Bush to Speak to Republican Convention
September 01, 2008 10:56 PM
ABC’s George Stephanopoulos reports: After skipping the opening day of the Republican National Convention to personally check the emergency response to Hurricane Gustav, President George W. Bush will keep his appointment with the party faithful.
Bush will speak to the RNC Tuesday in St. Paul, one day after the convention opened to an abbreviated schedule due to the storm.
Hurricane Gustav hit the Gulf Coast almost three years to the day after Hurricane Katrina devastated the area, and left deep political wounds on Bush and his administration.
Eager to demonstrate the lessons learned from the Katrina criticism, Bush visited evacuee centers in Texas today. And Republican candidate John McCain spent the day at a disaster relief agency in Ohio and packed boxes of cleaning supplies to be sent to the relief effort.
After a day off to focus on the storm, the party will resume in St Paul with a complete convention program Tuesday.
Speakers expected in the primetime schedule, 10-11 pm ET, include: Sen. Joe Lieberman, Independent of Connecticut and Al Gore's 2000 campaign runningmate on the Democratic ticket, and former Sen. Fred Thompson of R-Tenn.

How much did Racist Obama have to pay Rev Wright to put a muzzle on his racist mouth
Posted by: hamburter | Sep 1, 2008 11:13:26 PM
Over a year the media sat on the story that Obama attended the WHITE HATE church for over 20 years. This would of changed the election in IOWA with out a doubt. But less than a week for them to report a teenager got pregnant. This proves why they did not report the sex scandal that J Edwards had. The media is so far left they are sicking

hamburter,
Wow, a lot of sour grapes there buddy...
You are off subject there though. We are all talking about McDummy's pick for VP, Sarah Beauty Queen Palin!!
She is the laughing stock around all of America's water coolers and the gift that just keeps on giving!!
We LOVE HER!!!

Hamburter,
Why don't you stop making your stupid and meaningless racist comments you damn biggot. It is too bad that McCain is going to lose by a landslide. You will get over it in due course.

The levees aren't holding up well. There was plenty of time, 3 years, to address the problem. But of course, there's enormous relief that the losses and problems were far from some expectations. I'm very happy to hear George Bush will be at the RNC, and I hope sincerely that Cheney will show also.

what happened to all that experience talk? oh thats right your talking points have been lambasted because now you realize your guy made a vp on a political gamble, a political gimmick... and after months of the attacks the message that the campaign has polished for you people was completley over written by such a crazy vp pick.
I mean its not bad enough that he just seemed to wake up one day and pick the vp for his candidacy (this shows judgment i might remind you), but at least he could have had SOME vetting done before the pick... like maybe on wednesday he could have done some digging around instead of... well today

CNN just had Obama on their network responding to what people have been saying ... that he has less executive experience than Palin ...
CNN is not a trustworthy channel. I was told that for many years but I did not believe that. I used to watch CNN everyday ... it is NOW that I understand what my colleagues have been telling me.
They have told me that CNN would pose issues with questions as if they were seeking the truth. But what they present after that is all one sided ... e.g in this election, everything they say is PRO-OBAMA.
So tune CNN OFF ... I now tune to FOX NEWS ... and instead of being a Rush Limbaugh critic which I was for years, CNN has turned me into a Rush Limbaugh listener ... IMAGINE THAT ... !!!
And do you wonder why statistics show Rush Limbaugh's radio show is gaining in listeners every year ... Rush Limbaugh, you have CNN to thank for that .

But now, I am voting MCCAIN/Palin ...
CNN does turn me off as well ....
Glad to stand with the Republicans this time around. Obamamania is so totally senseless, baseless. It is just totally crazy .. As if we have all lost our minds.
The fireworks display, the greek stage, the open arena with 70,000 , the euphoria over what? The Democrats are heralding someone who has done nothing really ...

Its great to hear that our honorable president will participate in the RNC, he has done a great job thru the years in keeping us as safe as possible, my hat is off for the man. Thank you kindly Mr. President for your integrity and sound judgement, I would have voted for you again if it were possible.
About NoBama, well, is not about him being kinda' black, is about little or no experience. McCain sweeps the floor with Hussein's experience. Okay, I also admit that I will never vote for anything even remotely connected to islam. I hate islam and Ayatollah crap and koran crap and Muhamad crap.

Looks like Obama didn't vet Biden. His brother and his LOBBYIST son (I thought lobbyists were evil according to Obama) are being SUED for HEDGEFUND fraud.
Obama has bad judgment.
Posted by: Jo | Sep 2, 2008 12:38:49 AM
Yes the protests at the RNC are bad. A bunch of Obama supporters smashing windows and hurling sandbags at buses of Cub Scouts.
Impressive bunch those leftwingers. You all must be so proud.
Posted by: Jo | Sep 2, 2008 12:39:55 AM
President Bush's presence at the RNC only serves as a reminder to us of how many mistakes can be made in 8 years and how many opportunities have been lost because the wrong man was in the White House.
It is in part because of these mistakes--and Sen. McCain's willingness to go along with them--that I will be voting for Sen. Obama, one of the best candidates of any party ever to campaign for President of the United States of America.

And do you know how many caves are in Pakistan? And do you know how we can safely get in there and get him out?
Or do you want to do like Obama and just INVADE them now?
Lol.
Posted by: Jo | Sep 2, 2008 12:41:17 AM
Mike, yes not all has been perfect but we all know Bush is a hell of a lot better than Al Gore or Kerry would have been.
And since Obama can't even crack 50% that means Bush not as unpopular as you all think.
Remember democrats in congress are at 9%
LOL.

Love the irony of it.

I love it when pubs go online and say they are dems now voting McBain. Not me...I'm a long time pub so disgusted with McCain and now his pick of Palin...that I'm voting Obama/Biden. I also use to religiously watch Fox news but now I see they are a biased network so I'm going to watch other networks. I also think that Palin should be president and her daughter should be VP...because they are good people.

Poor Jo...Sorry to inform you that the new USA Today poll that just came out tonight has Senator Obama at 50% to mccain's 43%.
And by the way...bush is TOTALLY unpopular to more than 80% of the country. Those of us who use our brains.

McCain has been trying to give us a third Bush term and now by adding Palin we have McCain trying to give us a third term for Bush/Cheney. We will not be fooled again as we all as a nation suffered through the worst President/VP in our history.

God is so angry at the Repugnicans, he ruined their convention and I have been laughing all day at Republicans on the defense about Sarah Palin and her Picture perfect family values...NOT! Now Dumbya has to try to save the day when they didn't want the idiot loser at their convention anyway... I am still laughing... it just doesn't get much better than this. I just can't wait to see the looks on the neocons faces when Obama wins by a LANDSLIDE!! Even white Republicans in my family who never voted for a Democrat are voting for him. They are so disgusted with what Bush and his cronies has done to this country, and they know that McCain is more of the same!
Posted by: Janie | Sep 2, 2008 1:08:04 AM
Serz,
You say you can't wait until Palin and Biden debate? That she is an expert and will knock him under the table?
Why then, was your unqualified VP candidate reported as praising Senator Obama's Energy Plan?
"We in Alaska feel that crunch and are taking steps to address it right here at home," Palin's press release read. "This is a tool that must be on the table to buy us time until our long-term energy plans can be put into place. We have already enjoyed the support of Alaska Senator Ted Stevens, and it is gratifying to see Senator Obama get on board."
Clearly no republican could EVER think highly of something that we evil democrats would put forward!
Id love to shake McCain's hand for effectively handing President Obama the election. He could not have made a worse political gamble!
Posted by: Ben | Sep 2, 2008 1:08:41 AM
Hey, all you "intellectual" Republicans--
all you have to do is watch poor (figuratively speaking, of course!)Cindy McCain attempting to speak today at RNC, and the especially SAD spectacle of Tim Pawlenty (who appeared ready to cry any moment) attempting to defend Sarah Palin to know what John McCain thinks of the American voter's IQ---not much!
President and First Lady Obama it will be---and how SWEET it will be----(just check the reservations for inaugural festivities---not many for Republicans! (it's a done deal, my redneck friends---just ask Andrea Mitchell!)

I used to teach American History and my specialty was the Civil War. One aspect of Civil War combat that I was never able to grasp personally was the breadth and depth of hatred that could compel large groups of men to stand -- sometimes within a stone's throw of each other -- and fire large lead balls at each other or to stab, club, bite and otherwise maim and kill each other hand-to-hand. Was it simple discipline or something more? Reading the comments above filled with bigotry, class and race hatred and simple ignorant prejudice has given me part of he answer. Were some of the more virulent commenters standing across the street from me I believe I could happily pull the lanyard of a cannon loaded with chain, nails, buckshot, old horseshoes and anything else that could be lethal and turn those social pimples into a fine red pulp. War is bad in that it kills off a disproportionate number of brave souls, but it does have the advantage of ridding society of some of the more unfortunate genetic and social misfits.

Whatever Bush says, no one (those with a working brain) would or should listen. The man believes in and practices LIES. That's all the GOP is about and that's all they have to stand on.
Can someone tell the Republicans that their days in history have been destroyed by Bush and Cheney?

The Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Barack Obama's fiery ex-pastor, re-emerged yesterday with a crude reference about race and sex in the White House.
"This ordinary boy [Obama] just might be the first president in the history of the United States to have a black woman sleeping at 1600 Pennsylvania legally," Wright said, referring to Michelle Obama, in a sermon at the Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church in Houston.

The Sarah Palin as vp is a mere sideshow to John McCain's Trojan Horse to Barack's
Obamacropolis!
The evangelicals are rallying behind him in battleground states, that will give him decisive victory come November!
By October, the October surprise is the return of soldiers by brigades in those states; marching in major streets in cities of major tv outlets! Can you imagine the emotional impact it will bring out to the viewers, their patriotism, and change of hearts to the President and to the new commander-in-chief John McCain?
Plus by late Mid October, well witness the massive bombing blitz of the Iran nuclear sites?
Guys, have fun with the remaining days of summer!

Only those drinking the KoolAid could think a vindictive bitchy little beauty queen whose family can't even follow what she forces on her should be a heartbeat away (from a 72-80 year old cancer survivor) from being ruler of the free world. And McCain questions OBAMA'S judgement? There are probably just enough idiots out there in this country who are happy to give the finger to anyone and choke their very selves along with an entire nation for another four years of incompetence.

Rev Wright didn't vote with Bush 95% of the time. That is, he didn't do anything to hurt the people of this country. He just ran his mouth off a few times. Everyone I know has the same problem. Same goes with you if you are honest.

The main difference between McCain/Bush supporters and Obama supporters? The facts are on Obama's side. Hope and change will trump fear and lies this time. McCain can only resort to attacks because he has absolutely nothing to run on.

Imagine That, it sounds like you were more interested in finding a news outlet to feed you Pro-McCain BS than an outlet that was actually objective.

What ceases to amaze me is the fact that everyone plays into "The President is Going to Change the Nation," but gives two damns who they elect as Senetors, Congressmen, or even local government.

Is it just me, or are there others out there that absoultely CRINGE when they hear either George W or Sarah Palin speak? I'm not talking about what they say, I'm talking about their fingers-on-a-chalkboard voices. I have no problem with McCain and no problem with Obama. But to hear Sarah Palin speak is like (and though it probably sounds like a joke I sadly don't mean it as one) listening to The Church Lady on some parody comedy show. And of course George W is like listening to a monkey. Heck, I'd rather listen to Ted Stevens talk than either George W or Palin. If this country wants to practice torture, all they have to do is tie someone to a chair and make them listen to an hour of either of these people's voices...

I think it's funny how Bush and McCain think their token gestures undo the fact that they horribly botched Katrina. I also believe that one of the above posters might be right in suggesting that Bush is using his speech to draw attention away from McCain's misguided VP pick. All in all, the republican party is still in the republican party and I agree with only a fraction of their policy positions. Bush has so aptly demonstrated how flawed the republican platform is that I find it hard to believe that anyone would vote for a continuance of their failures. I had respect for McCain prior to this election, but looking back it was only because he was a celebrity. I enjoyed his interviews on the talk shows and thought him funny, but the presidency of the United States is no laughing matter and he has turned this election into a mockery of our country, our people and our government. Now I am not only voting against the failed republican agenda, but against McCain.

Who blotched Katrina? Was it Bush, FEMA, State Government, Local Government? It is only fair to spread some of the blame around. Complete failure on all levels government is a more correct statement. It was not an individual's fault, nor a particular political party's fault, rather many people's fault with different political views.

the repubs are just freaking out because dems are finally punching back. obama is making mccain look bad without resorting to mudslinging or attacked on patriotism. the conservative pundits and politicians need to stop acting like blushing brides and play the game they invented.
p.s. abc - you needs to moderate your comment section better so it actually pertains to posting.

Repigs are morons as well as moral idiots. They have done all they can to destroy the Constitution and the Bill Of Rights. They are a criminal conspiracy. They must never be allowed to assume political power again. Throw out the Repigs!

Too bad I'll miss that. I am sure they will replay it. Why would they let somebody who butcher's the English language speak at the convention. His approval rating is non existent. They should put the Republican convention on the Comedy channel. Is he going to speak about his successes? That will take about 2 seconds.

Don't worry for all of the Obama followers that are being so cruel to Palin and her daughter, the rest of us will remember this when Rev. Jeremiah Wright makes his comeback next month.
Everyone remember "God bless America, NO, NO, NO, G
