Obama Texts Biden Pick to Supporters

ABC News' Sunlen Miller Reports: Sen. Barack Obama has sent his vice presidential text message; were you awake to read it?

At 3:04am ET and just after midnight on the west coast, the Obama campaign sent the following message to anyone who signed up to find out who the presumptive Democratic nominee had picked:

"Barack has chosen Senator Joe Biden to be our VP nominee. Watch the first Obama-Biden rally live at 3pm ET on www.barackobama.com Spread the word!"

Alas, despite their best efforts to deliver the message directly to supporters, word leaked out throughout the night, with a number of media outlets reporting the Biden pick hours before the text alert.

Nonetheless, the Obama did likely gain thousands of emails and cell phone digits through the experiment. So it's probably a safe bet that if signed up to receive the alert that O will c u later.

As long as they grew their phone data base. Who cares...I'm a Hillary supporter who likes Biden and hates Obama. Elections are not won on VP choices, so Obama is still on his own here...the experience pit bull (who in his own words does not think Obama is ready) can't save him.
McCain '08!

Every time I've seen Senator Biden on some panel conducting a hearing, the guy looks and acts like he wants to tear someone's head off - very angry. And he has this seering look and way of speaking that he gets on his face when he is speaking to whomever they are grilling - scary. Not sure where that's coming from but makes you wonder what he's so unhappy about.

Good luck with all of that.

This will not win back the Hillary supporters. Obama will lose!

Wow - they couldn't even properly organize something as simple as a VP announcement - and we're supposed to trust this gang with running the country? What a mess. I like Biden. He deserves to be at the top of the ticket far more than Obama. Affirmative action for POTUS is not a good idea.

They had to get an attack dog in Biden, and fogot how well Hillary can do it...although not enough against Obama or they would be reamed. So glad McCain can go at it. I like Biden...too bad he's on a losing ticket...VP choice never determines an election.

Mr. Coffee,

Regardless of how many times you and others attempt to smear John McCain by pretending it'll be the same as it was with Bush, it just wont stick. Anyone who has paid even a tiny bit of attention to politics over the past few decades knows that John McCain is a much different politician and man than GW Bush. Also, when you same "more of the same", do you mean the last two years of Pelosi/Reid controlled congress?

What about the Clinton supporters. I voted for Clinton. He has lost my vote. What a fool. This will dog him, and he will lose on this.

I have liked Biden since watching him head the Watergate Hearings. He brings many great qualities. He can be tough, but he is also very likeable. Biden is also good with the working class. He also does not like McCain and knows his weak spots.

It will be a much more interesting campaign with Biden

McCain has a history of not getting along with Bush and I thought everyone knew that. I don't care just keep B. Hussein away from the White House.

Posted by: Debra | Aug 23, 2008 3:55:25 AM

Wow, it looks like the only ones losing sleep over Obama's choice are McCain supporters. That's telling.

Posted by: Mr. Coffee | Aug 23, 2008 3:57:35 AM

As somebody said: McCain has picked his running mate as well and he is GEORGE BUSH!

Mr. Coffee....actually it's alot of pizzed off Hillary supporters...you know the ones that are defecting to McCain camp.

I see bumper stickers...Obama bin Biden now! Yeah.
Hillary supporter for McCain!

"Mr. Coffee....actually it's alot of pizzed off Hillary supporters...you know the ones that are defecting to McCain camp."

Debra:

I doubt it, the Hillary supporters who are defecting to McCain are too stupid to use a computer.

McCain should select David Petraeus. The General vs. The Windbag!

Condi Rice would be a winning pick, too.

Obama finally decided to get some creaky training wheels. Also, very classless of Obama to send the text message at 3am. He's on a losing mission.

McCain 08
Hillary 12

Davis how many times do I have to tell you it's free to pull the lever for McCAIN and it'll feel sooooooo good.

I can't believe what I'm reading in these comments!
Republicans didn't even want McCain in 2000 when he was 8 years younger and up against a guy whose only experience was in making businesses lose money.

I like McCain, and certainly would have preferred him to Bush, but we should face facts people, our country has been weakened tremendously over the past 8 years of Republican rule.

Whether you supported the Iraq invasion or not, it, along with the secret prisons, torture, lack of diplomacy and response to Katrina has made us look like a third world country.

Rather than strengthening our position in the world the Republicans have made Iran stronger while making the dollar weaker.

Republican voters cling to the "higher taxes" scare tactic and want to make the Bush tax cuts permanent, but what good is a $600 rebate when increased gas prices have pushed the cost of everything sky-high? After all, it makes sense that people in the oil business would rather give you back 600 of your own money rather than have you stop buying their product.

The choice is clear in 08. Obama-Biden.
