Hey, Get Warren on the Line...

ABC News' Z. Byron Wolf reports: Its an odd scene up here in Washington on a Saturday night. Negotiators seem to have broken into working groups and legislators in their shirtsleeves are flitting to and fro between rooms off the rotunda and statuary hall.

Sen. Kent Conrad seemed to need a break and has taken some laps around the House side with reporters trailing him.

He said it is slow going and there has been progress (no specifics) and won't promise a deal tonight.

Senate Majority Leader Reid walked into Speaker Nancy Pelosi's office just before 10 a.m. and said, "The night does not end for a long time."

But it is not just the people on Capitol Hill providing input. Conrad said at one point negotiators had Warren Buffett, whose Berkshire Hathaway infused $5 billion into Goldman Sachs this past week, on speakerphone. Others have been called too, he said, but would not name them.

He said there have been some heated words and raised voices and times when negotiators had to run things by "teams of lawyers" and "that really slows things down.

Some things, he said, have gone smoothly and some have been "more vexing."

But when asked what issues remain, he mentioned back-and-forth on limiting executive compensation, oversight of the buyout program and taxpayer protections, and how to pay for the $700 billion pricetag (which seems like most of the issues and leads one to wonder if anything has been resolved at all).

In the meantime, McCain is firm asleep, dreaming about jet fighters.

How about the 20% kickback scheme for ACORN? Have the Dems taken that out yet?

People, Warren put 5 billion in because he knew about the bail out. The same way forgein banks came in and put billions of dollars in Fannie and Fredie right before the government took them over. Get it, it's a set up.

Wow. John McCain's campaign "suspension" and rush to "end the stalemate" did wonders...................
I wonder what else he can do to provide leadership? Look for the Iraq/Pakistan border?
Declare war on Spain? Plan to bomb-bomb-
bomb Iran?
Somebody bring Gramps back to the old folks' home. He's off his medication again.

And no one gives a crap where Obama is. Guess it shows who is serious here and who is just talking.

I didn't see Obama go back to Washington; he thought it was more important to oppose free speech in campaign stops.

Says it all. Right?

Ron, grow up. All I see and hear from you members of the Cult of Hope and Change is sophomoric crap that you pick up on Kos, Huff Post and DU. This is a serious situation. So go back to your little blog echo chamber and play while the adults work.

There have been many major news reports that the ACORN funding provision is still in the bill.

At least McCain is working at the job he is paid to do and not expecting everyone else to do his job for him. Your guy will just phone it, like everything else. Empty suit.

It's the Democrats that are to blame for this whole mess. They shouldn't be let within 100 miles of trying to fix it... throw the bums out!

As long as they keep ACORN in the bailout I hope they continue to deny it from going through.

McCain did his part, getting the House Republicans back into the game for this round. Beyond that, they're on their own.

Obama, meanwhile, has been delicately dancing around the issue, trying to avoid taking sides so that he can take credit whichever way it goes.

Clearly, McCain is the one who exercised some leadership, while Obama played politics.

Advantage: McCain!

Winnie, you may forget but McCain and Obama are Senators and we are facing the most dire of economic situations. McCain and his experience was requested back, Obama and his inexperience was given a pass. Considering there are only 100 Senators in the Congress all should be there burning the candles until this is cleared. up. It is Country first and Self Interest Second. If you didn't hear the news, Obama totally couldn't hold up his end in the meeting in DC. Chaos reigned. He was totally out of his league. Oh..McCain may feel in necessary to bomb an enemy if needed, for our national security (stones) B.O. wants to bomb an allied nation, Pakistan (idiocy).

McCain tried to stop this mess in 2005.Last thing Obama and Dodd wanted is an end to their Fannie and Freddie trough.

Fannie and Freddie gave tons of $$ to Obama. Do you think that is because they wanted regulation?
