The 'Dark Horse' Says He’s 'A Workhorse, Not a Show Horse'

ABC News' Yunji de Nies reports from Waco: Texas Democratic Congressman Chet Edwards says he’s managed to stay below the radar, though he is being considered for Barack Obama’s running mate – and has been for at least the last two and a half months.

Veepbeat_generic_blog_3 Speaking to reporters on his front lawn in Waco, Edwards said, “I’m unknown to most Americans, I’m probably better known at my son’s little league ball games and Boy Scout camp outs than in the social circles in Washington, DC.  I try to be a work horse, not a show horse in Washington.”

Edwards gave no details on his contact with the Obama campaign, saying, “There’s only one person who’s gonna make that decision and that’s Sen. Obama and I’m going to respect that.”

He said he too has signed up for the Obama campaign’s vice presidential text message announcement and does not yet know when he is going to Denver.

Asked what he would bring to a national campaign, the Congressman cited his work for veterans and military families.  Edwards is the chairman of the House Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Appropriations subcommittee.

Even Obama wouldn't be foolish enough to pick this guy. would he? The pick will be announced to coincide with the evening news. isn't that obvious?

Obama is screwing withe the media and won't announce until tomorrow and enjoying what he thinks is everybody's attention ON HIM. Thank God it's almost the last week of sumer and everyone is at the beach, shopping for school supplies, flying here and there AND NOT WAITNG WITH BAITED BREATH!
HILLARY SUPPORTER FOR McCAIN!

I am sick to death of seeing and hearing about Barack Obama. Is this man supposed to be the center of our very existence? I cannot turn on the radio or television without seeing this man's face. I can't look at a magazine without seeing this man's face. He tries to make himself the center of the universe, and I just want him to disappear. It took me eight years to get sick of the Clintons, and less than one year to get sick of Obama. I just can't stand the thought of eight years of this man!! I pray to God the Republicans win this election, and I can't believe I'd ever make a statement like that in my entire life.

Obama will win this election no matter how loud the trailer park crowd moans or the corporations try to discredit him. Why? Because its time to have a none white good ol' boy president. That's why.
And Obama just happens to have a brain AND charisma... I know I know both not necessary when applying for the job as well all very well know.

YES WE CAN!!

"AS for those claiming not to care about the VP Pick, what are you doing watching this blog then?"

tee hee, gotcha!

I'm sorry but a running mate with the last name EDWARDS is not a good idea at this time. They will lose tooooooo much time making sure people know it's not JOHN EDWARDS .... They don't have time for that at this point with 0bama sinking like a rock.

racism is alive and well in america.
isnt it amazing that these bigots only have such juvenile things to say? Keep on laughing racists, because the world is laughing at you- and guess what? "white people" are the minority in this world so get used to it. besides, you;re the ones who went and colonized, raped, pillaged and plundered leaving economic and social devastation in its wake. GOOD WORK. (idiots) and to those hillary supporters for mc cain: jealousy is unbecoming- the fact that you would pick someone who is antithetical to hillary's core beliefs just because your lady lost, shows how shallow your political commitment to change is. so you know what, maybe you WILL get the president YOU deserve: McCain. Just don't come crying to the rest of us when he screws you over. just dont make the rest of us feminists look bad.
OBAMA 2008!

To K. Arma - I have to laugh at you - seems I live in an area where ALL Dems will be voting for McCain - and we are not in the trailor park -HAHAH - wish you could see where we do live!
Guess we must be educated to have such careers to afford this life-style - but - then again only the rich people vote for obama.
Obama will NEVER be elected for one reason - he is NOT qualified - simple FACT.

Posted by: Kris | Aug 22, 2008 7:49:36 PM

The media has been had - suckers!
Screwed over by the obama gang. Free 24/7 press - all for show - just like American Idol - he is a Disgrace.
Who cares who this FRAUD picks - he will never win - he is an Arrogant, Radical FRAUD.

Kris, why won't you say where you live.

Im not that sure if Hussein Obama is a muslim, or communist, or hates America with Michelle or somthing. And to attack anyone who owns seven houses, is most ridiculous. What is wrong with this guy?

Well interesting posts but the real solution to our country's problems is not Obama or McCain. We need fundamental change. Our country needs to revise its Constitution to adopt a Parliamentary Form of Government as have virtually all Modern Democracies. The system as it now is constructed does not truly reflect the goals, wishes, and aspirations of the electorate. The System has been corrupted by Big Business, PACS and the total disinterest of many voters. The sad fact is that MONEY is what our Political System is now about, not issues. Therefore major reconstruction is needed in the way that the electorate is allowed to gain representation, and the manner and length of time which those in power are allowed to serve. Politics should not be a career, Our founding Fathers are probably rolling in their graves at the way their ideas have been perverted.

Wayne wake up this is not a democracy it is a REPUBLIC!

No parliments please, it bad enough as it is!

Free all the taxation slaves and do what the Federal Government was ment to do. Transportaions, security and treaties. Get out of every thing else.
PS NOT MR. OBAMA please!!!!!!!!!
