Giuliani Praises Palin, Slams Obama and Biden

ABC News' Jennifer Duck reports: In what could be dubbed a warm-up act before his big address to the Republican National Convention tonight, Rudy Giuliani defended Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and sharply attacked Democratic rivals Sen. Barack Obama and Sen. Joe Biden at the New York delegate luncheon in Minneapolis.

The former New York mayor said the "unrelenting attacks" on Republican vice presidential nominee Palin are "in the gutter" and "below the standards of journalism."

"I've never seen attacks like that, even in all my time in New York City," Giuliani said.

Giuliani touted Palin's experience as mayor and governor of Alaska, adding, "Sorry, Sen. Obama, if the city's not big enough for you."

He added with sarcasm, "They're probably part of that group of people that clings to religion and guns.  That's part of the group that doesn't count small town America. You don't study about them at Harvard, I guess."

Giuliani said the "vicious attacks" and questions about Palin's family "in all decency, should be off limits."

"What do her children have anything to do with what kind of vice president she's gonna make?" he asked. "What does anybody's children have to do with that?"

Giuliani also questioned feminists who, he believes, aren't defending Palin like they defended past female officials.

"Where are the liberal feminist groups?  Where are they?  I think they're really liberal groups.  Take the second part out," Giuliani said.  "Because how do you raise questions like this: 'Does Sarah Palin have the time to be a mother and vice president?' Well, I don't know, does Barack Obama have the time to be a father and president? John McCain? George Bush? Al Gore? John Kerry? I can go on and on. I never remember that question being asked."

Drawing a comparison to Sen. Hillary Clinton's run for the White House, Giuliani said, "Let's start treating Sarah Palin the same way we would if she were a Democratic woman on a ticket."

Giuliani then launched sharp attacks on Obama and Biden.

He counted the times Obama voted present in the Illinois legislature, saying, "You don't get to walk into the Oval Office when Russia is bombing Georgia and vote present and say, 'gee, guys, I'm here. You gotta tell me what to do.'"

Giuliani also criticized Biden for talking too much, practically calling him a Washington wind bag. "Joe's got a lot of experience -- talking, and talking, and talking," Giuliani said, adding that Palin "has experience doing."

What did Obama say that is worse than anything you have ever heard in a campaign ? Just like the GOP to make a moronic claim without backing it up. They cry sexism ( lie )

The contrast between both Democrats and Republicans is clear. The questions we ask of our candidates are important like theor judgment – Americans have a right to take a close look at McCain's choice of VP who is a heartbeat away from the Presidency.

I can see why people are not inspired by McCain's choice this was McCain running to the right, which left out the rest of America.

What doesn't inspire us is the Republicans are going after the media on this. We are talking about the mainstream media who are asking the questions that are on our minds about the decision making process of McCain.

Her daughter and her child will be cared for by her family, principally the father who already is the primary caregiver - not some public assistance program. Accordingly, the matter should be personal and private, and the mother will have time needed (as she does now) to earn an income for the family. The Angry Left is not made at her, per se, just anything that stands in their way.

Oh George, Its so sad that you actually believe that all Reverend Wright talked about in his sermons was the white devil. Its pathetic that you allowed soundbites to influence your opinion of the talented and gifted soldier of God.

Please cleanse your heart of such foolishness, so that you dont burn in hell.

And lets talk about judgement. I dont know much about Gov.Palin, and i want attack her, so instead I'll just say that she's a very pretty white woman, who I'm sure could do a better job running this country than that idiot George Bush. Now that and someone who voted with him 90% percent of the time is who i would say has poor judgement.

I like McCain, I think he's a really funny old white man, and Its great to have such a great american who was a POW running for president. My Grandpapa fought in the Vietnam War for this great country, and then came home to be treated like a 2nd class citizen by White America. But I know black folks should get over that. Its in the past, just like the Reverend Wright issue.

Poor Obama, the Palin pick is really making people think twice about HIS qualifications. It must be tough.

Now millions will watch Palin's speech and that's what Obama DOESN'T need right now. Particularly if she's good, which she always is.

Karma, baby, karma.

Wow, Rudy. Sarah has experience doing. Doing what? Placing 20 plus pone calls requesting the firing of her sister's ex-husband? Because she sure doesn't have much experience parenting.

are you really,

Reverend Wright soundbites? Oh really? I believe that little "spin" was rejected the day of the Natl Press Club speech when Rev. Wright embarrassed even Obama & the rest of America so that Obama had to throw his 20 year mentor under the bus.

Try to stay current. It's Sept 2008.

Keith,

That trooper she tried to get fired tasered his own family and threatened the life of Sarah Palin's father.

Nice guy, that trooper, eh? But so glad to see the Left on the side of law enforcement....FOR ONCE. Is this a trend? Lol.

Lol. You lose.

Listen to how the mainstream media REALLY thinks about Sarah Palin, back in 2007. They SING her praises.

However NOW when it's time to go against their hero Obama, they quickly change their tune.

Read it and weep Obamabots. LOL.
