Showdown: Obama, Clinton Supporters Trade Barbs

ABC News' Eloise Harper Reports:  Before the Democratic National Convention got underway with a prayer and the national anthem, Democratic infighting took center stage in another area of Denver's Pepsi Center.

Supporters of former presidential candidate Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., shouted "We will not fall in line" behind the party's presumptive presidential nominee, Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill.

A small group of about 15 people, located within the crowd of approximately 200 gathered in front of MSNBC's news set, traded barbs over who deserves the nomination.

"Haters, that's what y'all are. Haters! You're not a Democrat! You're not a Democrat!" a man holding up an Obama sign shouted at a Clinton supporter.

"You lost, get over it!" another Obama supporter chimed in.

"Let the delegates vote!"  "Rise, Hillary Rise!"  "I own my vote!" the Clinton supporters responded.

The Obama backers replied with his campaign mantra "Yes We Can," but the Clinton supporters persisted.

"Caucus fraud, Caucus fraud!" they yelled.

Earlier Monday, Clinton reminded reporters that she won the popular vote during the primary season, but said that despite that outcome, there's "no doubt" that the convention belongs to Obama, and that the main goal is party unity.

A handful of Clinton supporters also dogged MSNBC "Hardball" host Chris Matthews, calling him a "sexist pig" and booing him as he walked onto the network's set.

A group of about ten protestors joined the fray, holding up signs saying, "Clintons 4 McCain."

One woman holding a sign said, "We've been big Hillary Clinton supporters, we've been told to get over it... We want out party back."

The Clinton-turned-McCain supporters said they "can't trust" Obama because "he is very shifty" and that "he doesn't take a stand on anything."

"We will swing the votes so long as we are being belittled and demeaned. We will swing the votes," one of the newly-minted McCain supporters said.

You Obama supporters need to use your spellcheckers.

I haven't see Obama's favorite Rap star, Ludacris, on the list of entertainers.

Maybe if the add him to the schedule to sing his tribute to Obama it will help unite the party. You know-- the song where he referred to Hillary as a b***h.

"A communist country effectively used their rising middle-class to put on the greatest show ever AND win the most gold medals."

Huh? Didn't we used to get beat by the Soviets too? Except for the "miracle on ice".

"You know-- the song where he referred to Hillary as a b***h."

Maybe that will be the new national anthem if Barry is elected?

To all you guys stupid full-of-hate repubs/fake-hillary supporters, and even true hillary supporters planning to switch for Mc Cain:

I'm not from the U.S., but here in Europe we have great expectactions about this presidential race's issue.

I don't see where's the point saying Obama isn't prepared. Like Kennedy was? Lincoln was?

The guy may not be at his top rendering, but he's a real hope not only for America, but for the whole world. Do yourselves a favor and please stop thinking about your own as**. This election's issue will affect not only your fate, but the whole world's.

You've been having the worst presidency ever for eight years now, making a shame of your country and its values,

1st: Patriot Act and terminating Civil Liberties

2nd: Not signing Kyoto and F***** the whole planet with your pollution

3rd: Invading and destroying a Foreign Country not one of you knows about, which was a cornerstone of our world's culture, burning down 4000 years of history, firing up a whole region, slaughtering millions of families, kids, people who never asked for your coming, all that not even for oil, but to profit the few selfish b*stards running your country and making fun of you who voted and RE-voited for them,

4th: By the same way making the Oil's price skyrocketting worldwide,

5th: Making your own country hated by every other one and even more unsecure for the next century.

I grew up loving America, for what it represented: hope, change, freedom. I still do, but please, make yourselves a favor, and get the man who's willing to bring back those values.

And, oh, I just feel those who can't stand the guy just have an unadmitted something against non-white running the country.

Even that would be a pride guys, you would show the world what you really are able of, what your true values are, you would be the first ones and lead the world again.

I repeat, please make youselves a favor.

Gold Medals in the Olympics -- at least the US won in sports that I consider sports - track, swimming, basketball and volleyball, and gymnastics. Also, we didn't cheat and send under aged children who are taken from their parents to train for the Olympics. No insult -- but I can't get really worked up over badminton and ping-pong and country that didn't think some little girl with a beautiful voice wasn't pretty enough to be part of the opening ceremony -- so they had "perfect" little girl lip sync.

You think China is good -- go ahead and move there. They have such a great record on human rights.

If McCain picks a woman for VP Obama won't win a state.

"I'm not from the U.S., but here in Europe we have great expectactions about this presidential race's issue."

When he loses the election we'll send him to Europe so that you may worship him in the flesh.

As a woman, I am disgusted by the Obama camp and its arrogance -- they have no regard for the amount of hard work and dediction that Hillary poured into her campaign. Obama associates with scum that likes to marginalize and dismiss women (keeping that glass ceiling in place). There is absolutely no way that I will vote for Barack Hussein Obama.

Looks like Obama's rude, insulting, and arrogant supporters are reaping exactly what they have sown. According to them they are going to win this election by a landslide and that they don't need Hillary or her supporters -- so why do they seem so upset?

Posted by: Political Realist | Aug 25, 2008 7:02:32 PM

Amazing - they're going to reject the candidate whose positions would further their own interests, the one who adores his wife and daughters, for the one whose policies would set them back 40 years, who left his injured wife for a trophy wife he doesn't even respect. When the cows are led to slaughter, at least they don't think they're teaching the chickens a lesson ...

and if they think it will be Hillary's turn in '12 after they sabotage Obama, do they really think his coalition will just say, "Hey, you were right, forgive our apostasy and sign us up?"

The GOP understands just two things - anger and fear. If we allow them to use them against us then we really will be on the road to a second-rate nation, and the world will watch, some with disgust, others with glee.

Davis:

NEWS FLASH!!

I am an angry, Hillary supporter, and I have been a Democrat since I first registered to vote more than thirty years ago.

I am NOT a Republican, and never will be. But if I had been able to take the time from work and travel to Denver, I would have been there with the rest of the PUMAs, and Hillary supporters.

I doubt if very many of them (if any) are "Republicans in Disguise."

If the recent polls have not shown you Obama bloggers how serious these Democratic former Hillary supporters are, how determined they are to not vote for Obama, and the damage they can do come November, you must still be drinking that kool-aid.

Tell all these b's to shut the f up -- my main man Barack Hussein Obama is in charge now and he gonna hook me up. He said that I am a great talent -- that's my bizzoy.

Wait till you see the video that comes out in October of Barack Obama mocking Hillary Clinton and laughing all about it with Chuck Hagel and Jack Reed. Good stuff from Barack Hussein Obama.

TO MACK:

If he looses the election, get prepared to pay 10$ a gallon, then sell your house to the bank and get your a** kicked by China, Iran, Russia alltogether and don't expect us to send our help this time, stupid.

Good thing you're not an American huh! If Obama makes the weak pathetic euros happy then I will gladly vote for McCain!

PUMA 08!!!!!
NO HILARY = NO OBAMA!

GO MCCAIN

Posted by: Ricky | Aug 25, 2008 7:08:49 PM

The Obama campaign called our home in MN looking for support tonight. I told them to SHOVE it. All the women in this family, 4 of voting age, are VOTING FOR MCCAIN IN PROTEST!

Posted by: mary | Aug 25, 2008 7:11:31 PM

To Julted: first of all, it is "loses", not "looses". If Barack Hussein Obama wins, why in the world do you think gas prices would drop? Because the Messiah will declare that it shall be? Will he turn one gas can of gas into millions of gallons of gas for all?

And I'm sure we would have nothing to worry about with foreign powers -- after all, the One's policy of appeasement and calling for mediation between Russia and Georgia while he goes bogey boarding in Hawaii really demonstrated the Big Stick that Barack Hussein Obama would wield as the leader of the free world.

Posted by: MACK | Aug 25, 2008 7:11:48 PM

The Obama campaign called our home in MN looking for support tonight. I told them all the voting age women in our family were VOTING MCCAIN to send a message. The message is OBAMA STOLE the nomination by using our ridiculous caucus system to get the far leftys out in mass to vote for him! NO MORE OBAMA!

Posted by: martha | Aug 25, 2008 7:13:27 PM

This woman is voting for McCain!
