Clinton for VP? She Says Ask the Obama Campaign

ABC News' Eloise Harper reports: Sen. Hillary Clinton took questions from local reporters in Tamarac, Fla., Thursday and was asked twice if she is going to be on the 2008 Democratic ticket.

Clinton responded saying, “Anything about the vice presidential choice should be directed to the Obama campaign.”

Clinton said she is all about winning, and any tension between the two camps regarding the nominating process or the convention is nonsense.

"I think some people are trying to make something of what’s not there. You know we have worked through this. Both of us agreed that this would be in the best interest of our party and of the winning. I'm all about winning," she said.

Clinton attempted to make the point that she has gone further in supporting her formal rival than her predecessors.

"Most people who competed as hard as I did and did well, go to the convention with their delegates. They hold on to their delegates," Clinton continued, “they have a contested floor fight, they have a contested nomination fight they fight over rules or credentials or the platform, there’s lots of things to fight over. And that’s not what we are doing we are you know were really trying to respect and recognize the very strong feelings that the 18million people who voted for me had.”

When it was suggested to Clinton that she wasn’t being very enthusiastc about Senator Obama, she responded saying, “Well you know I’ve had a lot of people thank me for being so enthusiastic. You know you can talk to people and get a million different responses. I have done more for Senator Obama in the last two months than anybody in my position has ever done for a winning nominee and I’m very  proud of that.”

Clinton also said that her work has been paying off saying, “I’ve been all over the country campaigning for him and making the case for him and I think it is having an effect.”

Hillary has raised herself to a high road position and appears to have her priorities straight. Good for her!

If you voted against for anyone other than Obama as a former Clinton supporter ...

You are a traitor. You are immature, and you are pathetic.

All I keep hearing it that it's his decision. Excuse me, the guy was nominated to win back the White House, and if he can't see the best way to win would be to pick Hillary as VP, then, that's the sort of judgment we don't need. That would be the "Audacity of Arrogance". Some talk of unity and reaching across the aisle, if he can't unite his own party. Remember, the guy didn't win by much, and his win was much attributed to party activists who tend to be more liberal than most of the party. He needs to get over his ego and put party first.

THE HILLARY POWERHOUSE

There is an undeniable force that shouldn’t be discounted and should be appreciated.

Hillary Clinton knows her game, and her experience is paying off.

You are so desperate, just as your Nothingness 0-bama. Look what GWBush brought to you with his lack of experience and nothingness. Yet, you want the same thing, again.

Go take a hike, and cool your head a bit. Then, think before you go into the booth.

So, I take it you are voting for the experienced phony?

Yep, good old "where did I leave my pants" McCain is an excellent choice.

I am absolutely dumbfounded by Hillary supporters who are going to vote for McCain. He would bring the same idiotic policies of the Bush admninistration. He will also swing the Supreme Court farther to the right than it is now. If you backed Hillary Clinton and support her policies, how in God's name could you support McCain and his ideas??

Just wondering -

Cool your hyped up head first, before you stick your hands into your pants.

The only one that can help Obama ticket is Clinton. She is the only one that know how to beat McCain and GOP.

But I don't want her to take the VP because there is nothing she can say or do to change my opinion about Obama. And I don't want to vote against her. It will break my heart. But I'll have to do it because I don't trust Obama to run the country.

Hillary or McCain!

Nobama Never!

PSM,

A phony, deceptionist who stole a primary on the bases of Affirmative Action with the help of House Mommy and Senate Daddy shall not be rewarded with a vote.

Posted by: Boneheaded, from Chicago | Aug 21, 2008 7:58:25 PM

Clinton won't do as VP. She's too divisive and 50% of democrats don't like her. She and her husband come with too much baggage. Some of his income since leaving the white house has been questionable and some in complete contradiction to Hillary's stance on free trade. I don't like to use the word "stupid" but that is what Obama would be if he picked her.

I don't understand why some Clinton supporters aren't getting over her loss. Is it because of his race?

Mike @ 7:23 pm: Do you just recycle internet trash, or do you really believe that crap?

Obama was never an Indonesian citizen, and he never listed himself as a Muslim on anything. He attended two schools in Indonesia for brief periods, one a state school for children of all religions and one a Catholic school, also with a multi-religious enrollment.

If the Obama camp are genuinely concerned about how they would 'handle' an ex-president- Bill Clinton- if Hillary was appointed VP, then how on earth is Obama going to deal with the many domestic and global crises which will present themselves to the new president and commander-in-chief. I think the WJC matter says a great deal about Obama's insecurity and inexperience and such a person being president of the most powerful country in the world concerns me. My challenge to Obama is to appoint Hillary Clinton VP and show the world that you are confident of your abilities, a man who can not and will not be intimidated...not even by a successful ex president or a brilliant analyst whom you only just beat in the primaries.
Show some strength. The Washington landscape will eat you for breakfast if the Clintons have you worried.

You know a lot of you Obama supporters make no sense. I don't enjoy beign called an idiot or saying I never supportered Hillary if I vote for McCain. I am not voting for him but Obama does not have my vote either. The funny thing is that out of one side of the Obama's mouth they say if you don't vote Obama you don't support Hillary views since they were so close to Obama's and then out the other side of their mouthes they say that she can't be vp because she doesn't blend well with his message and they don't complement each other, which on is it Obama supporters does she share 95% of his view or does she not complement him and her views on polices wouldn't go well with his message??

Posted by: rachel | Aug 21, 2008 8:27:43 PM

Fair enough, Rachel:
Their views are quite similar on most issues. She's a little to the left on health care reform; he's a little to the left on the Iraq war. But the Dems will win this year by offering substantial change, and putting a former president's spouse on the ticket sharply dilutes that message.

My state's primary was pretty early this year. I voted for Obama although I would have been perfectly happy with either Obama or Hillary as president over any of the Repubs, because I think he has the better chance of beating the Republican attack machine. That is still my focus.
