This McCain's best type of venue. he comes across in such circumstances as controlled, caring, and intelligent. It will go over well, (unless Obama, once again, has *plants* in the audience shouting disruptive stuff).

So, let's talk the issues:

1. McCain's pick of an inexperienced, uninformed running-mate after promising the American people that he would choose a running mate who - at a minimum - was already prepared to take over on day 1.

2. McCain's many flip-flops
- pro-abortion/now staunchly anti-abortion
- against drilling/now pro-drilling
- for immigration reform bill (pro-amnesty)/now opposed to the same bill (a bill he helped to write).
- let's hear from him what he intends to cut from the federal budget in order to balance that budget. Even Alan Greenspan, a friend of McCain's, has said that McCain's plan to lower taxes (without making matching, deep-cuts in the budget) will bankrupt this country.

- Of the remaining federal programs that McCain says he will not cut: HOW does he intend to pay for them if he is lowering taxes across the board?

- why did he support the invasion of Iraq? On what grounds. Not what are is thoughts on the surge, but why did he think we needed to go to invade Iraq in the first place, and as a follow up, why does he think Iraq collapsed into chaos so soon after Bush and Sen. John McCain declared "Mission Accomplished"

- Does he think the invasion of Iraq strengthened Iran?

Yes, audiences are a tricky part of the townhall meeting format. The idea is to get questions from "regular folks." But it is generally not "regular folks" who attend town meetings, rallies, or debates. The people most motivated to attend are the ones who are most partisan and want to influence the race in some way. That works well when a single candidate has a town meeting with supporters, but if both candidates attend a televised town meeting, it is likely to become something of a zoo.

It is TRAGIC that the dems hang the election of Obama .. to how well they can make Gov. Palin look bad. Yesterdays polls, particularly showing latest trends, do not look good for Obama.

John McCain repeatedly asked for joint town hall meetings across the land with Obama. Obama did not agree, instead preferring to address adoring fans in huge rallies where he can simply read his rhetoric from a teleprompter, with even foreign crowds that cannot even vote !

Hillary? You're joking right? That Bosnia story alone sank her ship along with her total mismanagement of her campaign. Get real! Obama put her away and he'll do the same to McCain. As for your polls...they don't contact people with cell phones. How many people out there have those? Also, the polling is done only with people who voted in the last election. The Obama campaign has registered 2 million new voters who have not been called. These are the facts!

I have to agree that Obama should have agreed to McCain's offer for joint town hall meetings all across America.

I think he didn't because it's "not his preferred venue" shall we say. But it makes him out of touch with real voters.

The speech in Germany and the Greek columns were a real turn-off to me. The email ad was downright insulting.

In contrast, both John McCain and Sarah Palin seems very rah-rah America to me (in a good way).

I support Obama and I want him to have a townhall meeting forum with McCain. I wonder why he hasn't done that yet.

I wonder if this will be a McCain-style "town hall"? You know, where they only let in McCain operatives and weed out minorities to the extent they even eject black reporters.

Not only Obama is scared of town hall meetings, he a scared of Mike Wallace. Obama is the one we need to find out the details and have questions asked of him seeing he is the one wanting us to trust him for a vote. Obama has to come away from his safe spot and prove he can act under pressure when faced with unrehearsed questions and a neutral venue, not like his alma mater. We have not seen how he handles himself in an unfriendly environment.

3)Against earmarks is not a true statement the truth is Alaska is the largest state per capita for the use of earmarks (LA Times 09/03/08, Washington Post 09/11/08)
4) Posable abuse of power (Troppergate) Used her position as governor to fire her ex brother in law due to bitter devorce with her sister. (CNN 09/11/08, NBC 09/03/08, Anchorage Daily News 09/05/08)
5) Wasting taxpayers money. Charges perdium for working out of home as governor for 312 nights along with travel for her family for a total of $43,490 for the year

Palin may say the media is out to get her but the truth is she doesn't tell the truth. She says she is a reformer reformer of what she uses the system better than anyone

A McCain rally in Fairfax Virginia drew a crowd that McCains campaign estimated at 23,000 people. Other participants at the event estimated the crowd size to be 8,000.

You need to get real and lose your shallow naive view of political races. Voters concerned about their future don't really give a rat's behind about the Bosnia gaffe, any more than you do about 57 states.

Clinton won the moderate votes, all the swings, every big state and the popular vote. Her electoral map was at 327 the day she suspended. She polled in the 50's against McCain in July/August - Obama has never even broken 50%! Get out of your insular bubble, a clever primary campaign that games red state caucuses and uses the media to steal the nomination DOES NOT WIN THAT CANDIDATE THE GENERAL. The selection of Obama by the party leadership was beyond stupid and they all know it now. They'll be held accountable by the voters for creating this mess.
