The Note: Palin Charged With Reviving McCain Ticket
September 29, 2008 8:25 AM
ABC News' Rick Klein reports in Monday's Note:
Now that (we presume) the economy will be saved and the republic will endure and our money is as safe as the politicians who crafted this bailout package (read: not very), a few questions to take us into a week that will surely be more predictable than the last one:
How many presidents do you need to save a bailout bill?
How many winners were there in Friday's debate?
How many more ready-made opportunities do the candidates have to shift the terms of the race? (How many times has the Obama campaign done anything as bold as the McCain campaign does about every other week?)
How much impact will "Saturday Night Live" have if politics subsumes the jokes?
Read the rest of The Note -- and get all the latest on the 2008 election, Congress, the White House and the wide world of politics every day -- from Rick Klein by bookmarking this link.
How many times will Bill Clinton say, "Barack Obama is the best man for the job"?
How many more times can Gov. Sarah Palin unleash words instead of answers without seeing her image cemented by the national media? (How much does Steve Schmidt care about that question?)
(Is the answer to all the above questions, "zero"?)
This is why you pick a vice president (plus the Tina Fey impersonations, we suppose). Palin will be critical to Sen. John McCain's success this week -- the flubs and fumbles under close scrutiny, the episodes where she seems to contradict McCain while talking circles around herself under an unforgiving glare.
The pressure would rest on the McCain ticket's shoulders anyway, given the shuttle (and shifting) diplomacy of last week that didn't quite work out. Add to that a first debate that cements the status quo, a running mate who seems to be getting worse the more (still limited) time she’s out there, and a very big week gets bigger for Sarah Palin.

Dear Gov. Rendell,
Since I have read that you are now a member of Barack Obama’s truth squad, I am hoping that you will spread that sentiment both ways. I would like you to talk about Obama’s trip to Iraq and his conversation with Hoshyar Zebari which I and many other Americans is a violation of the Logan Act. I would also like you to bring to light his 500 thousand plus contributions from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. I would like you to tell your constituents about the Phillip Berg lawsuit which alleges Obama unqualified to run for President based on his dual citizenship. I would like you to relay the truth behind Obama’s questionable associations with convicted domestic terrorist William Ayers. Maybe show some of Reverand Wright’s sermons at your next press conference? Or perhaps bring up some facts from Dr. Lynette Long’s research into the Obama camp’s caucus fraud in Texas. Speaking of caucus fraud, how about Obama’s involvement with ACORN?
I am counting on you, Governor Rendell to do your truth squad duty!

I hope she does well to shut everybody up.It amazes me that all the mistakes Biden makes he gets a pass from the media. CNN ran a story about her not even being elected when the Bridge to nowhere were put in play. They also reported how biden/obama voted against taking the money from the bridge to nowhere and fixing a bridge damaged during Katrina Good for you CNN of course we will see if you continue to run it or will it fade as most truths about Obama

Yes, Biden and his "35+ years of experience" that everyone thinks is such a big deal.
Palin is a novice in national politics and of course is going to make mistakes.
What's the excuse fro Biden when he has all the experience? He doesn't even know U.S. History.
I'll be Palin knows FDR wasn't President in 1929. Problem is, no one ever asks her those questions.........

More than bail out we need "persons of truth" in the White House. After hearing the debate, I can't imagine Oboma saying anything that was actually the truth. I can't imagine him saying anything of substance, or that dosent include "I" "I" "I" for most of what he says.
By the way, When you are in Alaska and hear those jets overhead. That roar is more than likely on its way to the border to let the Russians know that we are there. Therefore, Sarah Palin as governor of a "First Defense State" would have more foreign experience, if for no other reason, because two other Countries border her state. Maybe she is not at liberty to disclose too much information about what goes on around those borders. Think about it, Oboma has not had that experience.
Thanks Sarah Palin for your Honesty.

*************************************
If it was a question of boldness, then zero would be good for McCain, but being it is absurdness that we are talking about zero is good for Obama.
McCain is fighting this campaign like we have fought the Iraq war, no planing involved, no clear direction for winning, and not sure what the goal is.
So far his attempt at shock and awe, has been all shock, but no awe.

New Debate Rules Allow For One 15-Second Strangulation
September 25, 2008
SCOTTSDALE, AZ—In an act designed to completely reassure voters about his health, presidential candidate John McCain checked himself into the Mayo Clinic yesterday, where he successfully completed another unbearably bloody, invasive, and most foul operation. "Sen. McCain's enterocutaneous fistula was treated swiftly and without incident, " said Dr. Michael Yardley, standing before the press covered in the 72-year-old's blood and fecal matter. "After we breached the abdominal wall to take numerous tissue samples from his small intestine, it was clear the senator was in perfect health for his age. A few more simple blood and mucus tests too horrifying to discuss here and the senator will be fit as a fiddle." Next month, doctors at the Cleveland Clinic will manually disimpact stool from McCain's fetid rectum in what is expected to be a painless procedure for the spry and virile Arizona senator.

How many more times can Gov. Sarah Palin unleash words instead of answers without seeing her image cemented by the national media?
DIDN'T you see the debate, Obama must have answered half of his questions with wordage rather than facts or details. GET OVER YOURSELF MEDIA FOOL! Remember when this is done you will have no credibility then, as you have none now!

jjs,
Nice stretch. Even if the Russians attacked through Alaska, the majority of the military stationed in Alaska is currently under Federal control, not state control. Palin would only have control over the National Guard, which in the case of an attack, would immediately fall under Federal control. The only control she has over the National Guard is in the case of disaster or another crisis like civil unrest, not attack by international force.

All your comments and yet the wars drag on. If another country invaded America and occupied it and my wife and kids were killed I would have nothing. I don't care how long it would take, I would strap bombs to my chest and visit the country responsible. That is the Bush legacy and all McCain can do is underscore it and put an exclamation mark after it. And he’d do it with stupid pride. Bush and McCain paint a bulls-eye on an American city like Seattle or Boston or Miami and it stays there for at least fifty years. Go ahead and vote for John McCain if you live in the same fool's paradise as him and George Bush. In fact, because everyone is allowed to vote, some people vote who are idiots.

If I have my way I will ask Oboma to withdraw from the race because. I do not want an innocent man like him that has the interest of peace and growth of his country America to be blamed for the collapse of America empire. From my own point of view I think America has reached it climax just like other big empires before America. With regards to the debate between Oboma and McCain I realy can understand that majority of Americans love and glorify war so much instead of diplomacy and peace otherwise I do not understand why McCain can still have the affront to vie for the oval office and some American people in their right senses came out in mass to support him, knowing fully well that he is a war monger and he contributed a lot to the American present economic situation. I do not understand if America recognized that they have lost control and respect of world since eight years ago. I wonder why they did not notice that China and France are seriously fighting for the leadership position America carelessly dropped. China has taken over Africa and Middle East while France is in control of Europe through their new charismatic leader. Presently China and Russia are fighting for the control of South America. The world is changing so fast that military power or war no longer determine your might but your efficiency in diplomacy, economy and vibrant leadership. Years ago USSR was carried away by it's military might and later collapsed. Thanks to God that Putin came to save them from completely vanishing from the world map. During those years of Putin he did not fight any war but concentrated on economy and diplomacy that is reason Russia is again a country to be counted on as a world power. China for years avoided war but resorted to making friends with countries and creating markets, that is the reason they have a lot of market to supply their goods and products. In Africa I can hardly see any American product. But let me warn America there are two traps which I pray you do not plunge into, the traps are Iran and Russia. This may lead to the total collapse of your empire if you resort to war instead of diplomacy as solution to resolve the crazy act of these two countries. Most Europe countries are no longer happy with your incessant wars which has brought economic problems to them and bad relationship with the middle east and many other continents. Take example from your NATO member Spain that withdrew their troops from Iraq. You may not agree with my view but you will realize what I mean when you start up another war.
Spain example is a warning. NATO OR NO NATO be informed that Europe are no longer ready for any other war. Peace with your enemy is the only way to avoid this calamity. Read the hand writing on the wall, you are being circled by enemies you created out of carelessness. South America, Canada, Cuba are all against you. Do not pretend you do not know that Canada is nursing a bad feeling against you. With peace and diplomacy I am sure you will get Osama bin laden and also defeat terrorism, but with aggression you may find it impossible. I do not think that the Arabs like Osama and his gang of murderers but what I think is that they do not like the way America is going about it. Quote me, any day America chose the way of diplomacy I am sure the Arab world will provide Osama and his gang to America to face justice because they know where he is hiding. Iran nuke will came to end, North Korea will also stop their nuke adventures. Chaves rhetoric will come a stop, the world will love America once again. Listen to your former secretaries even though Mr. Kissinger cowardly denied what he said when he was pressed by Christina Amampur to clarify his stand on diplomacy and direct taik with your enemies, he mumbled his last word but we all heard him. America should not because of pride and ego get into what they cannot handle. McCain is too dangerous to rule America for now. He will bring more problems to you. From the statements ot the people of Europe and their leaders with respect to Oboma tour in Europe you can understand that they do not like McCain, Middle East do not like him, your neighbours in American continent do not like him, Asia do not like him even Africa does not like him. America should chose a president the world would accept so that your diplomacy and relationship in the world you are leading would agree. I know America has right to elect who ever they want as president but should elect the person that will be accepted to the world you are leading so that your foreign policies will be accepted by other nations. If you elect McCain honestly you may be isolated by other countries who do not love war but peace.

You are sexist. That's one of the main reasons McCain chose Palin - because they know that negative attacks on a nice looking mother just rubs people the wrong way.
jjs:
Do you really think the federal goverment would let the governer of Alaska handle international diplomacy with Russia just because she's close to the border? Please.
It isn't fair to the American people that the Republican Party is allowed to keep someone running for such an important position in this country away from any unscripted questioning for so long. The voters deserve to hear from a person who could be running our country if McCain dies. Her choice as a running mate was a gimmick to get votes, and that's not the way a democracy should be run.

TW,
Both sides had prepared 2 minute statements and possible rebutal statements for the debate. It was their ability to adjust to what the other person said that was important. In this aspect, I think Obama did a little better. It seemed like McCain had certain phrases he was to use and he used it whether it fit or not.

Obama supporters love to talk about whether Gov. Palin is ready to be president (even though she's running for VP). The real questions is whether a community organizer from Chicago with close ties to a convicted felon, an unrepentant 60s bomber and the corrupt Chicago political machine is ready to be president. I think not. Another Democrat for McCain / Palin.

Posted by: DEBBIE HONERS | Sep 29, 2008 9:23:54 AM
James,
Why would he say McCain was not right in instances where he was? Two candidates can have some common ground on some topics, but if you notice beyond the statement that John got something right, Obama expanded on what McCain said. It was not a cop out to get out of answering. Also, the majority of those statements were around the economy, which was an area where the two sides did not have many differences as to what was needed for resolution.
Posted by: Mack | Sep 29, 2008 9:25:07 AM
Did I just hear right?? I just heard on CNN that a McCain campaign surrogate was making remarks regarding the Conservatives calling for Palin to step down because of her unpreparedness and demonstrated shortcomings in her recent interviews.
The defense was that -"Only the intelligent conservatives are calling for her to step aside." That most other conservatives are not.
Did they just basically say, only unintelligent conservatives are supporting Palin?

Posted by: GIGI - FREE SARAH | Sep 29, 2008 9:27:32 AM
Graniteman,
Maybe it is because Democrats know how to look beyond the short term. Palin is VP on the ticket of the oldest running President in history. And to add to the concern, he is a twice over cancer survivor, 6 years into the typical 8 year recurrance of the cancer. So, who is running as VP on the ticket is as important as who is running for President because the chances the VP will become President is high.
Posted by: Mack | Sep 29, 2008 9:27:40 AM
Republicans should learn never to throw boomerangs from glass house. The Democrats suffer from maladies, but the hypocracy and double-speak of the Republicans this cycle is intolerable. I used to identify favorably with the Republican Party and John McCain. But his general campaign has ruined my faith in both institutions. I guess John McCain will keep running for President, but I wish he wouldn't.
HP in Boston. Saying Obama violated the Logan Act is like accusing McCain of having an illigitimate child in South Carolina. Even if you could substantiate your comment, John McCain's own statements during the course of the campaign would be enough to draw him up on the charges that you wish to level against Obama. Alternatively, why not look into McCain's associations with organizaed crime and draw up some RICO charges? Or let's go old school and talk about the Keating Five.
Posted by: AL in TX | Sep 29, 2008 9:29:41 AM
One thing I haven't seen mentioned by anyone but that bothered the heck out of me from the debate was that McCain never looked at Obama. To me that smacks of a lack of courage or at least graciousness which I would have expected McCain to have an abundance of given his age and experience.
Obama bothered me with raising his hand so much to get a question in: trying too hard to be a nice guy?
Posted by: richard | Sep 29, 2008 9:29:45 AM
Ken,
There have been 3 or 4 Conservatives that have asked Palin to step down. One, a woman, was in support of Palin when she was first selected, but wrote an editorial after the Couric interview for her to step aside. They are concerned that the more she is allowed to talk, the more people will realize she is not ready for the major leagues of National Governmnent. If that happens, they are afraid the ticket will lose the independents and borderline Republicans.

You can boldly go to war and put our kids lives at stake for lies too right. Electing Mc Same is ludicrous and to put Palin anywhere near a decision to put our kids in harms way even more so. Barack is not too nice he is however very intelligent as opposed to mc Grumpy. Senator Obama is a reasoned individual displaying a great temperament for being President of the United States. Senator Mc Same is going to have to replace his knee if he keeps jerking it this much. On Monday our fundamentals are strong then lets drop everything and run to Washington so we can distract America from the issues. Mc Grumpy does not want the focus on I am now down nine(9) points in the polls and my campaign manager Rick Davis has been taking $15,000 a month from Freddie Mac. Look the other way and don’t ask my running mate any questions while she is in the cocoon we are keeping her in. Senator Obama has on his economic team Warren Buffet, Robert Reich, Paul Volcker all great advisers. Obama can also walk and chew gum at the same time which Mr. Lets delay on the debate until some day when America is not focused on the economic crisis my Republican cronies created. Run to George W. Mc Same and then tell us how you are not exactly the same as him. You were against the AIG bailout and then for it, you blamed Obama for it all and now want to work with him. Take your meds you are getting frenetic and tough to keep up with what you believe. Your ruses wont pull any more wool over the American electorate. To recap Senator Obama is the by far better choice for our economy and our country and its standing in the world. OBAMANOS! SI SE PUEDE! YES WE CAN AND WILL WIN IN November! OMG Palin is a moron. I cannot believe that she seriously thinks that because Alaska is close to Russia, that gives her foreign policy experience and millions of suckas out there are gullible enough to fall for that one.
Yes, she is the female version of "W".
Her answers are pathetic as her views.
Well Cuba is even closer to Fla, does that give Gov Crist even more foreign policy experience? What a laugh....

Palin did revive the McCain ticket-but...the novelty of an unknown, mother and woman can only be stretched out for so long. Look all this is all cute but.
we are almost in a depression-This is serious stuff we are dealing with. Bantering each other with silly words doesn't change the balance of deficit. I might add the McCain voted for Cox and helped in degregulation. He was warned of the problems and didn't do anything. Now he wants to fire Cox? So does the republican? Too too late-the damage is already done. You need to keep Cox in there to clean up the mess he created and to be accountable. Thos who made a large profit of money should be fined 35 to 40 % on penalties. They knew exactly what they were doing. Socialism is what we are blaming on Obama. Lets see family are losing homes, due to not having insurance there is about 30 % of people dying because they can't get treatment, savings is not possible because every penny is going to put food on our table, heating, gas for the car and paying the mortgage. Our Captialism hasn't been working for the last 8 years. Prove to me it has-give me facts. Look at statistics about the loss to Americans in the areas I mention. I just cried when a family lost their loved one because their insurance was capped and had to take him off the ventilator. It was my daughters teacher's husband. give me a break!!!!

The problem with Palin's answers to Courics's questions is this:
Half of America thinks Palin DID do a good job. Half of America is so dumb that, because they didn't understand a word Palin said, they think she DID say something coherent.
This half of America NEVER understands what ANY politicians are saying because they have a first-grade mentality and simply cannot truly comphrehend anything past that level.
SO, Sarah can string a bunch of big words together in an incoherent stream of blather, and half of America thinks she is smart and polished and will vote for her. They are simply too dumb to know how dumb they are.
Posted by: mavisdarling | Sep 29, 2008 9:41:45 AM
Let's get real. Of course, Biden has made ridiculous remarks. I cringe when he gets ready to speak. But there's a qualitative difference. It's one thing to get your history screwed up: it's another to say you have foreign policy experience because you can see Russia from an outlier island. Have you actually listened to some of those remarks???
Posted by: richard | Sep 29, 2008 9:44:31 AM
As they say in some games, for Palin to revive McCain's campaign is a "big ask".
I think he will just be praying she does not show him up completely.
Obama will be praying that Joe Biden has a gaffe-free hour or so.
I really don't expect anything to be settled. There is much more at stake for the Republicans. But even if Palin is an out-and-out winner, it will hardly affect the race. Verdict: a week lost by the McCain camp to prepare Palin for a debate that will have little meaning other than to vindicate or damn John McCain's political judgment.

That's why I'm all in favor of Obama starting a new strategy with his campaign.

Sarah Palin may not be the most experienced candidate running for VP, but at least she's second on the ticket under McCain. Senator Obama hasn't shown that he knows even half what Senator McCain does in order to run the country, not to mention the fact that he's only served less than two years in the senate, most of that running a presidential campaign. Dems, say what you want, you always do, even though mean spirited (see above comments GiGi and Al) I still feel McCain/Palin has more experience and I will be voting for them come November.

McCain keeps saying "country first" that it's not about him... it's about the country...so then why would he choose Palin as a VP..He's gotta know that he's at an age that he can get sick and die. And then Palin would be in charge..Anyone with a brain can se that McCain is full of crap when he says "country first" and then panders to the female vote by picking Palin. There had to be a more qualified choice in the republican party than this bimbo.
McCains choice of Palin is so transparent.. It's very scary that this woman, who by the way proved that she has misused her power (read about the state trooper she fired) has her finger near the big red button...it's scary that she had the mind set to try and ban books from the library...
But lucky for us ...she keeps an eye on Russia. What a BIMBO! I hope you all are smart enough to see how dangerous having Palin near the whitehouse will be....She can't even talk in a coherent way on a TV interview...can you imagine if she had to speak to other world leaders..She's a fluke ...a wanna be...a poser....Tina Fey would be a better choice for VP !

Think about this. We have lawyers who were trained in ivy league universities running our country. And where are we? Our country is in trouble politically and economically and we have all the well trained, educated men and women in our country ruining our country.
So here comes someone from the grass roots in Alaska. Taking on a very powerful political machine, winning a very tough opponent and we now look down upon that so we can have more intellectuals running this country?
Why???
Posted by: nobama | Sep 29, 2008 9:48:30 AM
Did I just hear right?? I just heard on CNN that a McCain campaign surrogate was making remarks regarding the Conservatives calling for Palin to step down because of her unpreparedness and demonstrated shortcomings in her recent interviews.
The defense was that -"Only the intelligent conservatives are calling for her to step aside." That most other conservatives are not.
=========================
I heard that on Fox this morning. Please don't laugh, I watch Fox just to see how they spin Palinism. I guess most conservatives are just easily manipulated lemmings according to the McCain campaign staff.
All morning they have basically tried to lower the bar for Palin. "The debate is not fair because it is 60% international relations". "Biden is an expert debater." etc....
The expectations for Palin are so low, if she doesn't fall off the podium, it will be considered a success.
This is the BEST the GOP has to offer.
Posted by: Yep, that's what they said | Sep 29, 2008 9:48:47 AM
For some unknown reason, the bridge to no where, will be blown up. Palin will miss the debate because she will have to rush back to Alaska to take charge of re-routing the global commerce that has been shut down, due to the loss of the bridge (to no where). She will issue a statement, "blaming Russia". Tina Fey will take her place in the Thursday nite debate.

John Mccain v/s the Media.
I agree With Jefferson in his line of reasoning it is better to have even a vile, nauseous media rather than have no free media.
I guess right now Media is desperate to control the minds of the people but they have been sidestepped by technology. So in this WAR OF WORDS its technology that will triump and truth prevail.

Let me see now....having applied all of the reasoning put forth as to why Sarah Palin should withdraw and applying it equally to the other candidates....hmmmmm....it appears that it is time to ask Mr. Obama to withdraw from the race as well because he is in a virtual dead heat with Palin on the "experience" factors. Mr. McCain...please get your staff to trust your pick and let Sarah Palin be Sarah Palin. She has a source of wisdom and strength that has been suppressed by political gameplaying. Let her be who she is. No one person is going to change what our nation will now face but I'd rather have someone who is standing on principle than rhetoric.

Lets face it McCain has made a joke of his campaign.
One stunt after another.
Putting Palin on his ticket. Lets face it everybody knows she is out of her league. I am sure she is a great alaskan governer but she is no diplomat or VP.
McCain insults you at every stop, I can't believe people can't see it. I was a Conservative but the way the party has gone is horrible Bush can't string a sentance together and McCain does stunt after stunt. Please enough already!!
Obama may not be as experienced but to be honest he is showing he has much better temparance and coolness. Look at how he has ran his campaign. Look at what he brings for the american brand.
Plus he has ideas and thinks!! Something our politicians have had problems doing. Does anybody realize how badly the states is now percieved worldwide with the current idiot running the whitehouse. Then McCain expects you to pick him when he does stunt after stunt and puts palin on the ticket. Please watch the katie Couric interview it is embarrasing and painful. If you don't see that you are fooling yourself.

Dear Gov. Rendell,
Since I have read that you are now a member of Barack Obama’s truth squad, I am hoping that you will spread that sentiment both ways.

Ken,
That is too funny! Can you remember who the surrogate was? Hilarious!
I used to think a McCain presidency wouldn't be too bad, but after watching his impulsive actions over the last month I'm scared as heck!

It was the simple minded people like you that the Palin pick was aiming at. It's too bad we need the votes of at least some of the lesser intellectually inclined to win. Go take a look at each states average IQ, then see what party they voted for. As the IQ average goes up they vote democrat and the opposite is also true. What’s extra funny is the swing states all have an average IQ level of 99; this seems to be the tipping point of intelligence.

To partially quote "My Friend" John McCain:
What Sarah Palin's defenders don't understand is that Barack Obama and Joe Biden HAVE been put through the wringer by the media many, many times.
However, they balance that by BEING AVAILABLE for interviews and questions. All that Palin has given the media are flubbed interviews. Without any good interviews to counterbalance this, then we are left to conclude that she really is a dingbat.
Hannity doesn't count- it is obvious that he fed her the questions ahead of time.

Palin will win the debate. She will parrot talking points when the right topics come up.
Memorable key words will spill out all over the TV.
Even if the topic of teaching pseudo-science like dinosaurs walking with men, like in the faith-based diorama in Kentucky, does come up, expect her to win over even more fundamentalists. After all, Palin is working with faith-based material, not logic that appeals to everyone. She doesnt have to appeal to everyone, just to the base. RIght now 3/4 of fundamentalists intend to vote for Palin-McCain. If she can make that 4/5ths, then maybe Palin-McCain wins in November.

A community organizer is OK.
An over zealous and crooked organizer is repulsive.
With the huge budget, the Axelrod machine stole all primary caucuses. They had the money to pay office and campaign staff, and ads.
The Obama network is beyond the regular campaign, it is everywhere and almost unstoppable, with a dire outlook.
Corruption and poor national defense will be the Obama legacy.
Palin and McCain are straight characters, and innocent Americans. Let us vote for them.
PS I was a Democrat, and still hate the conservative social myths.

I love how Republican women pretend they're Hillary voters who are switching sides because Palin is being "beat up" by liberals. It's the media beating up on Palin, including many conservative Republicans who are now calling for Palin to step down FOR THE GOOD OF THE COUNTRY. If Palin can't take any scruntiny without crying about it or her supporters crying about it, she should't be on the ticket. Women can't argue that we should be treated as equals and then cry when we have to walk with the big dogs and take our licks like any other candidate.
You have to be extremely partisan to say Obama has been given a pass by the media. Rev. Wright was discussed nearly 24/7 on the news (all negative for Obama) for at least 6 weeks straight. On top of that the media dragged in Father Pfleger, Tony Rezko, and now some have even tried to tie Kwame Kilpatrick to Obama. So, what free pass are you talking about with Obama and the media?
It's not a free pass. You're just pissed that Americans have heard these stories and it didn't give HRC and now it isn't giving McCain an advantage. That's the only way many of you would see the media as doing its job--if they take down Obama ON BEHALF OF MCCAIN BECAUSE MCCAIN CAN'T DO IT HIMSELF!!! The problem is that every American has heard the scandals/peolple I've already mentioned and Obama is still up in the polls.
People...THERE ARE NO MORE VOTES OUT THERE ON REV. WRIGHT, ETC. Find something new---How about a real issue?
And, again, Palin needs to take the scrutiny. We still no nothing about her and she could end up as President, if McCain's elected and becomes incapcitated or dies. Get over it. She needs way more scrutiny. If she can't take it, she should go back to Alaska. Obama and his wife have been taking major hits for more than 20 months! Get over yourselves.

Frankly, I wish that people who voted G. W. Bush twice would lose their voting rights or at the very least be subject to a small fine to help pay for the Wall Street bailout and the Iraq war. I admit to voting for him once, in 2000, but at least I learned my lesson and refused to vote for him again in 2004. I feel guilty enough for my first vote, but there appear to be a lot of people willing to risk the security of the nation -- both domestically and internationally -- by voting Republican once again. It boggles my mind.

I thought I would provide a link to back up my statement.
http://www.mindfully.org/Reform/2004/US-Election-IQ2004.htm
However you can get average IQ by state from many other sources that will verify this.
Posted by: Creamsykle | Sep 29, 2008 10:06:12 AM
Thoren's point is a good one.
Obama is winning big among college educated voters and Palin/McCain has the same big lead among voters who never attended college.
Remember, the average IQ is 100. That means 10's of millions of registered voters have IQ's in the 80's and 90's. They will not follow complex issues.
Palin's D in macro-economics is appealing to those people, her constitutents in Alaska, which has the lowest percentage of college grads in the USA.

Sarah Palin simply does NOT have the mental capabilities for the job. PERIOD. She is clueless. Nothing she does will prepare her because she just flat-out isn't SMART enough.
Anybody who thinks otherwise is either just as stupid as SHE is, or you are deluding yourself because you are a racist pig.
She has proven that she has NO capacity for critical thinking. I mean come ON, folks. She still honestly thinks that since Alaska is next to Russia that it gives her foreign policy experience. How do you explain THAT nonsense?
Palin was elected by a bunch of YAY-HOO Alaskans. The majority of the Alaskan population is MEN. She won a beauty contest disquised as an election and now you think she has "experience". Her popularity in Alaska is declining fast, I might add.
Obama is brilliant. He is SMART, he definitely has the mental capabilities to be president. The only problem I see is his color. So many of your arguments, that he isn't experienced enough, or that he is stupid, or WHATEVER, are simply remarks made by STUPID RACISTS. It's so transparent.
That is the ONLY reason Obama isn't running away with this thing. A pretty pathetic testament to what kind of people live in this country, I might add. To racists, anybody of color is by definition stupid. That is SOOOOOO pathetic.
Obama can run intellectual circles around 99% of this country. FACT.
I'm sorry if this isn't a "politically correct" comment. Sadly, it's the TRUTH.

I am just frustrated with the spins after spins by "stuck and single minded" republicans of Palin's interview. Everybody makes mistakes and may not know everything. But to put new "buzz words" she learned from the masters randomly in a a sentence is not mistakes. It's just plain stupidity and lack of inderstanding the meaning of the words in context.
Posted by: Deb | Sep 29, 2008 10:11:24 AM
Holly cow batman...what a joke.
American has become such a vacuous state devoid of any shred of intellectual and moral leadership. I'll give the nod to Obama as the lesser of 2 evils, but if this is the best either party can muster, whew...we're in trouble.
For a capitalist country to be teetering on the brink of financial collapse, it appears a very real possibility that America will go down in history as a relatively short lived experiment. A country built on the premise of freedom and equality ultimately undone by it's own avarice and a lust for moral superiority.
Parlez-vous Canadian?

My wife and I are both well educated and we find it vexing that you cannot see through the haze!

Just think about it. It is not the Americalns are reading or listing to Plain's interview and some of the spiners view of Palin. It's the whole world is watching. We still have not learned from the mistakes made from BUSH. It's a very bad image for a country like USA that they can't even pick a VP who can ONLY read when someone writes for her (as she did in the convention), but is unable to construct a good sentence with substance. It's a shame.
