McCain Camp: Let's Push Back Biden-Palin Match-Up, Too
September 24, 2008 7:04 PM
ABC News' Teddy Davis and Rigel Anderson Report:
The McCain campaign told ABC News on Wednesday that John McCain wants to postpone Friday's presidential debate until Thursday, Oct. 2.
The Arizona senator would like the vice presidential debate between Sarah Palin and Joe Biden, which is currently scheduled to take place on Thursday, Oct. 2 in St. Louis, Missouri, to be scheduled for a later unspecified date.
The details about what McCain is seeking, which were provided by a McCain aide who spoke on the condition of anonymity, came a few hours after the Republican presidential candidate announced that he was suspending campaigning so he could return to Washington, D.C., to try to forge a consensus on a financial bailout package.
McCain's public call for a debate delay was rebuffed by Barack Obama who joined fellow Democrats in arguing that a president needs to be able to multi-task.
"I believe that we should continue to have the debate," Obama said in Clearwater Florida. "It's my belief that this is exactly the time when the American people need to hear from the person who, in approximately 40 days, will be responsible for dealing with this mess."

Either they are idiots or think the American people are.
They are the laughing stock of the planet that Sarah Palin thinks is only 6000 years old.
This from Politico,com:
The McCain campaign's new urgency about the financial crisis didn't entirely clear his schedule this morning.
My colleague Amie Parnes reports that he made it to his scheduled morning meeting with Lady Lynn de Rothschild, a Clinton backer who recently came out in support of him.
All while Obama was waiting by the phone for a returned call.

McCain is scared to death to let Palin open her mouth. Why? He knows- and he doesn't want us to find out. She's clueless, that's why. We'll find out eventually. She can't do photo-ops forever. McCain should stop being sexist and cut her loose.

Mccain is known for his ability to forge bi-partisan work. Honestly, if the bail-out bill is not passed by the Senate, it could be a 1000 point drop in DOW on Monday. Only McCain can help the dems and repubs work together. It would be impossible for him to be immersed in the deliberation on senate floor and then debate Obama at the same time in Mississippi. Mccain is the real leader we need.

I was voting for McCain, but he is no maverick. What a stunt this all is.

Pardon me, but the "bail-out bill" consists of $700Billions of OUR MONEY, my friend. Do I deserve that my "leaders" tell me, in my face, why I am supposed to give them MY MONEY? YES I DO, my friend. Indeed, not only I deserve it, I DEMAND IT, my friend!!!

What is McCain using for brains?
McCain aspires to be the leader of our nation. I think one qualification for the job is to be able to respond quickly, when decisions need to be made and the American people need to be informed. A lot of voters haven't made up their minds, and Friday night is a good time for the candidates to make their positions clear.
By seeking to delay the debate, McCain is once again raising questions in the minds of many voters that he is not prepared to debate Obama and that he simply doesn't have the smarts and the character to do the job.

McCain is not ready to debate!
Palin is not ready to debate!
McCain/Palin should throw in the towel since they are already trying to squirrel their way out of talking to the American public!

There you’re done. (Shakes head) I thought he said economy was not his strength any way. Just us technology like video conferences, email…, oh I for got you are not technology inclined.

Who has put country first?
Obama called McCain this morning to invite him to issue a joint statement meant to put pressure on the government to come up with a better bailout plan for the country. Politically, this would be a stupid move for Obama --- he is now ahead in the polls and in public perceptions of economic leadership so he really didn't need to cast McCain as his equal on economic issues. But he put country first and give McCain a call. He waited hours before McCain got back and indicated his agreement. During the several hours he was waiting for McCain's response, he didn't go public with his joint statement suggestion. He was obviously sincere about putting politics aside and solving the grave financial crisis.
What did McCain do? He got extended a "country first" branch and, instead of taking it to show unity, sincerity and seriousness, he went public with an announcement unilaterally suspending his campaign and pushing for postponement of the debate, all in the name of national interests. With this gimmick, he showed once again all he cares about is political gains.
Shame on you, John McCain!
