Stephanopoulos: Obama Campaign Raised $66 Million in August
September 14, 2008 8:25 AM
ABC News' George Stephanopoulos reports: Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama raised more than $66 million in August, marking a record fundraising month for his campaign.
The campaign also added 500,000 new donors during the month.
Previously, the campaign's best fundraising month was February of this year, in the midst of the heated primary with Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., when they tallied $55 million in donations.
The McCain campaign reported earlier this month that it raised $47 million during August.

My wife and I are both in the military. She is serving her 26th year and Im on my 29th. One year to go for me. We have always voted fot the Republican ticket in the past even though we are Independent. After keeping up with this campaine and researching everything we could, we will be supporting Obama. McCain served his country with honor, but that in itself doesnt mean he will be a good President. What really sent us over the edge was the pick of Palin. The thought that she could be our Commander in Chief one day is scarey. Both Kennedy and Reagan were great at deplomacy and the Berlin Wall came down and we prevented a war with the Soviets during the Cuban missle crisis due to having brains in the White House that believed in deplomacy first. At one point Kennedy's four Generals and Chief of Staff were pressuring Kennedy to attack. Kennedy didnt fall to the pressure and used is brains and deplomacy to possibly stop a war and it worked. Does anyone acually believe, if McCain and Palin had been in office that they would have gone against their Generals and used deplomacy. I think not. If something were to happen to McCain, Palin would be in charge of the most powerful military in the world. I know about the Alaska National Guard but I also know she as never given them one single command. My Wife and I are sure in our beliefs that if McCain and Palin are elected, at the least, we would just continue with Bush policies or even worse. Obama believes not only in deplomacy first, before conflict, and has the brains to make it work. He will keep our military strong and country safe and will help fix the the worlds view of us. Remember the days when the international community respected and looked up to us. Please support the troops and God Bless America.

Obama won the presidency last week in August but in Septemebr he lost to Palin because he becomes so mad about his fallout, he named Palin, a pig.

The more amazing number is half a million new donors. If you donate, then that means you are pretty energized. If you are energized, you will try to bring others along with you. If you bring others along with you, then these polls CANNOT be accurate. There is no "likely voter" model that can be accurate. IT'S GOING TO BE A BLOWOUT!!!

The primaries and general election have gone on far too long. The cost has become disgusting. This is one change that needs to be made.
It always was difficult for a relatively unknown to run now it has become impossible.
We need limits both in time and money with all loop holes filled.

All of America demands Obama release the IP addresses of all the donated internet money. And how much of that really came from big money donors. If you believe the crock that most of itcame from small donors you need to be whipped and flogged.

Wow so he is going to donate this money to the american middle class?

CW - While I disagree with your opinion, I respect your decision to vote for Obama. I also appreciate the fact that you didn't spew negative garbage and inflammatory statements. We need a lot more civility around here. People should be able to have differing opinions.
I've posted before that on November 5th, there will only be one winner, and I hope that EVERYONE will get behind him and give whoever wins a chance.

You repubs can try to smear, LIE and paint Barack as muslim and un-American all you want to. OBVIOUSLY it is not working.
66 MILLION and 500,000 NEW donors ?!?!?!
McSame doesn't stand a chance.

I regret that McCain's choice of Sarah Palin compelled me to be one of the 500,000 new contributors to the Obama campaign. Then more I read and learn about Sarah Palin the more I am convinced that she is power crazed individual that will stop at nothing to get what she wants and needs. McCain will be just one more mentor that she will turn on and turn in when she sees an opportunity for gain. The Palin mafia is not what this country needs.

If You were The Boss... which team would you hire?
With America facing historic debt, multiple war fronts,
stumbling health care, a weakened dollar, all-time high
prison population, skyrocketing Federal spending, mortgage
crises, bank foreclosures, etc. etc., this is an unusually
critical election year.
Let's look at the educational background of the
candidates and see what they bring to the job:
Obama:
Occidental College - Two years.
Columbia University - B.A. political science with a
specialization in international relations.
Harvard - Juris Doctor (J.D.) Magna *** Laude
Biden:
University of Delaware - B.A. in history and B.A. in
political science.
Syracuse University College of Law - Juris Doctor (J.D.)
vs.
McCain:
United States Naval Academy - Class rank 894 out of 899
(meaning that, like George Bush, McCain was at the bottom of
his class)
Palin: Hawaii Pacific University - 1 semester
North Idaho College - 2 semesters - general study
University of Idaho - 2 semesters - journalism
Matanuska-Susitna College - 1 semester
University of Idaho - 3 semesters - B.A. in journalism
Now, which team are you going to hire to lead the most
influential nation in the world?

Me and my family are in complete agreement with CW. Two sons in Iraq, both Army active duty, my wife an Army Civilian and I'm a 25 year vet. CW summed it up precisely as is our mindset as well.

I'd rather have a respectful president with manners, than a president that can e-mail.

....here's what has stuck in my mind as to why Obama gets my vote as of now:
- The swarm of homogenous fresh faced GOP convention floor elite yelling "zero, zero, zero" when "community organizer" was mentioned in several hate speeches... Not the America I want to see my children and grandkids participating in.
- John McCain rides the coattails of his life inspiring story in a POW camp only to spiral into dishonest campaigning thus taking away the honor for me of that sacrifice. He said he would run an honest campaign yet I think he has surrendered his integrety to Rovian bile. By leaning on the miliatary part of his story he is now soiling the definition of an "honarable military man".
- the economic issues are important but the lawyering up circle jerk in Alaska to stop the politically charged trooper gate reminds me too much of what I've watched on TV for the last eight years coming from Bush/Cheney.
- the Maverick we used to vote for here in AZ ain't the same man he used to be. Age is an issue.
- Palin...I actually enjoy her attempt at Tina Fey impressions. Time to start framing the McCain/Palin brand for what it is...Politicians (McCain) reaching his destination via the gutter instead of a journey with character. This is not change.
- The fiscal conservatives, which I typically gravitate towards, have been overtaken by sincere religious Americans with leaders who are hypocrites in how they choose or not choose to voice support from one day to the next based on wedge issues.
- My uncle has taken care of his wife day and night continuously since her early 50's without the benefit of outside medical centers. She is bed ridden, unable to share the joys of their family's life stories and close to a vegeatative state. My uncle stuck with his wedding vows still after 15 years of this life and never complains, brings her Communion each Sunday and demonstrates what I see as honor and committment. The bar is high....

When Obama was holding huge rallies, McJealous accused him of being a celebrity. Now with Sarah Palin in tow, McCain is trying to hold huge rallies and steal Obama's message of change!
What a pathetic looser!

Only $66 mil!!! Not enough to CHANGE voters' decision.
Posted by: alex | Sep 14, 2008 9:00:11 AM
My vote can't be bought... and I vote for REPRESENTAION. If women voters always yield to men, they will never be qualified for leadership of America. England, Germany, India, Pakistan, all have had women leaders. Here is your chance. Don't get swayed by the "BS" campaign stuff.
