Rice Offers Less-Than-Hearty Palin Endorsement
September 08, 2008 9:12 AM
ABC News' Jonathan Karl Reports: In a weekend interview, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice passed up an opportunity to defend Sarah Palin from allegations that she does not have the foreign policy experience to be vice president.
In a less-than-hearty endorsement, Rice declined to say anything more positive about Palin than "she gave a terrific speech" and "she's a governor of a state here in the United States" during her interview with Zain Verjee of CNN.
Asked point-blank if Palin has enough experience, Rice said, "These are decisions that Senator McCain has made. I have great confidence in him." Confidence in Palin? Rice didn't say.
Rice added: "I’m not going to get involved in this political campaign. As Secretary of State, I don’t do that. But I thought her speech was wonderful."
Comparing Vice President Cheney's foreign policy background Palin's, the interviewer asked Rice to respond to critics who say she "just won't be able to handle it."
Rice's response: " There are difference kinds of experience in life that help one to deal with matters of foreign policy."
More Rice: "You know, she’s governor of a state here in the United States."
Rice also said she'd be the "last" to advise Palin in a foreign policy debate against Democratic vice presidential nominee Joe Biden.
In contrast, Vice President Cheney readily defended Palin's qualifications. Talking to reporters in Rome on Monday, Cheney said, ""There's no reason why Sarah Palin can't be a successful vice president in a McCain administration."

During the RNC convention, they have sent Cheney to Georgia and kept WBush on the screen, running away from both their big men, but McPalin can run they cannot hide. No one needs a four years of broken republican policies. God save America from McPalin.

No great and experienced politician, not at home and certainly not abroad, takes Palin serious.
She's the cute puppet that can talk for the American masses who hate the World News and still cling to The Little House On The Prairie.

Does Palin have enough experience yet to even know what the VP does?

I bet come election day enough good ole Americans will have more confidence in Palin as VP than Obama as P.

Bottom line
all celebrity aside:
McCain Obama Biden
all have stances on issues domestic & foreign
Palin gave a good speech:
what are her stances on issues domestic & foreign?
tough talk should be able to handle tough interviews (I have a feeling all feel good, softball interviews are coming). this may hurt my candidate

Rice's silence on Palin's foreign policy expertise speaks volumes!

Rice silence speaks volumes---Palin offers nothing to this country --she is shallow and detached and any American citizen with a brain in their head has got to know that putting the country in this womwan hands is damn scary!!! McCain showed by picking her that he cares more about winning the election than the American peoples welfare. He accused Obama of that when in fact he has done this. SHAME ON YOU MCCAIN--YOU SELFISH COWARD. YOUR POW EXPERIENCE DOESNT IMPRESS US---THERE ARE ALOT OF OTHER POWS OUT THERE WHO HAD IT WORSE THAN YOU AND YOU DONT HEAR THEM CRYING ABOUT IT LIKE YOU DO EVERYTIME YOU GET A CHANCE.WHAT A OLD FOOL YOU ARE !!!!

Why do the Democrats expect Sarah Palin to have foreign affairs experience when their own presidential candidate doesn't have any?

So is Oprah! Rice and Oprah sing a duet from the Hollies: "He ain't heavy, he my brother..." Very soon, Steve and Michael will be joined in.

Hey Obama supporters, Rasmussen just came out, Mccain 48, Obama 47. So the elections is not lost and that means Obama is polling strongly again but he has to start attacking. No defence. I like his speech in Terre Haute and he should keep up with it. Mccain is up with an Ad trying to define their ticket, Obama has to come up with a counter Ad.

Way to go Rice ,I agree with you 100 % she has NO CLUE as to what is going on...At least Obama picked some one who has a well rounded know how of what is going on and how to fix it....

palin is a female rumsfeld without any foriegn policy experience. If you look at her record anyone who disagreed with her got fired. Thats exactly what has been happening in the bush admin for the past 8 years. dont vote for the hockeymom and the fossil.

Anyone with more than one brain cell between their ears knows what a seriouly rediclus choise Palin was for VP. Yes she is nice looking and has a quick wit, but no major experience to handle the job McCain might drop dead and leave in her unqualified hands. To that degree Ms Rice is very correct. It speaks volumes about John McCain's lack of good judgement.

The Palin selection is the most hypocritical thing McCain could have done. While saying he wants to unite the US, he deliberately chooses to reignite the cultural wars by choosing the most divisive candidate possible as a way of keeping voters' eyes away from any and all issues.
McCain would rather divide America than lose an election. Some patriot.

Confused in Miami - Obama has superior intelligence, Palin has lipstick and a couple of good attack soundbites.
Posted by: outtahere | Sep 8, 2008 9:59:27 AM
How can anyone even say Palin gave a good speech? It was filled with lies and distortions. I think the best you can say is that "she delivered a good speech".
We're all just being manipulated by the McCain campaign's unethical tactics.

Gallop poll today: 50/46 Mccain vs OB. It's getting better every day. Thanks to Sarah Palin. The Freudian slip of "my Muslim faith" from OB could be another nail in the coffin. That remains to be seen.
