ABC News' Jason Ryan reports: Virginia Governor Tim Kaine attended a Navy/Marine ROTC ceremony for his son this afternoon at George Washington University. His son is expected to start a program at the university after Labor Day.

Veepbeat_generic_blog Kaine briefly spoke to reporters as he left the event. Asked about the buzz that surrounds his possible nod for the Democratic vice presidential slot, Kaine said,"It’s all up to the campaign from this point forward."

Asked if he was on Barack Obama's vice presidential short list of candidates Kaine said," I would rather just leave it to the campaign."

"It's very exciting...we are looking forward to Denver," Kaine said. "It's been very nice to be mentioned."

When asked about a hoax e-mail that has gone around noting that Kaine has been selected as the VP nominee he said, "I think there's a lot of viral bizarre text messages going on."

Asked if he has signed up for the text message alerts from the Obama campaign, Kaine said he had not, "I haven't because I don't know how, but my son knows."
