Bill and Barack Reserve Table for Two

Share

September 07, 2008 3:59 PM

ABC's Kate Snow Reports: Former President Bill Clinton and Sen. Barack Obama will have a private lunch together in New York City on the anniversary of Sept. 11, according to Clinton Foundation spokesman Matt McKenna.

McKenna says Clinton knew Obama would be coming to town to recognize the anniversary with a joint appearance with Sen. John McCain scheduled at Ground Zero. Clinton invited the Democratic candidate to lunch.

Although Clinton has said he will campaign on behalf of Obama, there are no campaign events or public appearances scheduled for the two men as yet.

Bill owes Obama nothing.

Clinton had a 90 plus approval rating amongst African Americans due to his 8 year record in office - supporting affirmative action, appointing supreme courst justices who supported affirmative action and appointing a cabinet that "looked like America" (i.e.. diverse).

Yet Obama accused Clinton of racism in the days before the SC primary so he could get the African American vote.

Obama race baited - how's that for "change"

csh, you should just shut-up. I am black and work in downtown and guess you understand what I mean, Bill Clinton is still loved by the blacks but i must admit we were surprised with some of his comments then but no on is calling him a racist and no one has implied he is a racist though i must say some people on the blogs may have but those are blog comments. We do love Clinton and hope he does a lot for Obama. I will place Clinton in Ohio and Florida if I was Obama. Thats where he is so popular apart from West Virginia and Arkansas and he has the working class background just like Biden but dont know why Biden does not have that appeal.

Bill Clinton should tell Obama to stuff it along with his false accusations of racism against the most successful Democratic President in the last half century, a man who spent his entire life fighting against racism. Bill should send obama packing with his tail between his legs. Enough of this lying , hateful, empty suit. Give him the boot Bill!

Speak for yourselves, not for the other Blacks who love Bill and Hill and were GROSSLY offended by the race baiting Obama, who conveniently used Blacks to win the primaries and is now pandering big time to whites who can see through his shallow words. He thinks he has the Black vote locked up now so he doesn't need to address their concerns any longer. His actions don't match his rhetoric. His cocky, arrogant, racist self will go down in defeat in November. KICK HIM TO THE CURB Bill!!!

It wont' work, and obama will win (and I bet Hillary will get on the supreme court!).

Posted by: leeleelies | Sep 7, 2008 4:48:10 PM

Reading what some African Americans are finally saying about Bill, is very nice to read. Someone said the media played a major role in the division, we (I) knew it from the beginning, the fact that it was used and people bought into it was horrifying for those of us who know the truth about the CLINTONS. What promised to be such a PROUD time for Democrats turned ugly thanks to media. I hope that real unity at some point, could really happen. Joe Biden is a good man, but to use an overused cliche', "He's no Hillary!" Or Bill. See, they are not afraid to talk to ALL of us, any color, just the folks down here, where STATE COLLLEGE education reigns, a lot, thanks to the CLINTONS.

irma,
It just wasn't the media, it was the Obama camp playing the race card as a way to alienate Black voters from Hillary, so the messiah could win the votes. He's one of the most divisive politicians I've ever seen. His run for the WH has actually caused a wider rift in race relations than we've ever had in this country, helping to put us back many years.

Obama asserted in a Colorado Springs speech that the U.S. needs a “civilian national security force” that would be as powerful, strong and well-funded as the half-trillion dollar Army, Marines, Navy and Air Force. In the July 2 speech in Colorado Springs, Obama insisted the U.S. “cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives we’ve set.”He continued, “We’ve got to have a civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded.”"Big Brother had nothing on the Obamas,” said IBD. “They plan to herd American youth into government-funded re-education camps where they’ll be brainwashed into thinking America is a racist, oppressive place in need of ’social change.’

NeverObama, I know that, believe me. He took advantage of the media's attempt to lift him to the clouds, using Republican rhetoric ie (She's divisive, Old Washington Politics) when all along SHE was pushing forth an economic energy plan, promoting JOBS and global awareness, which is where BOBBY KENNEDY JR. was one of her major supporters. All that was lost among the rhetoric. I know and I remember. However, a lot of people weren't aware of how the manipulation was there. I also believed that the very media that built him up, would pull that rug out from under him. Instead, Republican strategy beat us out once again. Not that I was surprised, since Obama sold out to the media and CLINTON haters. Nevertheless, I want to see where the meeting takes us Clinton Democrats. I know the Clintons, good politicians and Democrats that they are, won't diss the very party that dissed them. Hopefully, now that Obama is aware of his mistake, which I feel he also needs to subtly acknowledge at some point with the Clintons, in public; things could turn this INCREDIBLY HISTORICAL, SURPRISE AT EVERY TURN RACE, around ONE MORE TIME! Can you imagine? I hope this isn't another tease from Obama.

But after hillary's convention speech, I got the message: Yeah, the democrats fight with each other, but the greater enemy is the other side of the aisle. Four more years of McCain would be a disaster for our country, and particularly a disaster for women in our country. (Among other things McCain has sworn to overturn Roe! He has opposed equal pay for equal work. He opposed martin luther king holiday.. and the list goes on).

Chipo – Maybe you need to read that slogan again.

I use it expressly to reflect my dissatisfaction as to how the Democratic Party has shown its total disregard and disrespect for women.

From all indications, the only thing that counts about women is our votes, which seems to be good only to promote men.

This time, when we had a totally electable woman, the DNC promoted and cheated for an unvetted male, with less qualifications, at the woman’s expense and then “selected” him over her.

That was not democratic nor was it right.

We all watched what happened and we won’t forget.

Hillary's policies are dead opposite of all of McCain's. Any hillary supporter who has even an iota of brains is going to vote Obama. PLUS Hillary is telling all her supporters to do exactly that.

I just saw McCain interview on CBS Face The Nation. McCain is not exciting when he makes a speech, but the man is amazing without any prepared text. Can't wait for Bill to be on the trail talking about Palin's experience as governor.

Bill will be able to point out the earmarks Palin asked for as mayor.

Bill will be able to point out that hundreds of mayors, senators, and representatives have more constituents than Palin answers to, but yet she has the highest per capita earmarks request of anyone. All this, while Alaska receives millions from big oil.

That will put the final nail in the Republican coffin.

It's true that politicians change their minds, it's a part of their evolution and the change in the context/state of the world.

However, when you change your mind every other week, that is not "evolution" but "pandering".

Slice it any way you want, Obama has fooled me once and I will not be fooled again.

The reality is that one does not hear much from the Clintons, Bushes, Carter or McCain's and Obama's opponents. The truth of the matter is that no one wants to stake their legacies, or future political careers on either individual untill a clear winner is indicated.

With politicians it is never country first, or even party first, it is and will always be me first.

It is always hype.

Well, if you do elect your hero McCain, you might be surprised that plenty of his positions are not what you think they are. Go find out what his positions were in 2000 and compare to now.

JustFound,

I haven't read her full comments on the position of contraception, just that I know she advocated teaching it in schools.

You seem to be saying she holds that it should be taught in schools.

If you ask me, the decision should be that of the parent's. Some have religious reasons to be against contraception and so you can't force their children to be taught something they don't agree with.

I admit to everything I said about any candidate...no problems with that.

I didn't look at the racism or sexism from either side. Politics is a rough and tumble game. We keep it in the party and then unite behind the candidate. At least we have in the past. Most of the charges and counter charges were made up by the media and hyped by the same media. As it is continuing to be done...by blogs like this.

This news must p***off obama supporters. They always said they don't need the Clintons!!! Yeah, you do.
Obama took that large overcrowed bus he has to get the Clintons out to help him.

I know Palin supports birth control, but she prefers abstinence. I think that is okay. Churches have a higher degree of success in inluencing kids on relationships over sex. There are kids who do fall through the cracks, but then there are kids who have contraception available too who fall through the cracks. I think Planned Parenthood should advertise then, if that's what we end up with. I am disappointed to find out that BILL reached out to Obama. I guess I got excited a little too quick there.

Who cares what these two racist creeps do? Bill had to point out that Obama was and then Obama had to point out that he was black! Bill Clinton lost his credibility when he lied to the American people. Come to think of it, Obama did the same! The two liars lunch!

We all watched what happened and we won’t forget.
“How dare any so called puma quote Susan B. Anthony as a reason to vote for McCain? He opposes equal work for equal pay, reproductive rights and voted 14 times against raising the minimun wage!!!!
My gosh, how stupid are some of you folks?”
Wait, don't answer that...the posts speak for themselves...in dialect."

We dare, we can and we do.

Speaking of wages, when is Obama going to give his female staffers a raise so they make what his male staffers make?

Crickets chirping …

Weave smoking? Go douse it with some kool-aid. :D

PUMA! McCain/Palin 2008 - In lieu of Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton.

"No self respecting woman should wish or work for the success of a party which ignores her sex.”

She opposes anything taught in school except abstenence. She opposes mention of contraception in schools. Opposing teaching of fact is state sponsored ignorance.

On the subject of ignorance, apparently she also approves of teaching creationism in school and doesn't believe in global warming.

The democratic party blatantly demeans women?

Are you serious? That is an argument that won't hold any type of water. Give me details as to how the republican party has become the party that respects women. Then contrast that with the democratic party platform. Write it down and give me details. Maybe you can sway me that the party that wants to declare every maxi-pad as a crime scene is the party that will support my rights as a woman. I will wait.

And my one word answer is not a refusal to discuss, it is a comment about your previous post. It is easily understood by those who profess to enjoy plain talking.

JustFound,

You need to be more careful in your accusations:
1. Once again, Plain supported contraception being taught in sex ed at school. Just google it and you'll find articles.
2. As far as teaching creationism, I haven't looked into her comments in detail there.
3. As far as global warming, she DOUBTS the extent to which people blame humankind for causing global warming. And this skepticism is very popular in the wake of Al Gore's over the top claims.

Don't forget about the book banning and firing anyone who doesn't agree with her.

All self respecting women will abondone the Democratic Party, that appointed an unqualifed male over a qualified woman that won the most votes, by suppressing the delegates of Michigan and Florida, when they knew inthe end they would be given a full vote.

Women need to leave the Democratic Party and vote with their feet and their voices and their ballots in Nov! The Dmeocrats, especially in their most recent attacks on Sarah palin have proven themselves to be the party of mysoginy and hatred towards women.

Supporting women's choices means supporting their CHOICE to have children and a career and not calling them "shrill" when they dare to run for office.

Women for Palin! Blacks left the Republican PArty. WOmen need to do the same to the democrats and stop being used by them. Women who support all choices a woman can make clearly need to vote Republican after this last weeks venom and blatent mysoginy.

I don't have to agree with every position Palin has to vote for her. McCain Palin '08!
