters.

Obama has destroyed the Democratic Party because of his own self centered narcissist personality.

The media can say what they want about Obama winning the primary but voters know the truth, especially Clinton supporters. Obama ignored voters.

Florida and Michigan will never forget it.

Obama and Michelle were given a second chance to put Hillary on his ticket, but instead chose to hog the glory and embarrass the Democratic Party.

Obama could have won these women over.
Now McCain is winning the Hillary women with his VP pick.

Obama is risky, radical and not a great patriot. Remember: Rezko, (the criminal), Reverend Wright (the anti Semitic racist) and William Ayers ( Obama's coworker = domestic terrorist)

God is watching and the world is staring at our unfair voting process.

The Democratic Party is embarrassing.

Raising the minimum wage has been shown to only reduce the # of jobs available, impacting most those who have the least skills. It's not like employers have a bottomless bucket of cash they are keeping from their employees. Increases in costs are passed to customers. That's called inflation. Then people have to pay more for what they need. It's a non-ending cycle. Minimum wage jobs are not for heads of household.

Why doesn't anyone bring up Obama's drug dealing days? America will be the first country to have a ex drug dealer/ user as a president? I don't think so!

Cindy if you are not embarrassed about your wealth release your income tax info.

The Obamas are rich, too. Their house/mansion was, however, purchased in a politically shady deal with a convicted felon, Tony Rezko. Cindy's dad got his honestly.

As the owner of two houses I can understand losing track after the fourth or fifth. But does it make me out of touch with the middle class worker earning a mere $4 million a year? Of course not, I remember those early days when dad left me only $50 million. I am not jealous that Cindy got $100 from her dad - it is the American dream (to inherit).

I know, saying McCain is out of touch is WAY WORSE than saying Obama would rather win a campaign than a war. I guess Bush betrayed us all by negotiating that timetable with Iraq, too?

About one month ago Obama made a stern call for the press and the opposition to not include or refer to Michelle. I believe his words were "hands off". Cindy McCain has not been in the public eye making speeches, let alone taking it upon herself to make controversial remarks. So, Ms. McCain has a point here, and Obama set the standard, which she has a right to expect.

It's one thing being thankful of what you have and being concerned about what's going on in America

its another not having a clue of how many houses you have and be so out of touch with what's going on in America.

Its one thing to have surround yourself with people who have their finger on the pulse of American and its another to have your economic advisor tell us that we are having a mental recession and we are a nation of winers.

Its one thing to be concerned about the economics of America and its another to repeatedly admit that you dont have a clue about economics

its one thing to want to be in the senate with these qualities ...its another thing to want to be the commander in chief with these qualities

no way
no how
no mccain

McCain and his rich, snotty wife hate America -- you can just tell from how they treat people poorer than them.

Cindy McCain has never worked a DAY in her life -- Is THAT the "American Dream"??

Posted by: kevingq | Aug 30, 2008 2:33:25 PM

Voting against the minimum wage is great if you are not making minimum wage, and I am not. To be honest, I make just a tic over the 250K mark (wife included). I have worked my butt off with my small business and just when I get the first of MY DREAMS and goals accomplished, Obama wants to raise my taxes. It will be a cold day in a hot place before I vote to take money away from me and give to those who are sitting on their butts. I believe in the American spirit. Hard work is rewarded. I am sorry, but that is just not what Obama and the Democrats are preaching.

Is poor little Cindy more insulted by Obama making fun of the houses or her husband calling her a C-nt?

Read for yourself as McCain calls his wife the C word in front of lots of people. Of course, he said he had a long day.

http://rawstory.com/news/2008/McCain_temper_boiled_over_in_92_0407.html

He treats his wife like trash!! I would have thought she developed a thick skin by now.
