Stephanopoulos: No Roll Call Vote for Clinton?
August 24, 2008 8:11 PM
ABC News' Nitya Venkataraman reports: After former rivals Sen. Barack Obama and Sen. Hillary Clinton worked to broker a deal where Clinton's name would be placed into nomination alongside Obama's at the Democratic convention, speculation swirls in Denver that Clinton insiders may be willing to accept no roll-call vote, fearing the blame of disrupting the party's efforts at unity.
ABC News' Chief Washington correspondent George Stephanopoulos says no decisions have yet been made, but that the state-by-state vote faces the possibility of elimination in favor of Obama's nomination "by acclamation."
"The whole idea of a roll call vote could be in flux at this point," Stephanopoulos told ABC's Charles Gibson on World News Sunday night.
"The Clinton people here, they've said they wanted catharsis, they wanted that roll call, but they may not get it," Stephanopoulos said, describing the decision as one being discussed at the highest levels of Clinton's camp. "They don't want to be blamed for any trouble at this convention."
The roll call vote was planned in an effort to soothe Clinton supporters bitterly disappointed by her loss to Obama during the primary season.
An ABC News/Washington Post poll released Sunday showed Obama only receiving the support of 79 percent of Democrats -- a number Stephanopoulos says is due in part to the fact that Obama doesn't yet have all of Clinton's supporters on board.

SO WHAT WOULD THE OBAMA CAMP DO-- IF THE DELEGATES ALL SIMPLY STOOD UP AND VOTED "PRESENT" AT THE CONVENTION?!!

As much as I hate for Clinton to not be on the roll call, I think this will be better for everyone because when Obama loses, Clinton will have done everything in her power to save him from the loss.

Yep, Obama doesn't have all the Dumocrat vote-- and never will. When are the Obamazoids going to stop trying to blame the absence of those votes on Hillary Clinton? They, in their blind fervor, seem not to understand that it is entirely possible to dislike Obama based on his lack of experience, his flipflopping, and his immaturity, and to find him to be an unsuitable candidate? I would guess it's because it's easier to blame Obama's flagging polls on the Clintonistas than it is to face reality! Long before Bambi was anointed (certainly not elected) as the candidate, the polls showed he couldn't beat McCain; nonetheless, the Dums chose him anyway (doh!) and now seem to be astonished that there is a statistical tie when they should be ahead of the Repugs by double digits.
I'm an unaffiliated voter (don't belong to any party at all), and am disgusted by the choices facing me in November. I've voted in every election since 1968, and there have been a number of "lesser of two evils" choices over the years, but none quite as disturbing as this one. My choice of candidates, if I vote this time, has absolutely nothing to do with Hillary Clinton. In simple terms, I'm holding my nose and voting for John McNutcase because The Chosen One lacks the both credentials and the experience to do the job.
OUTSOURCE THE PRESIDENCY! It's the best choice!

Post-Biden poll shows Obama-McCain dead heat!
We warned the super delegates during the primaries, Obama can't win because he is grossly under-qualified!

The party and pundits just don't get it. Senator Obama will not receive the votes of Clinton Democrats because he is unqualified to be President. Experience matters especially for the job of President. Senator Clinton could be his running mate and we still wouldn't vote for him.
Since June 3rd, Senator Obama has made one gaffe after another. He has terrible judgment and cannot take a stand on anything. This is why he has two positions on every issue.
I am a Puma Pac member. Short of a miracle with Senator Clinton as the nominee, we will be voting for Senator McCain in November. Obama bought off the superdelegates to push him over the delegate finish line and he is spending money like mad. He spent over $6.5 million dollars in FL and he is still losing to McCain.
One more thing, we are fighting the corrupt DP leaders that gamed and frontloaded the primaries to select Obama. Pelosi and Dean are corrupt politicians.

this is what happens when the "Idol-maker" Media machine decides who THEY want to be YOUR President. All the koolaid drinkers line up....except for the ones with common sense.
You get what you pay for, kids...a weak, inexperienced, unprincipled candidate who has never accomplished anything on his own.

The DNC has been most undemocratic. They have done all they could to shipwreck Hillary and select Obama. But that doeasn't mean I have to select Obama. I want a President with a clear record of putting America First. That's Hillary or McCain ! American Patriots will unite and won't let this country be sabatoged! PUMA's will put country first!

Female Clinton supporters who refuse to vote for Obama are doing nothing but reinforcing the stereotype that women are petty, emotional and vindictive. You would think that the Repubs did enough damage during the last 8 years that anyone, ANYONE, would do a better job than McCain. If McCain is really so independent, he should be an independent, like Lieberman. He's not - he's going to deliver more of the same.

I have been against the roll call when it was first reported. She shouldn't get a roll call. The woman couldn't even concede the night she lost the race.
No. Time for some come-up-ins

Obama will get a bump next week in the polls, but not what he needs in a supposed easy Dem win year. He should have been double digits ahead since Hillary dropped out and he's never done it. Biden won't do it for him either.
AMERICANS VOTE FOR THE TOP OF THE TICKET AND VOTE WITH THEIR GUT....MY GUT SAYS STAY AWAY FROM NOBAMA!
Obama's negatives cannot be helped by Biden's positives.
LOVE HILLARY, LIKE BIDEN, HATE OBAMA (as Prez.)
JOHN SYDNEY McCAIN!

To everyone who has ever seen the grossly under-qualified guy get promoted because of his charm or his connections this is your chance to show the world that we won't stand for it any more. Obama is disgustingly arrogant to run for president after just 1 year in the senate. This democrat will never vote for Obama or anyone who tries this "I was born with the knowledge to save the world" nonsense.
I am a Democrat who is voting for McCain

Thanks Hillary for giving McCain so many talking points. Right or not, you'll get the blame if Obama loses, and you deserve it.

We own our votes! If you want to blindly follow Senator Obama to defeat, be my guest. We've looked into Obama's past. He raised $250 million dollars in the Democratic Primary. Only half of that money came from small Internet donors. The rest came from bundlers representing lobbyists, law firms, financial firms, and so on. Even Michelle's brother is a lobbyist for Obama.
Senator Obama sat on charitable boards such as the Woods foundation. He directed millions of dollars to groups including one called ACORN. They have been convicted of voter fraud and are part of Obama's GOTV drive in his past and current campaigns.
Obama also directed millions of taxpayer dollars to developers such as Rezko and others for public housing projects. These programs failed, Obama collected donations from these developers, and kept silent about the poor people in his district living in squalor.

The DNC owes it to the 18Million voters of Hillary Clinton to have their voices heard in a roll call vote. Obama must be running scared that he will not be nominated at the convention. Not having the roll call will never unite the party. Obama will never win the White House without Hillary's supporters and he has now alienated anyone of them that might have voted for him. Obama is very indecisive -a quality America doesn't need in a President. This is a moral outrage and should not be tolerated by the delegates of the DNC.
The Democrats are going to lose the election. A election that was handed to them on a silver platter.
Obama has now thrown his potential Presidency under the bus.

Right, Edwin, because being first lady qualifies you to be president...and if her last name isn't "Clinton" she ain't in the Senate, right because Hillary has no connections whatsoever.

AMERICANS FOR McCAIN!
NEVER BARACK HUSSEIN.
Poor Hillary has to give a speech through clenched teeth....her passion will be hard to detect, but she will do what she has to for Dems....so glad I don't have to.
HILLARY SUPPORTER FOR McCAIN!!!!

In the polls Obama and McCain are in a dead heat.
