who cares? McCain is just a noun, a verb, and POW

Posted by: bernadette | Aug 28, 2008 4:01:38 PM

John McCain has my support, no matter who he chooses. I don't agree with him on all the issues, but the alternative is a "you owe me, you owe em, you owe me" socialist.

Posted by: Andrea | Aug 28, 2008 4:08:49 PM

McCain is a walking empty suite who is an embarrassment to our Nation. Hope he picked well. I Hope he picked someone who ran against him in the primary. What goes around comes around!!!

Senator McCain is a true American who loves American. Obama is a transplant from Kenya/Indosnia who has lied his way through his political career.

Obama, show us your legal Hawaiian birth certificate. Yea, you can not. It is just another lie.

Posted by: Mary | Aug 28, 2008 4:12:16 PM

McLoser is desperate, trying to hang onto Obama's coattail.

Trouble is, he's stale and behind the times.

He can't even remember how many houses he has.

How much is Gustav going to affect the election, especially if it hits NOLA?
It could work in the democrats favor, in that people would be reminded of the ineptitudes this administration and it's party have put a large area through. Look what cronysim will get for you.
Heckava job Brownie!!

Posted by: Mack | Aug 28, 2008 4:16:53 PM

Mary: Ya, he has proven that time and time again hasn't he??

If he truly loves America then why did he vote 95% to destroy it?

Posted by: beck | Aug 28, 2008 4:17:01 PM

McCain has brains Obama doesn't.

Obama thinks there is 57 states what a dumba**

I dont think Barack Apollo Obama is even a US Citizen. I agree with Mary lets see a birth certificate WE WANT PROOF!!!!

Posted by: MLBS | Aug 28, 2008 4:18:15 PM

McCain will pick billionaire NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg for his VP because Bloomberg is to be installed by international bankers and financiers to continue big profit$$$ from privatizing US government's programs, infrastructure and jobs.

Posted by: francine223 | Aug 28, 2008 4:19:25 PM

Mary -
why do you guys continue to lie about his birth certificate? It has been verified as authentic. He was born in Hawaii, which is part of the US. John McCain, on the other hand, received special dispensation for his Panama birth by virtue of legislation sponsored by...Obama and Hillary. If a candidate can only win by lying and cheating (cone of silence, anyone?) he sure as he!! isn't qualified to be president.

Posted by: cturple | Aug 28, 2008 4:19:54 PM

"I dont think Barack Apollo Obama is even a US Citizen. I agree with Mary lets see a birth certificate WE WANT PROOF!!!!"

His birth certificate is probably stamped with that faux-presidential seal of his.
I'm Barack and I approve this certificate.

MLBS: Then apply for a job with the FEC. It's their responsibility to qualify candidates. It's been done. Obama is a natural citizen. You guys really should be embarrassed by this ridiculous "argument."

Posted by: cturple | Aug 28, 2008 4:21:47 PM

why is it that all democrats think they are owed something? they want the govt (aka mommy/daddy) to take care of them.
the irony of biden's speech is that his mother told him to take care of himself.
didn't he learn anything from that? what a group of whining handouts in denver. get out of my pocket and my children's pocket.

Posted by: Steve | Aug 28, 2008 4:22:40 PM

Obama's legal birth certificate is online and if you keep up with blogs, you should have already seen the birth certificate. It's obvious you are only interested in negative news or information that is not true.

Posted by: come on people | Aug 28, 2008 4:22:41 PM

His name probably isnt even Barack Obama. it is probably a fake name to go with his fake birth certificate.

I bet the DUMACRATS will be passing the old left handed cigarettes around like they think it is the 60's again.

Posted by: MLBS | Aug 28, 2008 4:24:04 PM

McCain graduated in the BOTTOM 1% of his class. And people think he's smart enough to run the country?

McCain ditched his ill wife for a rich, younger woman. This makes him "honorable"?

McCain claims he knows little about economics. And he's going to guide our economy out of the mess the current administration created.

McCain was a POW. This makes him a good military statigist?

McCain has sold out his values and positions to suck up to the GOP fat cats. This makes him a "Maverick"?

McCain is McSame is McLame

It will be Romney. It's McCain's only hope to make Americans think he'll do something about the economy. And Mitt's much smarter than McCain, graduating cum laude from law school, whereas McCain graduated 894th out of 899 from the Naval Academy.

They'll go nicely together. Both are living large and both have flip-flopped on abortion, gay marriage and immigration policy.

MLBS:

McCain has made nothing put bad judgements, bad lies, with a bad mouth and a bad temper, and adultry. What McCain are you speaking of?

Obama has proven himself well with good judgement calls...so good the president is now using them to try to bail his a*s out.

Today, McCain also proved he has no respect for anyone but himself. He is an embarrassment to our Nation, how someone like him got chosen to run for president is beyond me.

Posted by: beck | Aug 28, 2008 4:26:48 PM

I want mommy/daddy (Govt) to keep my money because I'm not smart enough to manage it myself and I'm not responsible enough to save for my retirement. Give me a break. And NoBama wants to take even more of it by raising the SS tax. I would like mine privatized and you can have Mommy/Daddy keep yours.

Posted by: Steve | Aug 28, 2008 4:27:38 PM

As a democrat/independent, I don't agree with McCain on some issues, but agree with his nomination. McCain will serve well as a president, being a man who will put country before politics, not like Obama and his crowd.

The "toga" party reminds me of "politics gone mad". The DNC sure picked a loser in Obama.

What is going to change, nothing, he does not know the number of houses he has and a VP candidate will not help him to get his memory back when his IQ is very low. McSame was born in the Panama canal, he is very much imported from that Central American country. America will send him back to the Panama canal to feed the crocodilesin the river there. so these are his choices

(not that anyone really cares)

The Ricky Schroeder Ticket

Mccain Romney

aka
the trust fund baby ticket...

they will sing the theme song from the show "Silver Spoons"
"here we ar eface to face ...a couple of silver spoons" KFed and Ricky will join them for a rap during the bridge

The Hope the Heck He Does Not Kick the Bushet ticket

Mccain Pawlenty

aka
The Crumbling Bridge to the Fututre into a River with Crumbling Levees Ticket

and they will argue over Pawlenty's hair length (all the kids are wearing the mullet now) and whether to play Pawlenty's favorite band "Poison" or a reunion tour of ABBA (Mccain doe not know they are no longer around ...but Lieberman may whisper it to him)

The Lonely Ticket

Mccain Lieberman

aka

oh no not Mayor McCheese for VP again ticket

the only people who will vote for them are 3 people in BOca, the NARAL/Committee for Liberation of Iraq Board and a couple of lobbyists from CT who already sat on the Committee for Liberation for Iraq...so that is redundant and Lieberman would go to both debates ....just to amke sure he had Mccain's back...closely...like close enough to whisper to.

and then there is

The 2 vets with a side order of National Bankruptcy ...hold the Right Wing Ticket

McCain Ridge

aka well we did pretty well in PA and held onto VA...too bad we lost the rest of the country...ticket

nuff said

he has no good choices.

It is said that the wind is behind The One Zerobameus, God of Nothingness, and it is inevitable that he will be elected after 8 years of screw-up and cronyism. It is His Nothingness time, from the Temple of Doom; it's pay back time.

Well, if you compare His Nothingness of complete lack of accomplishments of anything, and of 100% empty promises, with a hero who actually collaborates with the democrats 50% of times, and get things done 50% of times, the choice is obvious.

United We Can; we can defeat the God of Nothingness, Zerobameus.

there are two lines...the doers and the takers. the line of takers has been increasing in this country over the past 50 years. even michele obama's father was a doer, working 2 jobs. he wasn't on the govt dole. but not the dems want govt to control and help everybody. HELP YOURSELF and have a little self worth. It's pathetic. You don't deserve a dime of my money. That is for my kids, not for your lazy a$$

cturple. obama wants to nationalize everything. that is not a free market.
"padding the pockets of oil CEO's" is an ignorant comment. what's wrong with making record profits? guess what, individuals work for those companies, own stock in those companies, too. that means profits for them too. if someone can't afford to drive to work, then they need to modify their behavior...public transit, change jobs, move, car pool, work from home, etc. gas prices go up because people continue to pay them. at some point, it's happening already, the demand will decline and prices will adjust. What i do agree w/ you on is that Bush overspent significantly. I say reduce govt down to defending our great country and Govt should get out of the way for the rest of it. Also, it's not govt is not giving "tax breaks" to co's that outsource jobs. What's the IRC Section # on that? There is no such thing. And, Americans should educate themselves more so they don't lose the jobs to India. Socialism (Obama's way) has almost killed the productivity in Europe. Now they're becoming more capitalist and it's helping them.

Just in case keep this handy if he picks Romney

Theme song lyrics

"Together" by Bob Wirth and Rik Howard

Here we are, face to face
A couple of Silver Spoons.
Hopin’ to find, we’re two of a kind
Making a go, making it grow.

Together, we’re going to find our way.
Together, taking the time each day.
To learn all about those things you just can’t buy.

Two Silver spoons together.
You and I together (We’re going to find our way)
You and I together (We’re going to find our way)
You and I together.

Making the rich richer in no way will help the country. By giving tax breaks to the wealthy, subsidizing the oil companies, and giving tax breaks to companies who move there jobs overseas, the republican party has successfully destroyed the American economy.Lets try something different. Lets give tax breaks to the working class. Lets tax companies who send their jobs overseas, and lets take the welfare away from oil companys, tax them, and use the money to fund research and innovation in energy technology that would free our economy and our libery from big oil. We've tried Bush and McCains way for the last eight years. It really hasn't worked. Its time for a change.

Posted by: Colt | Aug 28, 2008 4:53:07 PM

beck, you've proven my point.
Govt is there for you. Now put your head on your pillow and go to sleep.
And why don't you send in all of your paycheck so they can buy your food and clothe you too? We should all live in govt sponsored housing. What a great idea! As for healthcare, a free market with some form of govt oversight is the best way. People from Canada cross the border all the time to get things done because they can't wait the extra year or two it will take their 'govt-sponsored' healthcare system to do it.
btw, it's not about me, me, me. i love helping people that are in need. i would rather do it directly and at my discretion as opposed to being told i have to send it to DC and then have politicians decide how to spend/waste it.

It saddens me to look at ignorant comments from Obama-haters on here. Give some political backing to why he isn't a good candidate for the presidency. Leave it up to closed-minded ignorant voters to want to see a birth certificate? Who do you think runs this country now? - Most of the people of power in the US are people who you think are just like you. Do you think that the current president, cabinet, senate, etc. would allow Obama to be in the seat he is in now if he was an illegal immigrant who wished terror on our nation? You all act like you are some private detectives who "know the truth about Obama". Do you even understand what muslim faith is? Do you even understand what your own faith is and how it has absolutely no relevance to the issues facing our nation right now? You people not only have no clue as to what this country needs for a leader, but you also have probably never looked at a person of color and thought of them as equal to yourself. Go back to sitting on the front of the bus, you haters.

Steve, why is it ok in your book for the government to give welfare to big oil, and not to help and take care of its citzens? Is it good to have children not be able to go hungry because the government has shipped their parents job off to China so that the company can get a tax break and make great profits off the manufactured goods while at the same time promoting the government of a human rights abuser which now has become the strongest country in the world and is an enemy to democracy everywhere? I think your priorities are based on your own self interest, so please lay off of world views until you truly know what is going on rather than being a parrot and repeating the retoric of the right wing which it is proven that their policies of greed and corruption have destroyed the economy of the United States.

@beck--You will know what a "destroyed country " is really like after Obama changes it to a socialist/communist/Marxist country.
Obama thinks taking from the rich and hard working Americans and small business giving it to the irresponsible and lazy citizens will make us a better country.
Why does he want to triple tax oil companies who make an 8% profit and think it is ok for pharmacical companies to make at least 40% profits. These same companies still make a hugh profit by selling their drugs at 1/3 to 1/2 off American prices in Canada and Mexico. His policies are not based on intelligent thinking.

RECORD DEFICIT SPENDING

RECORD INTERNATIONAL BORROWING

RECORD DEBT

WEAKEST DOLLAR in 50 YEARS

STAGNANT/RECESSIVE ECONOMY

RECORD DISPARITY BETWEEN RICH AND POOR

AN UNWINNABLE WAR STARTED UNDER FALSE PRETENSES AND PROMTED WITH FABRICATIONS (At the cost of 583 BILLION dollars, tens of thousands of innocent civilian lives, 4000+ American soldiers... and counting)

A GOVERNMENT CONTROLLED BY SPECIAL INTERESTS AND THE MEGA-RICH

RECORD FORECLOSURES FROM A TOPPLED HOUSING MARKET

BUT AT LEAST THERE'S BEEN RECORD PROFFITS for BIG OIL and DEFENSE CONTRACTORS for last four years in a row (Isn't it ironic they just happen to be Cheny & Bush's old pals?)

And John McCain plans to change all that by doing the EXACT SAME THING!

My wife and I are John McCain supporters, but we have reviewed Obama and his political views and we can not find anything to say that he is the right person to be president.

However, it should be noted for those of you who keep bringing up the Obama Birth Certificate issue should stop. It has been verified and it is a legal document. This kind of comments above just make us McCain supporters look like. So stop!

The other thing you Obama supporters, You don't keep bring up the issues regarding the amout of houses a person has, Keep in mind that Kerry several Mansions, why was that not an issue in the last election? The amount of homes someone has should not play into if the person is qualified to run for President.

The issues should be his qualifications and his views on the issues:

Economy - Where is the plan? What are you going to do?

Abortion - What is your position? Life or death of the child.

Oil - Drill or not

Iraq - Pull out or not

Qualifications - Is he ready or not to be president

Just some of the issues that I can not support Obama I do not agree with any of his Liberal Views.

I am an independant voter who has voted for Clinton both times. I just can not vote for someone with such liberal views.

And as a Christian I can not vote for someone who would rather let a child die after an abortion. That is just simply wrong!

So my vote is for McCain and who ever he picks for VP.

Posted by: Aaron | Aug 28, 2008 5:44:24 PM

First of all ... Barak Obama's middle name is not Apollo -- his full name is Barack Hussein Obama II. CHECK THE FACTS! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barack_Obama)

Secondly, McCain should really choose Hillary Rodham CLinton as his running mate. She is the most experienced choice for a maverick like McCain. Plus Hillary and John are good friends. Yes, the republican party and the neo-ultra Conservative Christian Coalition of the Republican party would declare a Holy War on McCain, but she would be an incredible choice, and would guarantee McCain the White House.

BACK to reality, McCain will announce either Mitt Romney or Tim Pawlenty as his VP tomorrow. Romney has the edge based on his successful fundraising history, his economics background as a governor and his pretty successful run at the Oval Office this year. Pawlenty is a Washington outsider.

Huckabee is out as he is being paid more as a Fox commentator than what a VP would be.

Lieberman and Ridge are also out for 2 reasons -- Lieberman is really a Democrat in disguise (we know how the Republicans do NOT like Democrats), and Ridge is another Bush crony.

If McCain is going to choose from outside of the Christian/Rick Warren/Holy Roller/Republican party boundary - then go with Clinton as she has more support with middle American than even McCain does.

Hillary makes sense. The brother and sisterhoods of the traveling pantsuits agree as well.

McCAIN-RODHAM CLINTON '08!

steve, the revolution was also fought and this nation founded on the concept of no matter yoru status at birth you make your life what you make of it. That everyone has the samee opportunity. Not a promise everyone will get rich, but that being born poor didn't mean that the system was set up to keep you that way.
The health care has been a free market with some gov't opversight for about 30 or so years now. How has that worked out? Basic health care is a right, it should not matter how much you make. Does it really make that much of a difference to you if you pay as much as you pay now for your limited health care or you can pay a little less and be able to go the Doctor as you need to without having to pay anything extra or having some insurance company decide what is in your best interest and cost effective for them. We already pay more than enough to cover everyone, what we are doing now is a waste of resources.

It really won't matter who McLame chooses! He's an ancient relic so out of touch with today's reality. He'll have us all in horse drawn carriages with guns strapped to our sides shouting Yahoo! in the dirt paved streets of Wall Street when it all comes crashing down!

Bet it's Cheney!

Obama is truely an inspiration to all of us. He is smart, and he is a God sent leader to rescue the country from the mess of the GOP. History will be made when he is sworn in as the next president of the United States of America.

Whatever John McCain decides, his VP choice has to be a better one than Joe Biden.

Well, David,

Barack Hussein Obama has used so many names over his life, the fact that his supporters don't or won't accept or acknowledge his middle name should be no surprise.

What we do know is that the name Barack Hussein Obama didn't come from the heartland of this country.

Obama/Biden...Change they can deceive in...

If NObama Binladen wins, I'm moving to Canada! Just say NO to NObama. Too bad Sen. Fred Thompson didn't get the nod, he would have been awesome. Vote for McCain to sustain. Republican's RULE!!!

"I don't care who he picks, or even if he picks his nose. I just hope the DNC and Obama go after him as viciously as he has gone after them. It seems to be the only way to win a presidential election in this sad day and age....."

And the fact that YOU approve of the same treatment by YOUR side seems to implicate YOU as a part of the problem, doesn't it?????

Gramps McSame is a George W. Bush clone on policy. They're both totally out of touch with reality and the American public. The only difference between them is that McSame is emotionally unstable and borderline senile.
