Bush to Speak to Republican Convention

Share

September 01, 2008 10:56 PM

ABC’s George Stephanopoulos reports:  After skipping the opening day of the Republican National Convention to personally check the emergency response to Hurricane Gustav, President George W. Bush will keep his appointment with the party faithful.

Bush will speak to the RNC Tuesday in St. Paul, one day after the convention opened to an abbreviated schedule due to the storm.

Hurricane Gustav hit the Gulf Coast almost three years to the day after Hurricane Katrina devastated the area, and left deep political wounds on Bush and his administration.

Eager to demonstrate the lessons learned from the Katrina criticism, Bush visited evacuee centers in Texas today. And Republican candidate John McCain spent the day at a disaster relief agency in Ohio and packed boxes of cleaning supplies to be sent to the relief effort.

After a day off to focus on the storm, the party will resume in St Paul with a complete convention program Tuesday.

Speakers expected in the primetime schedule, 10-11 pm ET, include: Sen. Joe Lieberman, Independent of Connecticut and Al Gore's 2000 campaign runningmate on the Democratic ticket, and former Sen. Fred Thompson of R-Tenn.

Looks like Obama didn't vet Biden. His brother and his LOBBYIST son (I thought lobbyists were evil according to Obama) are being SUED for HEDGEFUND fraud.

Obama has bad judgment.

Yes the protests at the RNC are bad. A bunch of Obama supporters smashing windows and hurling sandbags at buses of Cub Scouts.

Impressive bunch those leftwingers. You all must be so proud.

President Bush's presence at the RNC only serves as a reminder to us of how many mistakes can be made in 8 years and how many opportunities have been lost because the wrong man was in the White House.

It is in part because of these mistakes--and Sen. McCain's willingness to go along with them--that I will be voting for Sen. Obama, one of the best candidates of any party ever to campaign for President of the United States of America.

Roger, I believe you mean a cave in Pakistan.

And do you know how many caves are in Pakistan? And do you know how we can safely get in there and get him out?

Or do you want to do like Obama and just INVADE them now?

Lol.

Mike, yes not all has been perfect but we all know Bush is a hell of a lot better than Al Gore or Kerry would have been.

And since Obama can't even crack 50% that means Bush not as unpopular as you all think.

Remember democrats in congress are at 9%
LOL.

"I voted for Clinton, I even voted for Kerry .. and I am a Republican... I would have voted for Hillary ...

But now, I am voting MCCAIN/Palin ... "

What a lie. I could just as easily assume a fake name and pretend I voted for Reagan and Bush and Dole, but now plan on voting for Obama.

McCain is dangerous.

That's really too bad for GOP. Now they have much less respect from the country and the world for having a total idiot to speak at their convention.

Posted by: Barbara | Sep 2, 2008 12:44:45 AM

We're all voting McCain/Palin. The sane ones anyway.

The spectacle that is Obama just isn't catching on. If he can't win in these times with the press adoring him like a little puppy, then he can't win.

President McCain - get use to it.

Posted by: Jo | Sep 2, 2008 12:45:29 AM

Barbara, you mean Obama is speaking out our convention? Wow.

Lol. Moron.

Posted by: Jo | Sep 2, 2008 12:46:12 AM

Poor Obama. All those fireworks, that Greek temple, 40 million viewers...

And what did he get?

Tied with McCain.

LOLOLOLOL. There is a God.

The following is one of the funniest things I have ever read!

Its great to hear that our honorable president will participate in the RNC, he has done a great job thru the years in keeping us as safe as possible, my hat is off for the man. Thank you kindly Mr. President for your integrity and sound judgement, I would have voted for you again if it were possible.
About NoBama, well, is not about him being kinda' black, is about little or no experience. McCain sweeps the floor with Hussein's experience. Okay, I also admit that I will never vote for anything even remotely connected to islam. I hate islam and Ayatollah crap and koran crap and Muhamad crap.
IN GOD WE TRUST

I am so sure if Hitler could have done worse than Bush himself. But I am sure Hitler was smarter than Bush. They have at least one thing in common: they are both insanely evil.

Posted by: Katrina | Sep 2, 2008 12:48:12 AM

McCain just figured that since Obama didn't mean what he said about "change" (by picking insider Biden) then he didn't have to worry about "experience"....

Besides, McCain is ready from day one. We have to hope for Obama to die to get the guy who knows what he's doing.

That's a toughie. LOL.

yay golly gewillikers!!!! we're gonna get our footage! karl rove prevails yet again! so they'll find a soft yet gentle way to show sarah the door and place mitt in the driver's seat. mccain needs bushie now to take the attention off palin and palin and palin and why isn't the alaska secession a bigger story anyway.

Remember democrats in congress are at 9%
LOL.

You know why? Because they haven't had the guts to stand up to Shrub.

Posted by: JD | Sep 2, 2008 12:49:12 AM

kat,

All evil men are usually geniuses. But keep on comparing Bush to Hitler.

That'll get you lots of votes. Lol.

Nutbag.

Posted by: Jo | Sep 2, 2008 12:49:24 AM

Bring him on!

Posted by: serz | Sep 2, 2008 12:49:25 AM

JD, no probably because they're not doing anything. Like passing drilling legislation.

speaking of that, I can't wait till Palin debates Biden on energy policy. She's an EXPERT.

She'll knock him under the table cowering in fear. LOL

Wow!!!! the Republican trolls are out in force today flooding the blogs with their drivel. Hey, you know, it would be nice if you guys actually stuck to the subject the article addresses, namely, Bush. I find it fitting, both symbolically and literally that Bush jr. is addressing the convention on the second day after a hurricane forced him to cancel day one. After all, he is second rate. Love the irony of it.
