Media Learns Winner of Obama Veepstakes Stake-Out-a-Thon

ABC News' Matthew Jaffe reports: The anxious news media has been waiting all week to find a winner in the ongoing Obama veepstakes speculation. Today we finally got one: the name - Waldman.

Veepbeat_generic_blog1_2With reporters staked out in their front lawn night and day all week long to monitor Sen. Evan Bayh's house across the street, the three Waldman kids found a way to profit - sell lemonade to the thirsty media throng.

And boy did they make a killing.

No sooner had the stand been set up at the base of their driveway then instantly a line formed five-deep in cameramen. Location, location, location. Serving the ice-cold juice in nice pint-sized glassware, the kids quickly made a buck or two...or twenty.

The elder Waldman saleswoman, Siena, 6 (and 3/4!) said she'd use the profits to buy a walkie-talkie, but noted that it'd be "expensive."

No wonder she was charging a dollar a drink.

No matter, reporters kept on coming up to quench their thirst on an 85-degree August day in sunny Washington, DC.  With such a successful business, aided by a multi-color lemonade sign resting on their table, Alexa, 5, might now be able to get herself a new Ugly Doll.

As for Lucas, 3, he's not so sure what he'll do with the money yet. Maybe an Obama-Bayh '08 t-shirt?

One thing his elder sister Siena is sure of is who she wants Obama to pick as his running mate.  Asked if she hopes the Democrat's choice will be her neighbor Sen. Bayh, she responded, "Yes!"

And if Bayh is the selection, then a well-hydrated media horde will now be ready to film his every move.  That is, if the kids ever stop touring their new favorite playgrounds: the television satellite trucks lining their street.

And yes, the lemonade stand sell-a-thon was all caught on camera. Hey, gotta shoot something on another slow news day...

Geevil and other McBush supporters, voting based on nothing.

I watch Seinfeld, but I will turn off all TVs in all my houses on next Thursday.

How much energy is being wasted on Obama's childish actions?

Posted by: geevill | Aug 22, 2008 4:15:08 PM

Obama does too have a campaign about something:

1) Letting the AFL-CIO write up a lot of trade barriers to protect their industries

2) Raising pretty much every tax across the board, including the already 2nd-highest-in-the-industrial-world corporate tax

3) Mandating federal funding for abortion and legalization of partial-birth abortions

4) Sitting down to talk with regimes hostile to us and acting all buddy-buddy, and god forbid they attack us, he might talk to them some more..

Posted by: bhrandon | Aug 22, 2008 4:25:47 PM

geevil, how much money is being spent on McCain's dement responses to media. What a crisis, McSame does not know how many houses he has, his campaign said 4 and google said 13 houses, he is like a dictator in the developing countries (e.g. Mobutu Sese Seko,Eyadema,Bongo, Noriega, or Ferdinand Marcos) is not fit to be president of the USA.

Harvey, don't forget Kennedy, Dodd, Boxer, Feinstien, Feingold, and of course the yet to be elected Chris Matthews. And the list goes on.

Goodness! One would think that Republicans would be the last people on Earth to start accusing people of wanting to elect a puppet without a brain. Highly amusing.

Barack Obama is sharp, careful, analytical, and open-minded -- all characteristics that have been long missing at the top spot in the Executive Branch. The flip-flopping, hot-tempered "Original Maverick" does not score so highly.

It's heartening to read this story of our next generation of Young Republicans learning the laws of supply side economics. We're so proud of this six and three-quarters-year old Ayn Rand acolyte.

Christina,

What an excellent site! I think every McCain supporter should go there to find out the facts about their candidate...

Maybe Obama supporters could even learn a thing or two about this man! This hero of womens rights! All the PUMAs voting for McCain should go there as well, it is really inspiring!

Keep up the good work over there at Women for John McCain!

So the question is whether Biden's depth counters Obama's inexperience — or highlights it?

After all, Biden is anything but a change agent, having been in office longer than half of all Americans have been alive. Longer than McCain.

And he talks too much.

On the same day he announced his second bid for the presidency, Biden found himself explaining why he had described Obama as "clean."

And there's the 2007 ABC interview in which Biden said he would stand by an earlier statement that Obama was not ready to serve as president.

It seems Obama is worried that some voters are starting to agree.
