Obama, McCain to Visit Ground Zero Together on 9/11
September 06, 2008 12:52 PM
ABC News' Sunlen Miller reports: Senator Obama and Senator McCain on 9/11 will make a stop together to Ground Zero in New York City to commemorate the day.
"All of us came together on 9/11 - not as Democrats or Republicans – but as Americans," said a joint statement issued by both Senator's campaigns, "In smoke-filled corridors and on the steps of the Capitol; at blood banks and at vigils - we were united as one American family. On Thursday, we will put aside politics and come together to renew that unity, to honor the memory of each and every American who died, and to grieve with the families and friends who lost loved ones."
Both campaigns have already said that they will pull negative ads off the air-waves for the day.
The Senators are both scheduled to appear later that evening at the "ServiceNation Presidential Candidate Forum" at Columbia University.
The joint appearances on 9/11 marks only the second time during the general election that the candidates have appeared together.

No negative ads! So we won't have to hear from the doddering old twit for a whole day? Thank god.

Now if they could only set aside the negative ads and run on the issues...

Classy move. See. We can work together when it really matters.

That's right, Biden will be silent.

Hope the bloggers will show the same respect.
We will see..........

Oh, wouldn't it be nice if the bloggers could also refrain from the negative, at least on that day. Except for the first comment here today by Lying Liars it seems that we are trying to be positive. We know it's not impossible to be nice and I truly saw that in drivers' attitudes in the days after 9/11, it was almost a pleasure to drive on the roadways.

I hope McCain is not going to pull a fast one. He is not a man of his word!

12,000 American flags were thrown in the trash by the obama campaign and the democrat party, at their conventions ending. Today in Colorado Springs Boy Scouts who rescued these flags will present them to John McCain.
This "Throw Away America" by Obama, the dailykos kiddies, and the rest of the democrat party is indictive of their plans for America.. The I hate America change they are bringing is disgusting, The Democrats have now shown they truly hate the Military and all this country and this flag Stands for. Now If Abc Censors delete this, then they too will concur with this message of hatred and disposing of our great flag adn what America stands for This Vietnam Veteran, is sickened by the democratic party and its disgusting disposal of the american flag

It's like Christmas in September - peace in America, the lion laying down with the lamb, Dems and Reps united as one people..."Why can't it be Christmas every day?"

I don't think you have to worry about him doing ANYTHING fast.

Country First: It sounds like you are full of hate. Lighten up! Obama didn't have any idea those flags were thrown away.

This is a nice, respectful idea of coming together. However, there is only one thing wrong with the statement put out by both camps, its states, "...to honor each and every American who died...". They forget that it was not only American citizens that lost their lives that day. My buddy's friend was British and lost his life as an innocent passenger aboard United Flight #175. Change that statement to read, "Citizens and non-citizens". Thanks.

I was about to salute both of them on this board until...
I saw the 12,000 miniature American flags LEFT BEHIND by Obama after his acceptance speech in Denver, CO. newsflash.
SHAME... SHAME ... SHAME...
Boy Scouts are the ones having to recover them with 84 trash bags. McCain have the decency to use them for his rally in CO.

Senator McCain is a sincere, caring candidate. Bet he made the first move and Senator Obama had to follow.
My hubby, a Viet Nam vet is thoroughly disgusted with the Obama campaign.
