Todd Palin's DUI

Share

September 01, 2008 3:41 PM

ABC News’s Bret Hovell reports: Alaska Governor Sarah Palin’s husband was arrested more than 20 years ago for driving under the influence of alcohol, the McCain-Palin campaign confirmed today.

Todd Pali was 22 years old at the time and was not yet not married to the presumptive Republican vice presidential nominee, but was dating her. He  was pulled over by authorities in a small Alaskan town but not involved in any accident, and no one was hurt in the incident. He was briefly taken to jail following his arrest.

The campaign confirmed news of Palin’s arrest on the same day it announced that the Palin’s daughter, Bristol, is pregnant. Bristol is 17 and unmarried.

Boy, can we say Obama Hussein op research? we know ABC couldn't dig it up by themelves. they couldn't fight themselves out of a paper bag.

In stories about VP Palin, we see the word “conservative” as an adjective to describe Palin. Although, she may well be a conservative,
I just wanted to point out, for what it's worth, that I can't recall ever seeing the adjective "liberal" before either Biden or Obama's name.
Why is that? The Wall Street Journal just reported the results of a National Journal study of the US Senate voting records. The conclusion was that Obama is most liberal senator in the Senate and Biden is #3. http://online.wsj.com/article/SB121962256899067705.html?mod=opinion_main_commentaries

I suspect it’s because most of the mainstream press are themselves “liberal”, yet like to think of themselves as moderate and hence think Obama and Biden as “moderates”. But as the objective survey by the National Journal indicates, Obama is the most liberal senator and Biden is just behind in the #3 spot.

Here’s a story about how the major TV networks use the words “liberal” or “conservative” as applied to the presidential tickets. http://newsbusters.org/blogs/brent-baker/2008/08/29/cbs-nbc-label-palin-conservative-didnt-tag-biden-liberal

So what? That's REALLY scraping the bottom of the barrel for click-throughs.

Posted by: SoWhat | Sep 1, 2008 3:47:35 PM

Let's see, the husband of the VP got a DUI 22 years ago.

But the presidential candidate was frying his brain on cocaine 22 years ago.

This is a toughie.

This is a nonissue. 20 years ago and a spouse of the VP nominee. Obama admitted to using drugs when he was younger. Shame on the Democrats for digging this up. Get a grip

When Biden was picked for VP, you never saw the word "liberal" being assigned to his name even though he's the 3rd most liberal senator.

However all day after the Palin pick, the word "conservative" or "staunch conservative" was attatched to her name.

And you wonder why the media has worse rapproval ratings than the ambulance chasers.

It happened 20 years ago. Hopefully Palin has changed, and I assumed he has.

This has to fall under the so-what? category.

Todd Palin is not on the ballot in November.

However, Obama is.

If ABC News is concerned about a candidate's past substance abuse problem, it should focus on Obama's admitted past illegal abuse of cocaine.

I don't care if in 1982 her husband was arrested for racing down the main drag of Wasila, AK on a ski-doo, wearing nothin but a ruby encrusted thong and screaming "There's no place like home".

It doesn't have any bearing on whether or not she can do the job. Personally, I don't thinks she does, or has the right political ideas - So can we stop it with all the Soapopery going around on the networks?

There's a couple hurricanes out thar y'know.

Who gives a crap. I've done some things when I was 22 that I wouldnt do now. They are really getting desperate for a scandal!

Posted by: Get a real job | Sep 1, 2008 3:53:18 PM

Wonderful. The mud-slinging contest has begun. Too bad that this is the best they can come up with. Her husband before she got married, 20 year ago when he was 22?. Get real here. Is that the best you can do to attack Palin?

Or her daughter pregnancy and her own earlier: It just tells me that she is not a hypocrite like Al Gore who preaches one thing but behaves differently if it inconvenient for himself to turn off that light in his house or not fly around in that gulfstream gasguzzler.

Likely it will make her better understand people choosing differently and since she is for small government influence in private decisions, likely she will not obstruct that. Just look at her first act as governer: she veto something that would harm gay couples.

Tells me that she knows the difference between private decisions and public policy. And that she is no Al Gore or Michelle Obama who gets $310.000 for an administrative job at an "non-profit" hospital while still saying that medical costs are so high.

If this woman had any common decency, she would remove herself from the ticket for the good of the party.

Posted by: NubTail | Sep 1, 2008 3:57:26 PM

THIS JUST KEEPS GETTING BETTER AND BETTER!!

I can hardly wait to see what comes out next on this poor little beauty queen VP wannabe....

Bridge to Nowhere LIE!

Raised Sales Tax in Alaska!

Back corrupt Senator Stevens!

Teen Daughter Pregnant!

Ethics probe for getting her brother-in-law fired! This one so smacks of trailer trash it isn't funny...

And the list goes on!!!

Forget about Gustov, that was a joke, only a CAT 1 and missed for the most part New Orleans... The BIG STORM brewing for the Republicans is their candidates choice of Palin as VP!!!

The biggest disaster for the Republicans in the last 50 years!!!

Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha!!!!!

McCain needs new vetters!

Bye, bye Mr. McCain!!!

Nub, She has money pouring into McCain's (and hers) campaign now. Why on earth would any woman with common decency remove herself from the ticket when PEOPLE WHO ARE GOING TO VOTE REPUBLICAN are so happy?

If he smoked crack cocaine at that age it would of been ok. Signed Obama

Must be nice to have the liberal mainstream media on your side.

Example? It took 3 days for ABC to uncover something that happened to the HUSBAND of the VP pick that happened 22 years ago.

However it took a YEAR for ABC to report on Obama's radical leftwing, hate-spewing pastor of 22 years. And that was only after Sean Hannity got started on it.

Amazing. And yet Obama will still lose. There is a God in heaven after all, Mr. Moore.

hot stut,

LOL.

Posted by: Jo | Sep 1, 2008 4:07:24 PM

ABC news should be finding more to report on than this NON STORY! Please, your desperation is showing....really, ENOUGH ALREADY....at 22 we all did stupid things and THEY WEREN'T MARRIED. What was Bill Clinton doing AND THEY WERE MARRIED, AND IN THE FRIGGIN WHITE HOUSE.

This is not news. The media is in a frenzy to find a smoking gun on this lady, not because she's a republican, or a woman, but because she is not known, was not vetted properly, and most importantly she could become the next president if and when McCain croaks. For a man who picked up the argument the Candidates should not be on OJT it is proof the Republican party's only goal is power not the people's or the nations safety, security and progress.

Because of McCain's stupid ploy to attract Hillary voters with a PTA president, mayor of 6,000, 18 month Gov of a far away state with a population equal to that of Ft. Worth, TX primarily sitting on ice and so geographically different than the other 49, no foreign experience, no national experience, no knowledge of the constitution, no idea what the VP does... the citizens joined the media in an immediate hunt for anything that could, in the future, jeopardize the VP and Presidential SEAT. Listen to all her recorded discussions and she sounds like a tour guide. That won't go well in the MIDDLE EAST and RUSSIA.

The Who's Your Real Momma drama was not started by the democrats. They were picked up from multiple local written gossip articles on the woman which includes unethical firings for personal and political reasons and rightfully should be investigated. Yes there is a 2nd charge at this moment. That alone is a warning to what someone having the power and authority as VP might do in the name of Moral Majority Leadership.

In addition the Republicans need to stop using her baby in photo opts as if telling the public, "Look we keep our DS babies" Well let me tell you something, there are hundreds of thousands of women who are Democrats, Atheists, Agnostics or none of the above who not only keep their DS babies but those who are born deformed. To imply that keeping a downs syndrome baby is a REPUBLICAN ONLY DECISION is nothing more the BS.

This lady needs to prove to the world is is fit to take a seat at the White House and any call or excuse to give her a pass for the debates is not only insulting to hard working educated women across American, but completely opposite of what the Republican administration is trying to promote in the MIDDLE EAST.... Equal Rights for Women.

Let the debates begin.

Yeah, bring this up ABC...it just reminds us of the "blow" using Obama who is running for President.....still can't kick his smoking habit either.
