Raining on Obama and Biden's Parade
September 27, 2008 8:48 PM
ABC’s Sunlen Miller, Matt Jaffe, and John Berman Report: The rain pouring down, his jacket off, his white dress-shirt clinging to his body, Barack Obama played to a crowd in a state that hasn’t elected a Democrat since 1964.
Obama and his running mate Delaware Sen. Joe Biden took the stage at the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Va., before a crowd of 10,000 to 20,000 people who had been waiting hours in the mud to see them. The weather in northern Virginia has been awful the last couple of days. And not long after Joe Biden’s introduction, just minutes after Obama started speaking, the rain started falling again.
"I know some of you got a little damp," Obama told the audience gathered in the school quad. "I’d like to cover everybody’s dry cleaning bill here tonight, but I can’t because I got to use it on the campaign, so consider it one more modest contribution to our efforts to change the country."
As the rain began to pour harder, Obama noticed his running mate’s stool close to the edge of the slippery stage.
"I'm gonna ask Joe to move that stool up because I don't want to have to choose another vice-president," Obama joked. "I don't want him slipping over, toppling over there."
Obama spoke for just under 30 minutes, and used the unruly weather as a metaphor nearing the end of his speech.
"Sometimes the skies look cloudy and it's dark. And you think the rains will never pass," Obama preached, "The young people understand that the clouds -– these too will pass, that a brighter day will come."
Astute students of history have noted, weather is not something politicians should take lightly. The presidency of William Henry Harrison, indeed Harrison's life lasted a mere month after after he caught a cold at his inauguration, which was held outside on a chilly Washington morning.

ABC puff piece. Do you wonder why it appears the major media are ga ga over Obama? It looks like "the thrill" is also running up the ABC leg!

Politoli: I am glad you said that because I believe McCain won the debate also. When the news media states that the polls show Obama edged McCain. No so. They are probably calling up Obama's supporter's and some of their friends. The media is pro-obama and will do anything to say he is ahead. They said Obama was ahead 52% to 43%. Not so. That was a bogus 9 point raised to make Obama look like he was winning the election. Later they brought it back down to 46% to 46%. The media is as underhanded and crooked as Obama and you cannot trust their polls.

Mariann, you say McCain will win the electoral vote?
He badly needs to change the current state of the race then.
Of the 78 Presidential Projection sites on the Internet (that focus on the electoral map), 69 currently predict a victory for Obama. Only 4 predict a victory for McCain. The rest predict a tie.
MY prediction is, that ALL of these 4 for McCain will be erased by Palin's performance next week in the VP debate.

McCain's Tactic: Deceive, Divert, Delude. McCain's reality: Befuddled, Bewildered, Behind

McSame absolutely put country last in picking "Queen of BS" Palin and pulling of the latest stunt on play politics with bailout.
Whoever thinks he still puts country first should have their head examined by a vet!
Posted by: sandy | Sep 27, 2008 9:31:08 PM
Apparently, the democraps didn't watch the debate. How in the world could anyone who did watch say that the empty suit NOBAMA won? How many times did he agree with McCain? 5 or 6 at least.
Here wehave democraps, this weekend, trying to GIVE AWAY 700 BILLION on this bailout and their boy, NOBAMA is still saying he'll eliminate taxes for everyone making under $250K. come on! any fool that believe that BS deserves to have NOBAMA as their Muslim savior. GOD HELP US ALL!

gregory: The country isn't that desperate that we need ObamaOsama for our president. The know nothing, do nothing and say nothing unless it is a speech copied from another president. Does he lack intelligence to run this country. You better believe it. He had to be schooled on foreign policy for three days in Florida by his advisors. McCain don't need training. He will need extensive training as president if elected. And this country will go into a disaster like it never had before. Worse than 1929.

sandy: I think your the one that needs to be examined. Whoever votes for a former anti-american, racist, white hating candidate needs to be put away and I don't mean in the hospital. And that also means you. I am surprised he didn't stutter last night. He must have been studying that foreign policy for hours and hours.

Curses, foul language don't win arguments. Reasoning and logic does.
Just shows the breed of followes barack Obama has.

About 160,000 readers from The Wall Street Journal voted on the outcome of the debate.
58% said Obama won the debate, aganst 38% for McCain.
That's a 20% advantage for Obama.
And don't tell me the WSJ is simply "liberal media".
Posted by: rover | Sep 27, 2008 9:37:13 PM
pollster: I don't think so. There are states that still will not vote for Obama and even on the internet it stated he might have a problem with race. I don't pay attention what the polls are saying about the electoral vote because they really don't know what state will vote for who. Only the voters know. And when you commenting about Palin, don't forget about big mouth Biden who got in trouble with Obama three times for his missteps.
Posted by: Mariann Pepitone | Sep 27, 2008 9:39:32 PM
rover, that WSJ poll....
you turned the outcome around; check again -
58% said that MCCAIN won!
LOL

Obama presidential? He kept referring to his opponent by his first name "John" constantly - yet no one in the media noted it. If McCain would've said something like, "Now Barack, you know that's not correct" - the media and bloggers would be up in arms about "lack of respect" - it was universally a tie - not sure what websites you've been looking at - the DNC's site? CBS News? MSNBC? Yes, those are bastions of impartiality aren't they?

"Truth: You said it. I am willing to bet there was not 10,000 to 20,000 people at his campaign, maybe 6,000."
Mariann Pepitone| Sep 27, 2008 9:20:45
How much do you want to bet?
You're wrong, as usual!
Jay Snipes, chief of the University of Mary Washington police force, estimates that 12,000 are at the rally and another 14,000 were unable to get in, according to an email he sent the Obama campaign.
Guess another network has it wrong, too.

I am a loyal democrat that will vote for McCain...bet you don't hear that too often, but it's happening across the land...for 4 reasons:
1. Obama has said that it's his judgement that is better than the other side...even better than Hillary's,yet he picked Joe Biden, who too voted for the resolution to go to war....why? to bolter a lacking foreign affairs portfolio.
2. Obama has voted 129 time "present" while in US State Senate...he was protecting making a decision for future use....not making a decision shows that he was more for himself than his state.
3. He has never once voted against his party lines. To think that the government will be run by Reid and Pelosi scares the crap out of me..
and 4. Who do you think that the government doesn't want to see in office....The people are terrified that John McCain will actually do what he says he will do and all the gravy trains will be broken.
I was a huge supporter of Clintons, and I also notice that the big Dems are rushing to help Obama....why?

Country first? More like what's in it for me first. Cut taxes, cut spending. Crumbling infrastructure. Everybody wants something for nothing. This country is in big trouble and most of the comments resort to name calling. I'm checking out of this blog.

Maybe because that is such a non-issue.. just like how McCain wouldn't look at Obama even when asked to.
Get over it.. vote on real issues..

Mariann, these projection sites have a per state approach, here's an example of one of these current projections:

rover: Are there a lot of blacks working there and are the majority democrats? I read a poll that gave McCain 76% to Obama's 60%. If you don't know about polls you should study more. All the networks are pro-obama and naturally they are going to say Obama won. They have been pro-obama since he started campaigning. Didn't they just lie when they said Obama was up 9 points only to find out it was a bogus raise and they are now 46 to 46% where they were in the beginning.
Posted by: Mariann Pepitone | Sep 27, 2008 9:44:59 PM
I laughed in the debate when Obama called John "tom" a couple of times. If he can't figure out that name, god help up on the foreign names
