The Note: Obama Poised to Claim Democratic Party
August 28, 2008 10:19 AM
ABC News' Rick Klein reports in Thursday's Note:
DENVER --
Even if it’s disappointed those who were looking for chaos rather than comity, they’ve had their roles: The defeated rival, coming to terms with a real kind of inevitability; the former leader, bestowing his blessings at long, long last; an evening capped by the grizzled veteran, basking in his moment -- and lighting the path for the chosen one.
In case Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., needed to see how it was done on Thursday, a couple of old pros made it work for him Wednesday. By the time Obama heard the roar of the crowd for himself, a convention that looked dangerously close to veering off track was tantalizingly close to fulfilling its goals.
Sen. Joe Biden, D-Del., made the case for Obama -- and against Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz. -- more eloquently, coherently, and tactically than maybe even that guy at the top of the ticket.
Former President Bill Clinton completed the sentiments his wife started (but didn’t finish) articulating the night before -- and for a night, and perhaps now for a campaign, we witnessed grace and generosity.
Read the rest of The Note -- and get all the latest on the 2008 election, Congress, the White House and the wide world of politics every day -- from Rick Klein by bookmarking this link.
And the masterstroke: Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, D- N.Y., made the final, minutely choreographed gesture herself. “Clinton did the honors for the man who had denied her dream of becoming the first woman ever nominated to lead a major party,” Dan Balz and Anne Kornblut write in The Washington Post.
(Suddenly, with McCain poised to pick a running mate, does it seem that the drama is drifting in the general vicinity of St. Paul?)
At last, a message: “This week's events served as a national debut, of sorts, for the Obama campaign attack machine, even if that machinery is operated mostly by supporters and aides, rather than the candidate himself,” Peter Wallsten and Doyle McManus write in the Los Angeles Times. “It was clear that the campaign has settled on its favorite theme: portraying McCain as out of touch economically and an identical twin to President Bush.”
Now, Obama just has to give at least the second-best speech of his life Thursday night at Invesco Field at Mile High -- while not letting the setting become the story. (He’s presumptive no more, but that doesn’t take care of presumptuous.)
“His campaign has gambled on the historic moment by creating a stage that will magnify his performance,” Eli Saslow writes in The Washington Post.
“Succeed here, in front of the largest Democratic National Convention crowd in nearly 50 years, and Obama's speech will be remembered as one of the most powerful moments in modern politics, a perfect launch into the final stage of the general election,” he writes. “Fail, and Obama risks fueling Republicans' criticism that he is an aloof celebrity, fond of speaking to big crowds, but incapable of forming genuine connections.”

I am going to vote for Obama because he is black.
And i will bet the farm that the Clinton's will vote for McCain after they are forever labeled RACISTS thanks to Obama

The best thing is after Obama loses we will never have to see the Freak Show Obama or the Freak Show Ted Kennedy ever again
Posted by: roffer | Aug 28, 2008 10:31:36 AM
The truth of the matter its only because of blacks that Obama will not lose in a landslide not the college punks or the YUPPIES like the MEDIA wants you to believe.
Take away the black vote and Obama would be already losing in the polls by 10 percent.
Posted by: denny boy | Aug 28, 2008 10:34:06 AM
Left-wing radicals, like Jeremiah Wright, Michael Pfleger, and William Ayers, are closer to making America "an Obama nation".

Denny: "The truth of the matter its only because of blacks that Obama will not lose in a landslide"
Okay fair enough. African-Americans are something like 11-12 percent of the population, and they are supporting Obama heavily... by roughly the same percentages as they supported Kerry, and Gore...
But you are right. If you take away that reliable voting bloc, the Democrats have a much tougher time. So, what's your point?
Someone could make the same point regarding McCain's numbers. "Sure, its close, but look how much of a landslide it would be if we took out the evangelical vote."

Obama is fighting for all of us....including hammer time, roofer and denny boy.
When Obama wins and your life improves, please remember your disgusting racist juvenile comments you have made today.
OBAMA/BIDEN for the people of this Nation.

beck - I'll tell you what frightens me a little. A guy who has so little self-control he once reacted to being interrupted by trying to start a fight with the offending 95-year-olds... that guy suddenly being given U.S. nuclear launch codes.

President Clinton's speech last night was fantastic. He's a natural and all hostility is forgiven. Go Bill!
I laugh when I think of how the inarticulate GWB is stessed that the bar has been set. GWB can't even read from a teleprompter without bumbling.

Fox News is reporting that Bill Clinton is telling people off-record in Denver that Obama is a "Chicago thug." Hannity betting Clintons will do all they can behind the scenes to make sure Obama loses, already planning Hillary's run in 2012. Biden and Obama can't stand each other, Obama was forced to take Biden to shore up natl affairs experience. Jamie Allman, 97.1 in St. Louis, reporting that tension on floor reached fever pitch yesterday. Some Hillary supporters threatening to walk off floor, Obama supporters pleading with them to stay. Jimmy Carter's nerves frazzled, screamed at Rosalyn in the elevator. Harry Reid turning his back on Fox Reporters, won't answer questions about surge in Iraq, claims Dems are a united Party. Some Hillary supporters laughing at the temple, referring to Obama as a Greek God. Obama supporters grumbling about "racist" Hillary supporters. Yep, this is a real united Party.

For anyone who is wondering (because they presumably know so little about the guy they are supporting), that previous message was a reference to McCain.
McCain started a scuffle with a 95-year-old Strom Thurmond a few years back.
Thurmond's offense was to ask if McCain was almost done speaking, while on the floor of the Senate. McCain seethed, thanked Thurmond for his "courtesy," and then waited to catch Thurmond later in a Capitol hallway.
I guess we can take some relief in the fact that McCain at least had enough self-control to wait a couple minutes, and not go right after Thurmond on the floor of the Senate.
Posted by: Paul | Aug 28, 2008 10:59:31 AM
This is the two really disturbing parts here. One is how little it take to get McCain seething mad. The second is that so many of his supporters seem to know so little about this.
You all heard he once called his second wife a really bad word, right? Do you know why?
According to reports, Cindy, before a campaign event, tasseled his hair and said, "you're getting a little thin here."
And he exploded with some incoherent, illogical, overly-emotional response along the lines of: "At least I don't plaster on the makeup like a trollop, you [expletive]."

Here's an interesting classroom activity. Let's all google "senator hothead" and see which of 100 current and who-knows-how-many past senators all the hits are about.

"In case Sen. Barack Obama needed to see how it was done on Thursday, a couple of old pros made it work for him Wednesday."
You guys just don't want to admit it, do you?
Obama is the one who made those "old pros" work for him last night.
Remember? He beat their pants off.

Just months ago, the Clintons said that Obama wasn't ready to be President. Now they say he IS ready. Were they lying then or lying now.
Bill Clinton shaking his finger as he spoke just brought back memories of his famous "sexual relations" retort.
Is honesty and integrity to be ignored by the Dems and the press?

Obama swoops in to claim his stolen prize.
Obama is a hypocrit who used Bush's florida tactics to steal the nomination. He is the epitomy of chicago politics. Evil and corrupt.
His unending train of questionable friends and associates just go to prove how much his judgement is lacking. Either that or he is as corrupt as those friendships make him look. Either way he has no business even being considered for office.
Bill and Hillary are saying and doing all the right things. They can't be blamed for Obama's inevitable loss in november. He has run out of kool-aid, the country isn't buying his lies.
Hillary will pick up the pieces of the broken democratic party after november. She will return it to the center and come 2012 take the presidency.

Paul: I totally agree with you on all of the above.
I wish before people praised McCain they would actually take some of that time that they are using and go and find out WHO McCain really is and what he is really all about. The true McCain, the McCain who voted 95% (when he showed up for work) of the time against each and everyone of us is an empty suite, hot head, arrogant, juvenile, loser.

Hillary2012: "Either way he has no business even being considered for office."
So you're going to vote for someone who is more fit for office... as in someone who explodes and calls his wife the c-word, someone who explodes and attacks 95-year-olds...
Someone who so regularly explodes and showers the walls of the Capitol with with language ABC won't let us post here that he's earned the universal nickname of Senator Hothead...
Someone who exploded at those damned Russkies, basically claiming his intent as president to consider a Russian attack on Georgia as an attack on the United States... a bizarre reaction that even experienced national security hands from his own party didn't echo...
Someone like that? That's who you're supporting?
Just checking.

I’m surprised that Barack will be rising up out of the floor. I thought they’d have him descend from the heavens, or perhaps ride in on a chariot followed by an adoring mass of peasants and young Greek boys. When he claims the throne, will Emporor Obama have President Clinton banished from the empire for calling him a Chicago thug? More importantly, I’m worried about the Emporer’s position on nutrition. I know he wants Americans to eat less, and I really am trying. Last night I went off the wagon and had a Culver’s cheddar burger, fries and large drink. During the reign of Agustus Octavia Obama, will I be charged a surtax on drive-through orders? Will peasants such as myself be allowed to offer criticisms of the Emperor, or will we be arrested on charges of Racism Against Obama the Magnificent? If so, will our punishment consist of mere imprisonment, or might we be thrown to the lions? I’m just curious . . .

Hillary2012: Obama did not corrupt anything. You will never get over this will you....Hillary wrote florida off right along with the others...she lost the caucus states and started to cry fowl.... some questionable friends....LOL... You really don't want to go down that road with the Clintons do you?
Now if Hillary does run in 2012 what makes you so sure she will win?? what makes you so sure you will still want to vote for her... what makes you so sure there is not someone else who comes along that you feel more strongly about. This is not 2012...Hillary has lost... No one corrupted the race... she ran a bad race. She didn't think my vote here in Iowa counted... She wrote me off, then she went into florida trying to convince those people that they need to give her their vote because she is fighting for them... Now you are a smart person, our party is not broken, we will win in November with or without your support.. why...because as a crumbling nation who's middle class has been destroyed...it is apparent that we do.

Jealous you Republican losers??
The Democratic Party's convention is a HUGE SUCCESS and will be topped off tonight by a great speech from a great and true American leader!!!!
The Republican convention by contrast will be a BIG disappointment and boring FAILURE!!!!
The highlights will include speeches by the biggest failure that has ever occupied the White House, George Bush and his evil side kick (the true brains) Cheney!
We are all wondering whether McBush can even fill the convention hall! Because there is no way he could ever fill a 75,000 seat stadium!!!!
He can barely fill his phony town halls with a couple hundred hand picked losers!
Ha ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha!!!!
What a JOKE THE REPUBLICANS ARE!!!!!
Obama/Biden 2008!!!!!!!!!

HRC supporters - now that the primaries finally have come to an end on Wednesday, there is no need to tell the Zerobameus blind-supporters or anyone for the matter whom we have voted for. We respect HRC's choice and her appeal for unity, but we also have our own choice and decisions. We are against Zerobameus, and it is not simply because HRC's win or not being nominated so she is not to be blamed in November. We are now simply those dems who will not support Zerobameus, the God of Nothingness from the Temple of Doom on top of Mile High.

Even HE is sick of the Republican EVIL DOERS and their lies as well!
So HE is sending Hurricane Gustov to the Gulf Coast to remind the WHOLE COUNTRY about the horrible human tragedy caused by Hurricane KATRINA 3 years ago and what incompetent FAILURES the REPUBLICANS are!!!!
So FOCUS FOR THE FAMILY and the rest of the "lying thieving con artist right wing-nut Evangelicals" better start praying that Hurricane Gustov is not too BIG, instead of praying for rain on Obama's speech tonight!!!!!!!
Maybe this is gods PAYBACK to the evil Republicans and their henchmen "praying for something bad to happen to Obama."
PAYBACK from the BIG MAN upstairs???

Obama won the first 9 primaries before his 20 year relationship with the anti-American racist Wright hit the news. That leveled the playing field and it was nip-and-tuck after that. Even so, Clinton almost won. Obama then dumps her for vice President, further splitting the party. To top it off, he turns the responsibility of uniting the party over to her at Denver. He is a shallow and unprincipled person, best suited to be a dog-catcher.

A LITTLE HUMOR, SO TO SPEAK..
And it came to pass that the national anthem was played and the ONE placed his hands over the wrong place. Thus he was spared and he traveled the land, speaking to the crowds while often raising his head heavenward, as tho getting cues. And yea tho he walketh in the shadow of Wright, his charisma is great, and he plodeth on to achieve stardom. Then came a great gathering of the faithful in the west, and lo and behold, the appointed ONE came forth from the Greek temple, saying "A light will shine down... from somewhere. The actual facts are well documented: McCain dumped his first wife, a former model named Carol, because she had lost her looks, gained a lot of weight, and had to wear a catheter. She had been in a crippling car accident while he was in Vietnam.
That just wouldn't do. More importantly, John had a chance to marry big money. After running around on her with a variety of women for a while, McCain began dating Cindy Lou, whose father had made gazillions from a beer distributorship. He lied about his age at first; she, in fact, was nearly 20 years younger.
And oh, yes — he was still married!
Well, shucks, a war hero can't remember everything. Give him credit for this much: When he knew his rich girly girl was willing to marry him, he finally did ask poor Carol for a divorce. He even agreed to keep paying her medical bills, now that he was fixed for life.
Incidentally, he did have the decorum to wait a decent interval after the divorce before marrying Cindy. A whole month, in fact.
You may not want to envy Cindy McCain, however.
New hubby John was nowhere to be found when she suffered two of her three miscarriages. Or her stroke in 2004, when a friend's husband had to take her to the emergency room.
Not surprisingly, he hadn't even noticed when, in 1992, she became a Percocet and Vicodin addict, and began stealing the drugs from the nonprofit charity she founded. He finally got it when his wife was busted later by the federal DEA. (You or I would have gone to the slam, like thousands of other folks have in Michigan. Cindy McCain got off with community service.)

It certainly did not surprise me that Obama would pick a VP who would distort facts and tell outright lies more than he has during the campaign. Birds of a feather flock together and drop their "twitters" on the heads and shoulders of honest people.
Senator McCain is an American hero, believes in America and its people. Obama believes in rights for criminals, racism, socialism, communism, Marxism, hate and distortions of facts.

Why do Obama supporters consider him a PERFECT Man and distorts McCain's life and service to his country.
Obama was a drug user and may still be, he has homo relations with Larry Sinclair and Don Young (who ended up dead), he has a 'love child' he abandoned and he is a perpetual liar. He is the most corrupt politician in the last 100 years but was selected by affirmative action, not by the will of the voters. He is a combination of the criminal Rezko, the terrorist Bill Ayers and the racist, hate monger Rev. Wright. He can not be scrubbed clean or decent in the next 100 years. He is a scumbag. Honest Americans have been politically raped.

Paul:
As Mary said:
"Senator McCain is an American hero, believes in America and its people. Obama believes in rights for criminals, racism, socialism, communism, Marxism, hate and distortions of facts"
Plus you have ONLY Obama's word that the following is irrelevant:
Obama is half muslim.
He studied the koran for 2 years.
His relatives are muslim.
He is friends with the anti-American Wright.
He is friends with the terrorist Supporter Ayres.
Maybe McCain has just enough rascal in him to handle the tough guys. I'd take him anyday, at least I know d--n well he has not been pals with people who knock America.

Senator Biden son's speech was very heartwarming and sincere. He showed his father's strength and dedication to his family. I am sure Senator Biden is a dedicated and sincere man as a Senator also. If I was a Democrat I would feel much more comfortable with him leading the ticket instead of Mr. Obama. This scenaio is like a student teaching the teacher. It is ridiculous to comprehend that Mr. Obama can handle all the serious problems our nation is facing now and in the future.
The recent invasion of Georgia by Russia is nothing to be taken lightly.
Dealing with Russia's muscle flexing on top of the rhetoric and verbal threats to attack Poland possibly with Nukes is very threatening to the world. Ladies and Gentlemen, the COLD WAR is back!!
I believe Russia is testing the U.S. at this time to see how Senator McCain and Mr. Obama explain how they will deal with the Georgia situation in the Presidental debates.
Our country needs a very experienced leader to deal with Russia, North Korea, Iran and Terrorism. What scares me the most is if Mr. Obama becomes President he will surround himself with incompetent advisors. His past associations with his radical church, Rev. Wright, Farrankhan, Bill Ayes and Rezko shows his JUDGEMENT is least to be desired.
I'm sorry; Democrat,Republican, Liberal or whatever you are, there is too much at stake with an inexperienced President. Don't forget, Senator Biden himself said that Mr. Obama is not experienced enough to lead our nation. Don't believe for one minute that Mr. Obama is going to take much advice from Senator Biden on foreign policy. He is much too egotistic and arrogant to let Senator Biden take center stage.
The economy may be a big issue at this moment, but believe me, foreign policy plays a much bigger role in the end. You thought the Iraq war hurt our economy. Think what will happen to our economy if we get hit again with a major terrorist attack or even worse, a war with Russia.
The choice is clear..Senator McCain will keep our country and the free world safe. Vote McCain!!

Good points pee vee..you can bet whomever is elected will be tested by our enemies so you need to ask yourself who is most prepared for this task...Obama 5 years Senate experience...McCain 26 years Senate experience...
HRC states:
"I think that I have a lifetime of White House experience and I think that John McCain has a lifetime of White House experience and Senator Obama has a speech he gave back in 2002.."

2. Obama has very close links to the convicted Weathermen terrorist bombers Bill Ayres and Bernardine Dohrn. He shared board memberships with Ayres on the Woods Fund and the Chicago Annenberg Challenge. This and most of the following scandals are detailed in Tarpley's "Obama - The Postmodern Coup: Making of a Manchurian Candidate," released in June.
3 Obama is very close to the racist demagogues Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Otis Moss III, Hopkins, Meeks, and Pfleger.
4 Obama has been accused in Federal Court of using crack cocaine by Larry Sinclair, along with gay sex. The Obama camp retaliated by arresting Sinclair in an enemies list operation by Beau Biden, son of veep candidate Joe Biden.
5. The mysterious deaths of black gays in and around Wright's Church: Donald Young, Nate Spencer, Larry Bland could be linked to Obama.
6. Obama's relations to Chechen Terrorism through Ilyas Achmadov.

McCain bows under pressure for the Religious right and will pay for it big time. Palin is now taking a four week course in foreign relations, so that she can be prepared to meet with Putin if she has to. We thought that Palin was very lucky to be asked after the first date but it seems that McCain has a history of making fast, instinctive and sometimes risky decisions. "I make them as quickly as I can, quicker than the other fellow, if I can," McCain wrote, with his top adviser Mark Salter, in his 2002 book, "Worth the Fighting For." "Often my haste is a mistake, but I live with the consequences without complaint." YIKES..........
