Website Suggests Obama-Bayh Ticket

Share

August 01, 2008 11:27 AM

ABC News' Matt Jaffe and Rick Klein report: Type ObamaBayh08.com into your web browser. Where do you think it'll take you? Go ahead, do it.

Bet you didn't expect to suddenly be staring at the Democratic National Committee's official website.

Veepbeat_generic_blog_2 Hmm. What about other potential running mates? Let's try ObamaKaine08.com. Nope, doesn't take you to the DNC site.

Maybe ObamaBiden08.com? Nothing doing.

ObamaSebelius08.com? Strike three.

So, in the midst of the current vice-presidential speculation, is it possible that we may have just stumbled upon a clue that Barack Obama's eventual Democratic running mate in 2008 will be none other than Indiana Sen. Evan Bayh?

Bayh, of course, is rumored to be one of the leading contenders for Obama's vice-presidential slot. So is this an unexpected Internet hint about the hotly-debated missing half of Obama's ticket?

Not so fast, warns a DNC official, who says that the connection is simply the result of someone out in Internet land buying the domain name and directing it to the DNC site. Let there be no doubt: ObamaBayh08.com is in no way an official DNC site.

Oh well, it would've been too easy. But if nothing else, fodder for the rumor mill...

Obama has peaked and now is in a downward free fall. Frankly I could care less he wont get my vote! I'll give Mac 1 term in office and then it's HILLARY all the way in 2012.....

If he puts Hillary Clinton on the ticket, I'll vote for McCain.

If you people digging in the hinterlands for obscure news, why not dig into the beer name "Cristal", and find out why a ranking member of the Senate Commerce committee, McCain, has had absolutely zero to say about the purchase of Budweiser by InBev, and the company's association with the Communist Cuban government's take over of this business associate of InBev's. Seems strange that one who has been a staunch advocate against trade with Cuba has little or nothing to say about this deal. Anyone think the fact that McCain stands to be enriched by several million's may have something to do with his silence?

Bayh --- as boring as Obama is stupid.

Ok, gotta go check the tire pressure on my cars. Boy, am I saving gas.

Yes sir, if you like $4/gallon gas, you will love Obama and the Dems.

The Hillarybots just won't give it up. You people must have dark-lit altars to the Clintons in your basements. If she is on the ticket, I won't be voting for it. The only thing creepier than the Clinton family are the people that worship them like a cult of Clintonistas.

Actually Bayh would probably be the best pick for Obama, if he doesn't want Hillary and/or Hillary doesn't want to be on the ticket. I don't know if he'd help Obama much but he wouldn't hurt him and he wouldn't show up Obama too much. I think McCain is going to pick a conservative woman as his VP. It would be the smartest thing he could do.

Mr. Chan probably only did this in the event that it is an Obama/Bayh ticket, he could "sell" the domain name and make lots of $$$. I don't think this is anything else. Chan probably has others too .

Far astray from his usual level headed demeanor, Obama is teeming on racial issues to strike out at Hillary and now John. I don't believe either is racist and the dollar bill comments have exposed a major issue with the Dem's candidate.

Mariann- Stop complaining. I'm as aware of that as I am of Bill Clinton avoiding fighting in Vietnam just like Bush, Quayle, Gephardt, and Cheney. Hillary spun a yarn about 'visiting a recruiter and being denied'. They're all cowards. Hillary voted to invade Iraq- that's poor enough judgement for me. Keep her and her husband away from the switches. They're as bad as the Bushes and Cheneys.

Bayh would be a very interesting pick, wuold swing Indiana towards the Dems, and that along with Virginia would start to bring 270 into range. (Not that I think the Dems should be necesarilly aiming only for 270 this year.) I think he could be a Gore-a-like for Obama, not necesarilly bringing excitement but Obama's ticket doesn't need that, he owuld though bring a bit of gravitas and executive experience.

Matt Jaffe and Rick Klein have just shown us what terrible reporters they are. They put this sensationalist garbage on a "blog" so they dont have to do any actual reporting or fact checking. Using whois, the owner of this domain is listed, some guy who has nothing to do with the DNC or the Obama campaign. Shame on ABC for publishing this junk and calling it news. It took me 30 seconds to find out this information.

Regarding the Bayh thing - That is the level that journalism...Just Publish...No research.

Mariann Pepitone

You crack me up! Do you really think people are believing all your Bill O'Reilly and Sean Hannity spin? Give us all break, will you?

Posted by: Cheetah Man | Aug 1, 2008 2:56:22 PM

Joey, you would be in the minority. Clinton carried many big states that Obama will need come Nov. If picking Clinton as VP will win the White House, then so be it. Maybe the DNC should listen to the majority for a change. I am not an Obama supporter per say, but I am a democrat. And I will vote that way, no matter who he picks. But many in my state that voted for Hillary and support her were swing voters and some republicans. We are a big union state and some of the unions supported Hillary as far back as May '08. We in OH need a dem in the White House badly. And they would make an indistructable team.

Hillary lost. Get over it. If you idiots vote for McCain, you get the more horrendous economy, more dead soldiers in Iraq, and reverse of women's rights that you deserve.
