Palin Says Obama Voting 'Present' on the Economy
September 21, 2008 6:25 PM
ABC's Imtiyaz Delawala Reporting: At a rally in Lady Lake, Fla., today Gov. Sarah Palin accused Sen. Barack Obama of not aggressively promoting a plan to address the current crisis on Wall Street and compared the situation to his many "present" votes in the Illinois state legislature.
"This week, when the economic crisis threatened the livelihoods of millions of Americans, John McCain took a clear stand and he offered his own recovery plan," Palin told an enthusiastic crowd of thousands. "Our opponent refused to even take a stand on the position.
"And that's a lot like his tenure in the Illinois state legislature where Barack Obama voted present about 130 times. This week he voted present on the major economic issues of the day, and that is not leadership, America. It's not leadership Americans can afford."
The speech took place at The Villages, a fast-growing, conservative retirement community about an hour north of Orlando featuring eight championship golf courses, where many residents travel by golf cart. The outdoor rally was Palin's first public event in Florida.
Palin was joined onstage by her husband, Todd; her daughters Willow and Piper; and her infant son, Trig. Palin told the audience at the beginning of her remarks that Todd had taken Willow and Piper to Disney World the day before. She then handed the microphone to 7-year-old Piper, who told the crowd, "Thank you for letting us be here."

Obama is voting present, but he's asking us to get out and vote for him. That's hypocrisy beyond thought.

You can't vote present in the US Senate. Can she say anything without lying?

Please check this out ... the most comprehensive page of information on Sarah Palin on the Internet ... including videos of her saying the Iraq war is a "task from God," stating her proposed $30 billion pipeline is the “will of God,” and that a month ago that she doesn’t know what the vice-president does. Also her recently praising the biggest pork barrel spender in Congress -
It has in-depth research, audio clips, videos, excerpts, and links to hundreds of articles, including many from newspapers and TV stations in Alaska. It has rare footage you won’t find anywhere else, including her telling the ‘08 convention of the Alaskan Independence Party, whose aim is to give Alaska a vote on seceding from the U.S., to “keep up the good work.” The level of research is unparalleled.
The site’s editors and volunteers include an Emmy-award winning CNN reporter, the former operating editor of the Monitor’s web site, the former head of NPRs News Blog and the Executive Director of the Online News Association -

Each news outlet ought to refuse coverage on Sarah Palin unti she answers questions.
John McCain took several different positions this week. It is a huge, important decision I dont expect a "smart" leader to come up with an appropriate, doable plan within 24 hours. Wait. Get all the facts involved. Discuss, then decide.
Sarah Palin is a joke.

Sarah Palin: Did you know she wanted rape victims to pay for their own rape kits? Funny and horrifying. Check out the animated cartoon:

Go Sarah !!
We need a leader like John McCain. Obama isn't offering change. With Obama all we are getting is a slick game player.

Why don't you go back to your tanning booth and leave us alone, Sarah?

young_voter: Oh please!!! Why would you take the word of someone who is dodging an investigation and the media? Palin is the one who has no credibility. Sounds more like of same. The only difference between Bush and Palin is lipstick.

Palin should take a lesson in how things work when he was in the state Senate. Voting present is very common and out of 4,000 votes not unreasonable.Since when did stating the actual truth get in the way of this woman has ever said. I see she's putting her kids out front again.

Obama needed a little time to determine all the larding up he'll and his Democrat Party will try and extract (extort) from the taxpayers in return for the quick action needed.

Is this all Palin can do, is manipulate the truth and join in the name-calling game? There's another name for a female dog with lipstick that she claims to be, and it sounds like she is IT!

Obama's approach is the one that makes sense. McCain has been flip-flopping on the regulation/deregulation so much he has injured himself.

Voting present 130 times out of 4000 votes in the Ill. senate is not a big deal. Especially, if you do not know his motive. Sure maybe some were to protect him politically, some were because he did not agree with something in a bill, but considering Sarah Palin's unsubstantial record in Politics and her shaky approach to governing there, I cannot be the slightest bit convinced by what she has to say. She is at best, a fool.

Sarah, honey, you're the one we can't afford! You don't have an honest bone in your body. What happens to our country if McCain croaks and you're (horror of horrors) suddenly in charge, with no experience on either national domestic policy or national security? Leave your gorgeous husband here and go back to Alaska! Spare us your lies and distortions.

"Obama is voting present, but he's asking us to get out and vote for him. That's hypocrisy beyond thought."........The truth of the matter is that Obama is not undermining or scuttling the work of the Feds by jumping out in front with some asinine suggestions, or erratic McCain type statements. He's doing the American thing by giving the President space. McCain on the other hand doesn't know when to keep his mouth shut-he's purely tempermental which is not a sign of the kind of stability we need in a President.

Sarah Flailin' blows smoke up your backsides again, and you morons love it.
The records show “present” votes were a tiny proportion of the more than 4,000 that Obama cast during his tenure in the chamber. Obama’s presidential campaign has depicted them as strategic in nature: Either Obama was working with Democratic leaders to thwart Republican legislation when the GOP controlled the Senate, registering opposition to proposals he thought were unconstitutional or ineffective; or he was providing political help to moderates who were under pressure to support some of the bills.
