Clinton Reminds Reporters of Popular Vote, Says There is No Doubt This is Obama's Convention
August 25, 2008 3:22 PM
ABC News' Eloise Harper Reports: Sen. Hillary Clinton, whose final argument to superdelegates in the last throes of her campaign was that she had won the popular vote, subtlety reminded reporters of that fact again on Monday.
"Remember: 18 million people voted for me - 18 million people, give or take, voted for Barack," Clinton said.
Still, Clinton has spend the first morning of the Democratic National Convention arguing that she is pushing for party unity. She responded to inquiries about whether she was stealing the limelight by saying, "There is no doubt in anyone's mind that this is Barack Obama's convention as it should be. And there is no doubt that what we are doing is tying to bring everybody together."
"It would have been the same way if I had won and Barack was here supporting the unity of the party," Clinton said. "This was a hard-fought campaign and there was a lot of intensity and passion associated with it in part because of the historic nature of our two candidacies."
Clinton also defended having a roll call vote at this convention, saying that was the norm. "We are doing what is traditionally done. We're following the traditions of a party convention where Senator Obama and I and our campaigns agreed that we would both be put in nomination, which is a sign of respect and recognition for both of our candidacies - there will be, as there has traditionally been, a roll call vote."
Turning to the vice presidential selection process, Clinton did not say whether she thought she was given the proper respect, instead praising Obama's pick, Senator Joe Biden.
"I am very pleased in the outcome of the process I am a great admirer of Joe Biden," Clinton said. "I've worked with Joe. I know him well. I think he will serve Senator Obama well in his campaign. He will bring a level of real intensity to the campaign trail and he will be a great vice president. He has a wealth of knowledge and understanding of the world."
Clinton was also asked if it was true she would run for election again, as Governor Ed Rendell stated yesterday. Clinton did not say whether or not she was planning a run and denied ever saying that. "I've never said that," she said. "I really appreciate the strong support that I have received from a lot of people who worked hard for me but I am intent upon making sure that I have a Democratic president to work with in the Senate."
As for reports of bickering between her and Obama's camps, Clinton said that they have a "very good working relationship." Clinton was also asked what more she could do to bring her supporters over to Obama and simply said, "I don't know. I'm doing everything I can possibly do."

My God, leave the woman alone! Do you think they'd be pushing Obama to get all 98% of his black support behind Hillary if this were turned around?
What does the woman have to do to sell this loser to Americans?
Nothing.....he can't do it himself and he will lose, NOT BECAUSE OF HILLARY OR BILL!
How about the seating of FL and MI AFTERALL? Since Hillary would have won both those two states and BO was against counting them...now he's OK after the primaries WHERE SHE WOULD HAVE WON? I can't stand this sock puppet!

Boycott celebrities who endorse Obama!

Why are the Democrats who support McCain called Hillary supporters. Yes Hillary Clinton is the best candidate that we have seen for a long time but if the Democratic nominee had been qualified for the job of President, then we would be voting Democratic.
Dem for McCain
PS: I like the "Boycott celebrities who endorse Obama!" idea.

Sorry Hillary, we love you, and you can vote as you please. I own my vote, and will not be bamdoozled to vote for BHO, the worst candidate in Presidential history. We appreciate all that you have done here, but your work is done. It's McCain all the way.

All I hear is people saying how Obama will bring "hope" and "change", no mention of what that actually means. I questioned his experience and was called a racist for it.
These people though have no problem dumping on Hillary and with no charges of sexism being raised. Most people seem to glory in the fact he actually has no experience, because they say experience means corruption.
A more deluded bunch I have never seen.

Hillary, you lost!
Get over it and move on.
It's not about you!

Obama has to have someone to blame when he loses in November so no-matter what Clinton does Obama and his goons will blame Clinton. Just because people like Clinton and know that she would be a great president doesn't mean that we are bitter. If Obama was qualified for the job I would vote for him...but he is not.
Democrat who is voting for McCain in '08

Vanessa dear, BO should have been up by DOUBLE DIGITS NOW. After Hillary dropped out we heard he'd get the bump, after the World tour, he'd get the bump....honey the only bump he's had is with Michelle's fist. He wouldn't need to get a 16 bump now if he had kept up since Hillary left the race.
Kerry was 16 POINTS AHEAD BEFORE THE CONVENTION.
Not even Oprah can help him now.

I don't get all you "HILLARY SUPPORTERs FOR McCAIN"....You act like children...McCAIN IS A REPUBLICAN! HE WILL GOVERN LIKE A REPUBLICAN! If you are okay with that then you never were a Democrat to begin with. You were simply a member of the Clinton party and not a very smart one either since your leaders (Bill and Hill) will do what they have to to get Obama elected. Grow up! It is because of people like you in the Democratic party that I will remain an Independent...

If John McCain was smart, he would go after Hillary for his VP running mate.
Obama's foolish behavior and scandalous pas will cost the democrats the white house this fall. Hillary as VP for McCain would give her a solid leg up in 2012, plus she would be the sitting VP. These days, Washington DC is one party anyways -- the SCANDALOUS party. Neither side can stay out of trouble.
It would be a winning ticket with McCain and Clinton. Redefine American History, Hillary and become a true champion of change and reform by backing McCain. It would send a clear message to Obama that his inexperience and political games are no longer welcome.

Fact is Obama is up in the polls. Up in the electoral votes. And after the debates his leads will increase.
Posted by: Vanessa | Aug 25, 2008 3:39:07 PM
Vanessa...you are lying and you know it! Obama has fallen in the polls and continue to fall. He will not get the 10 to 15% bounce because he lies and Biden is the worst he could have chosen. Hillary, yes, she was the stronger candidate and would have gotten the bounce.
It's over for Obama and you know it. Hillary supporters are die hard and will NEVER vote for Backtrack Obama! I love the fact that there are protests and I can't wait to see Obama and his ugly wife's face when he has to concede to President John McCain!
Hillary 08!
Posted by: DAVID | Aug 25, 2008 3:52:38 PM
indy_voter....we, Hillary supporters, will continue to come together in numbers and defeat not only Obama but the DNC as well.
A vote for McCain is a vote against Obama. We don't want Obama in OUR Whitehouse!
Posted by: Alice | Aug 25, 2008 3:54:20 PM
Apparently those who plan to vote McCain because Hillary is not the Democratic candidate really do not care who will be nominated to the Supreme Court of the US should McCain win the election. This is cutting off your nose to spite your face. I can understand loyalty to a candidate, but what about loyalty to the party? If Obama looses this election Hillary supporters will be the blame and you will find it will be hard for Hillary to ever win back the Obama voters should she run in 2012. I just think everyone needs to stop and think about what issues are important to you - and then vote McCain if he represents your values; vote Obama if he represents what is important to you.

Tom,
Instead of telling Clinton and her supporters off you should be appreciative that Clinton is openly supporting Obama. It is hateful people like you who make Democrats not want to be affiliated with Obama or his supporters.

A Democrat who claims they're voting for McCain, was never a real Democrat to begin with..
Posted by: Jennifer | Aug 25, 2008 3:59:46 PM
You people who say you support Hillary and will vote for McCain are insane. How are you supporting Hillary if you are voting for someone who believe the exact opposite of what her and Bill have fought for in both their careers? How can you vote for someone that has 7 houses, but doesn't know that, and thinks anyone making under 5 million dollars a year is middle class? This is why this country is losing all credibility and any type of honor in the world. Because we keep voting people into office that have no clue and only hope to gain from our suffering.
