Obama 'Deeply Concerned' About Hurricane Gustav
August 30, 2008 11:29 AM
ABC News' Matt Jaffe and Sunlen Miller report:
At a breakfast with their wives Sens. Barack Obama and Joe Biden expressed their concern that Hurricane Gustav had been upgraded to a category 3 storm.
"We are deeply concerned," Obama told ABC News' Ann Compton at the Yankee Kitchen family restaurant in Boardman, Ohio. "I've instructed my senate staff to monitor the situation closely. Make sure we've contacted both FEMA but also private relief organizations just to make sure that whatever happens people are prepared."
Obama said that they would continue to monitor the storm and would keep Louisiana residents in their minds. "Obviously we're going to be each day seeing what happens and we're praying for New Orleans but we want to make sure that people are making all the necessary precautions." Obama added that he hoped people had learned from Hurricane Katrina that evacuation is key.
"This time they're not taking any chances so say a prayer," Biden said adding that his wife Jill "went down there for a week after when the hurricane hit last time."
Asked about his new role as Veep nominee, Biden responded, "Oh I hope I'm adjusting well."

Just search you tube for "Know Enough?" What lovely friends. and meanwhile Obama's campaign is using underhanded tactics using the Department of Justice and now the IRS to try to attack the organization looking into things such as his friendship with Ayers. Great leadership already.

As a 21 year old woman, I often ask myself what this game known as politics has turned into. Does McLame honestly think the mental capacity of female voters is as small as a peanut? The assumption that Women voters will vote for any vagina further proves to me that McCain is nothing more than a male chauvinist! She is no Hillary Clinton nor does she have the track record to counterpunch that fact. And Badger please, all people with a fully functioning brain can comprehend the fact that there was no real reason why he chose Pale-Lin (spelled the way its pronounced b/c I’m sure even all these McCain supporters do not even know how to pronounce it themselves) except for the obvious. The democrats have always been the first to pave the way politically for minorities because early on they realized the significance of having minority support. For years they fought for women’s rights and rights for minorities. The republican agenda has always been “do for ourselves to keep up the longevity of our future endeavors” didn’t you republican cronies watch the john Adams series? They never cared about anyone who didn’t fit their pedigree. This truly shows how great john McCain’s judgment really is. He cannot even make a logical choice for the good of the country so how does he expect to lead it? This election is about US, so perhaps the voters will wake up and realize who is really fighting for us. I will give you a hint it is NOT John McCain the man who uses his wife and the governor of Alaska as pawns.

George W. Bush was also an action person. We've been in action in Iraq now for close to a decade.
He acted on the economy when he gave tax cuts to Warren Buffett and Bill Gates while millions of American families lost their homes. Posted by "Common Sense"
Now...there is an oxymoron...that means contradiction...if I even saw one.
a decade is 10..so we stretch it a little to make a point. Should we have just sat by and let's those nuts over in the Middle East continue to rape, pillage and continue to threaten our interests? How many attacks did they make during the 90's...say about 8 and we did nothing.
Your deal on taxes. You need to educate yourself on taxes. If a person makes $1 million, and there is a (just a figure) 5% tax cut then that person gets $50K. If you make $60,000 with a 10% tax cut...notice it went up 5%, then they get $6K back. WHAT PEOPLE FAIL TO REALIZE IS TWO THINGS...THE PEOPLE AT THE TOP PROVIDE JOBS FOR YOU AND MOST IMPORTANTLY...THE PERCENTAGE OF THE TAX CUT IT BIGGER FOR THE LITTLE PERSON THAN THE RICH ONE. YOU WANT PEOPLE TO LOOK AT THE TOTAL DOLLAR ABOUT. IT'S NOT EVEN RELATIVE..BECAUSE YOU LEFT OUT THAT THE POOR PEOPLE DON'T EVEN HAVE TO PAY TAXES NOR ILLEGALS..SO WARREN BUFFET HAS BEEN PAYING THEIRS FOR YEARS. If you are going to vote for Mr. Change...and that's all you will have is "change in the pocket" forget the bills...know a little about arithmetic.

Now...now...I know that you are young, but don't start with calling someone a chauvinist and then call Governor Palin a "vagina". That doesn't sound very pro woman to me. At least repect your sex...I do.
I will agree with you....she is not Hillary Clinton. As far as her track record...watch the debates..I feel for Biden.

Yes, isn't it nice that ABC chose to continue in its "elect BHO" campaign by making it sound like only they care about hurricane victims. So touching. I think I need a hanky.

lets keep yelling this nonsense at each other and not take time to focus on any real issues

There there Carolyn, Personally, I feel for Palin because she is allowing herself to be used. Secondly young yes, but stupid no and by me referring to McLame as a chauvinist is why I am not surprised at the fact that HE may think women voters vote based on gender alone and that we are voting for VAGINAS THIS ELECTION. McCain just doesn’t get it, there are real issues facing Americans this election and we need solutions not a pity party for us women because Hillary did not get the nod. We democrats are satisfied with our nominee after all it was a long hard fought primary but someone had to lose. Who is Palin? Republicans do not even know much about her and that speaks in volumes. God forbid something happens to John, do we really want to leave the faith of millions of lives in Sarah’s hands, a governor for a little over a year. Gee I thought we were smarter than that and this year we were going to vote on issues. I do not want my social security privatized, I do not want to keep giving tax breaks to the wealthy when they don’t need it nor did they ask for it, and I most certainly do not want to keep funding wars with no MISSION. Know the candidates and their party’s agenda, when democrats were in office we were a lot better off. Democrats were only elected on three occasions which shows why this country has such a sad history. For John McCain to be so Pro-Life he is certainly setting up millions of American lives for a botched abortions by choosing Palin.

You know, this is really funny to me; why worry; why make all of the non intertaining statements; don't you know matters how we feel; God's in controll; don't you see? even if Obama looses the election in November; it's still ok; because God still controls; "we" the people of color will yet rejoice; why? because God did answere our prayers; I thank God that I have lived to see History; a "MAN of COLOR" the first one to show the world that there's no respect of color in God's business; the first one to show our young men of color; "see" "YOU" can be anything you choose to be; "YOU" can become "President of The United STates; just remember the only person you should answer to is Jesus; you can surevive; don't you see God is showing our young beautiful women of color by seeing thru Obama's wife; "YOU" too can be more than a "botty-call"; more than having babies at "16" or before; look what a good education can do for you. Yes I'm so happy that I can truly see the "BIG PICTURE"...then never less; Let us just Praise The Lord for what He's doing and about to do...so just shake the HATES OFF!!!

wow alot of hatred over obama just because he said he would pray for the victims of a hurricane. Sounds like alot of people are scared over mccains terrible choice of a VP

Obama blaimed Bush for the effects of Hurricane Katrina. Obama better get to the Gulf Coast and put his staff in the water and hold back the hurricane. If there is any damage, it's Obama's fault.

i just want to say to jimbo that the rude remark that you made was extremly hatful denigrating racial slur that has no place in a form of this kind. Obama represents change from the outdate pollitics of right-wing ideological FREAKS" like you that have ravaged this nation watched jobs go over seas, leaving Americans jobless with no dignity, took a nation to war under false intellegnece and down right lies, Allowed America's stature and world reknown reputation disenagrate therefore giving us the unpleasant reputation for being hated. America is better than this and it shows when we see people like Barack Obama break barriers like so. YOur comments are deporable and truely Un-American but i thank god for people like you though because its people like you who give other people courage to stand for change and that is why i am voting for Barack Obama YES WE CAN -POET

Obama-Biden are telling us to say a prayer? Good thing they aren't in office, or they'd be sending them billions in aid... after all, it isn't THEIR money, it's yours and mine!!

Any chance we can use a label other than "Obama-Biden" for these guys. I had to read the headline 3 times because I kept on reading it as "Osama Bin Laden". No, I'm not doing a "Willie Horton", I just wish these yutzes would make our choices more clear and not more confusing.

Why compare Palin to Obama..
Obama had the audacity to run for president and beat-out more experienced people and clocked a record turn-out of 18 million votes through-out America and the surrounding territories.
The American people have validated Obama with their votes in unseen before numbers!
Can you even say that 20,000 people even knew of Palin before being selected yet alone will vote for her.
Can she go to foreign lands and draw crowds of 200,000 people as Obama has. Cmon now, the two really dont have the same appeal and influence. Its really not even a comparison.

So, is the messiah going to do anything about the hurricane? Or is he in fact the empty suited, vain, ego-driven clown and not quite as powerful as he thinks he is? By the way, what does Pelosi have to say about the hurricane? She's going to save the planet, you know.....

Carolyn - You said Palin's no Hilarious Clinton. That means she actually has a much better chance of actually getting elected. Clinton had NO chance.

Sarah Palin, in 2 years as Gov. of Alaska, as mayor, and city council member, has made more executive decisions that Obama has in his whole life. She can learn foreign policy under McCain, rather than Obama learning from Biden (backseat driver).
Obama has drafted a few bills and cast a few votes in Illinois and the Senate. He toured the world after he won the primaries. Obama has practically no experience.
Obama went to South Chicago instead of Wall Street, but he went to South Chicago to begin running for President of the U.S. This was not some altruistic action.
Obama voted to deny medical care to babies born alive during a botched abortion. Is this the type of person you want leading America? Is this the image of America we want around the world! So much for his talk of "Am I my brother's keeper?" and "respect others."
Aristotle described Obama thousands of years ago: Those without experience will try to make up for it with words, but the one with experience will get more done than the one with only theory.

Obama fans - get your candidate to walk out there on the surface of the water and put up his hands - he can surely deflect the storm from our shores, since He can do all.. right?
Posted by: Namako | Aug 30, 2008 4:21:28 PM
Actually, as far as the Congress is concerned, Obama doesn't have to learn anything. They'll have their collective hands up his arse, working his mouth and his signature hand, signing anything they want into law. He's woo weak to stand up against them. For the first time in our history, Congress will FINALLY have complete control over BOTH the Legislative Branch AND the Executive Branch. People, if Obama-the-puppet gets into office, hang on to your wallets!!!!
