ABC News' Ayana Harry Reports: As buzz about the Vice Presidential sweepstakes continues, Virginia's Democratic Governor Tim Kaine spent the weekend traveling throughout his state campaigning for Senator Barack Obama. Outlining Obama’s economic plan and taking questions in a series of town hall meetings, Governor Kaine spoke about the Vice Presidency, energy policy, his support for Obama and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

On Saturday, Kaine spoke to Obama supporters in Winchester, Leesburg, Manassas and Warrenton, Virginia. Sunday, the governor began his day in Washington, D. C. representing the Obama campaign on "Meet The Press" and rounded out his weekend with a rally and Town Hall in Richmond, where he once served on the City Council and as mayor.

At nearly every stop, Kaine faced questions about his chances of running as Obama's Vice Presidential candidate. In Warrenton, Kaine told the room “It has been really nice to be mentioned, my mom loves it. I never thought it was very likely, for a variety of reasons”

In Leesburg Kaine described his early support of Obama's campaign saying "a week after he announced I became the first statewide official outside of Illinois to back his candidacy." Kaine also spoke of the change an Obama presidency would offer Americans. "I don't think we need a change to something new.  I think we need a change to get back to the values that really matter in this country. Values of patriotism, inclusion, equality, civility and respect."

While discussing energy policy at the Manassas town hall, Kaine criticized John McCain's stance on off-shore drilling. Borrowing a line from another potential VP, Kaine described John McCain as "running to be dentist-in-chief, its just drill, drill, drill. That's basically it." He was sure to attribute his joke, continuing "That line is not an original, it's an Evan Bayh line that I really like."

Sunday, Kaine continued his criticism of McCain on "Meet the Press" telling NBC's David Gregory, “I don't know how anybody could say Senator McCain was right on Iraq.  I think he's been the sole cheerleader for Iraq and he's probably the last remaining cheerleader for Iraq.”

Kaine's largest event of the weekend was his town hall meeting at Henrico High School on Sunday in Richmond where over 300 people were greeted by a marching band.

Obama is set to visit Virginia on Wednesday, holding an invitation-only meeting with workers and former Virginia Governor and convention speaker, Mark Warner. Governor Kaine has yet to announce his plans for the Democratic National Convention in Denver.

Why did you not mention that Hillary stumped for him yesterday in NM? anyway I am beyond caring who Obama picks as vp because I am sure it will be a disappointment to me.

I wonder if the VP pick might not be a real outsider at the moment. In a way similar to when Clinton picked Gore- someone to bolster Obama's credentials, not to highlight his weaknesses. This might just be the moment for Obama to show his own confidence in the campaign. Don't get me wrong I like Biden, I think Kaine seems a good guy, I think Bayh could bring something, but maybe there is someone out there who hasn't been talked about much who can jump out and be the guy (or woman!) for Obama.

Biden might end up as Secretary of State or something similar, I would imagine that for now Kaine will remain in Virginia (he is term limited with a GOP lt Gov). I think of everyone on the fantasy short list, Bayh probably has the best shot. (By the way Sam Nunn as Sec of Defense?) I wonder if some of this VP chatter is as much about sort of pre vetting for cabinet positions? What do people think of so and so?

Of course Kaine won't be considered for the V.P. post after he opened his big mouth and said Obama ordered Russia out of Georgia! Who is Obama to issue orders?
Obama has a lot of big mouths on his side---all air, no substance.

Joe Biden,IMO, is the only option left for Obama to boost his poll numbers. There is NO OTHER Choice that will help significantly.

However, he should name Biden soon and not wait until this weekend as the media suggests. As soon as he reports to the Senate his findings, Obama should GRAB HIM.

Obama needs a boost in the polls and excitement going into the convention. Only Biden can do that.

If OBAMA does not ask CLINTON to be VP, he is throwing away what would surely be a huge landslide victory for us as DEMOCRATS.

Everyone should take a moment and think rationally about this situation. Half of the AMERICANS who took place in the nomination process supported CLINTON, half supported OBAMA. If either one of these candiates did not offer the VP slot to the other, an equally supported candidate, then we as AMERICANS might conclude that a nominee who would do that does not have the best interests of the party, the country and overall, the world, in mind.

Hopefully OBAMA does what makes the most sense for the party, the country and once again, the world, and asks CLINTON if she will consider being be VP.

What should have been CLINTON/OBAMA to begin with had better at least turn out to be OBAMA/CLINTON or DEMOCRATS chances in NOVEMBER are stunted miserably.

COME ON DEMOCRATS - do the obvious and support a landslide victory in NOVEMBER.

My favorite pick is Sebelius. Biden has always looked like such a dope in past election attempts. I think he would be a boat anchor and a liability.
