Palin, Kissinger Split on Talks with Ahmadinejad
September 25, 2008 7:55 PM
ABC News' Teddy Davis, Arnab Datta, and Rigel Anderson Report: During an interview with CBS News' Katie Couric which aired Thursday evening, Sarah Palin called Barack Obama "beyond naïve" for wanting to talk "without preconditions" to rogue leaders.
"I think, with Ahmadinejad, personally, he is not one to negotiate with," said Palin, referring to Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. "You can't just sit down with him with no preconditions being met."
"Barack Obama is so off base in his proclamation that he would meet with some of these leaders around our world who would seek to destroy America and that, and without preconditions being met," she continued. "That's beyond naïve. And it's beyond bad judgment."
Asked if she considers former Republican Secretary of State Henry Kissinger to be "naïve" for supporting talks without preconditions, Palin said, "I've never heard Henry Kissinger say, 'Yeah, I'll meet with these leaders without preconditions being met.'"
Palin was overlooking that Kissinger (with whom she met earlier this week) has backed negotiating directly with Iran over its nuclear program and other bilateral issues -- a point which Couric reconfirmed at the closer of her interview.
"Incidentally," said Couric, "we confirmed Henry Kissinger's position following our interview, he told us he supports talks if not with Ahmadinejad, than with high-level Iranian officials without preconditions."
When contacted by ABC News about the split in position with Kissinger, the McCain-Palin campaign had no immediate comment.

Post Turtle
While suturing a cut on the hand of a 75-year old Texas rancher whose
hand was caught in a gate while working cattle, the doctor struck up a
conversation with the old man. Eventually the topic got around to Sarah
Palin and her bid to be a heartbeat away from being President .
The old rancher said, 'Well, ya know, Palin is a post turtle.'
Not being familiar with the term, the doctor asked him what a post
turtle was.
The old rancher said, 'When you're driving down a country road and you
come across a fence post with a turtle balanced on top, that's a 'post
turtle.'
The old rancher saw a puzzled look on the doctor's face, so he continued
to explain. 'You know she didn't get up there by herself, she doesn't
belong up there, she doesn't know what to do while she is up there, and
you just wonder what kind of dumb ass put her up there to begin with.

Just imagine what Kissinger was thinking when he saw Palin """discuss"""" foreign policy issues with Gibson and Couric.
LOL

Keep it up Katie. Is this the best you can do to get people to watch your show? Pretty pathetic. I would tell you you're almost as bad as Charlie Gipson, but that wouldn't be truthful. Unfortunately, you're not that smart. So here's the deal, the more you "pick on" Palin, the deeper you dig you're own grave. Do you really think Perky Katie will ever be able to come back after appearing as a spiteful, vindictive, ankle biter. So, keep it up, I know I'll never watch you again.

Palin calls Obama naive..... now thats hilarious.... like the pot calling the kettle black....
She is a joke and the more she talks the more unqualified she appears...
Palin is the unable..... she is the candidate to nowhere... now I wish she would just go there

what exactly did Katie do?
Posted by: GIGI | Sep 25, 2008 8:23:08 PM
Sarah Palin is far more credible than Kissinger. She can see Russia!
Seriously, how in the world does someone with absolutely NO KNOWLEDGE of anything become a VP candidate?
I hope people are listening to the rediculous and scary display of McCain's judgement.

Someone pleeeeeeeeeeeeeease make it stop!!! This woman is a joke--what was McCain smoking when he chose her as his running mate???? The interview with Couric was painful to watch--she is so not ready to be in the public eye! How does she run her state?? Oh yes, I forgot, her husband is the "shadow" governor!

What arrogance and disrepect - I don't think this woman "foreign policy expert" with her six year bachelor degree in journalism could carry Obama's briefcase. Who is she to so publicly diss a man who has accomplished much academically and in his career? It shows her insecurity - competent people can disagree intelligently on complex subjects without such disdain. She should just continue to shut up and be thought stupid than to continue to open her mouth and remove all doubt. Go home before you completely embarrass yourself, your state and your family.

Ha ha ha!
Barack Obama is so 'down to earth' that the little minds like Sarah's easily overlook the magnitude of the man.
Barack Obama is a Harvard Lawyer, a University professor, spent 11 years in State and National Legislatures, and has been given props by other experienced Senators on the Foreign Relations Committee; yet this little c-grade college grad, Sarah Falin, thinks such a HIGHLY INTELLIGENT & HIGHLY EDUCATED US Senator is 'naive'? lol
Sarah Falin hardly knows what foreign policy issues are and she is trying to be snotty. Then the McCaint campaign gets defensive when this 'green' Falin is called out for her lack of national and international aptitude and experience? lol
Childishly and foolishly holding a foreign opponents in disdain is exactly the kind of narrow-mindedness why bush-McCaint got humiliated by Russians over Georgia!

AMERICA TRUELY BETTER PRAY THAT SARAH PALIN, OR JOHN McCAIN DOESN'T WIN THIS ELECTION... OR WE ARE DOOMED ...

What is it with you Palin supporters? Any time this woman is asked a simple question, she makes a stupid answer. Then you complain she's being "picked on"?
The truth is she IS NOT PREPARED TO LEAD OUR NATION!
ANYONE. I mean anyone could do and say exactly what she is doing and saying. But this is not the "WHO WANTS TO BE VICE PRESIDENT" show.
Some of us want the BEST MINDS for our leadership - not some mediocre minded prom queen who can only read a sarcastic speech and a guy who keeps reciting life events from 40 years ago.
You folks probably think the Hannity infomercial was a "real" interview.
Posted by: Accept Reality | Sep 25, 2008 8:32:24 PM
From the latest NYT/CBS poll:
nearly 3 in 4 respondents call it a good idea for the president to meet with leaders of unfriendly countries.
Palin is out of touch with Americans.

HOW DOES SHE RUN HER STATE? Why by getting more pork money than any other state! hell... even Jessica Simpson would be a better VEEP...
Alaska #1! (state with money for pork projects)

The "confirmation" CBS got (which wasn't from Kissinger himself as they inplied) sounds like it confirms what Palin said about his position.
