McCain VP Contender Palin in Alaska, Not Ohio
August 29, 2008 8:54 AM
ABC News' Kate McCarthy reports: As vice presidential speculation swirls, Gov. Sarah Palin is watching the fireworks from her home in Wasilla, Alaska.
Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., is in Dayton, Ohio, awaiting a high noon event at which the campaign has said the Republican contender will announce his running mate.
All eyes are on a short list of contenders including Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, former Govs. Mitt Romney and Tom Ridge, Sen. Joe Lieberman, I-Conn., and Palin.
But the possibility of a surprise pick also looms as the McCain camp remains mum at this hour about just who will be joining their candidate on stage in battleground Ohio.
But one person who will not be there: Palin. The governor's spokesperson, Sharon Leighow, tells ABC News she's going to the State Fair in Anchorage, Alaska.
Stay tuned...

Well, Palin would be the most conservative of all the prospects mentioned. And wins battles over Liberals in Alaska. Lack of recognition is one problem. But she IS an up and coming Conservative, but it may take a lot to get her to leave Alaska. I know it would me too.

And you still wonder why network news organizations are losing so much audience? Please get real.

The Dan Quayle for the new millenia.

Man you repubs must have some ugly woman if you think Palin is a MILF, if that is the best you can produce that is pretty sad.

This is a cheap attempt for Mccain to appeal to women. He probably has never talked to this woman until now.

I can't stand the suspence.......
I was already making my McCain/Palin yarmulke.
I guess I'll start embroidering my McCain/Lieberman yarmulke.

Palin is a mother of five, including a child with Down Syndrome that she chose to give birth to and raise rather than aborting. She's a SOLID Conservative and pro-life woman who has done a LOT to clean up corruption in Alaska (remember the bridge to nowhere?) Hopefully she is the choice if it can't be Romney. She'd be a good VP and get both the pro-life Conservative vote as well as the votes from the masses of angry and bitter Hillary supporters who can't support Obama.

Looks like ABC's been had...lets all point and laugh at them when Palin is at the podium in a few hours.

The reporter was able to get a statement from the Governor's spokesperson at 4:00 am Alaska time?

Don't care who it is. I'm a Democrat supporting McCain. Not all Democrats are left-wing nuts who overlook radical associations, wacked out churches that spout anti-American garbage and an angry wife who can barely conceal her contempt for her own country. McCain's not perfect, but he sure does look good compared to the alternative.

I think it's Palin!! Praise the lord!

What kind of a hop-head still uses the phrase hop-head?

I hope her spokespeople are just blowing smoke. I have been reading about Sarah Palin for a few months now and I like everything about her. For a few minutes there, I thought I had a reason to be excited about the Republican ticket. Please make it be so.....

The VP is Tim Pawlenty. I am in Ohio and saw him get off the plane holding up his fingers signifying the V sign.

Either ABC or the governor's spokesperson is a fact bungler with, "The Governor's spokesperson, Sharon Leighow, tells ABC News she's going to the State Fair in Anchorage, Alaska."
Well the State Fair in Alaska is held in Wasilla, Alaska and I'm guessing the Gov's spokesperson knows that.

Not sure if we should read too much into Palin being in Alaska tonight. There's a 4 hour time difference between Ohio and Alaska, she could easily be back in Alaska this evening after a Noon appearance in Ohio.

She would be a terrible choice. 2 years of experience as a governor and we should believe she can step right in to the presidency if needed = completely undercuts McCain's best argument, that Obama doesn't have the necessary experience. Hard to believe McCain would make such a stupid decision

All facts seem to indicate that Palin flew into Ohio. In fact, here's the flight data: http://flightaware.com/live/flight/N222GY

How dumb are u people! First off people at the airport didn't know who the person was. Secondly why would she land in Cincinatti if the announcements going to be in Dayton. Geeeez!
