Women Launch 'Hockey Moms for McCain-Palin' Web Site

ABC News' Jennifer Parker reports: Two self described "hockey moms" launched a web site Tuesday called "Hockey Moms for McCain-Palin" to mobilize women in key battleground states to support the  Republican ticket.

Kellie Boyle, 46, of McLean, Virginia and her longtime friend Adrienne Cordova of Philadelphia, Pa., are the co-founders of http://www.hockeymomsformccain-palin.com/ -- a web site targeting women in  Pennsylvania, Michigan, Virginia and Ohio -- key battleground states.

"Hockey moms are the new soccer moms," Boyle told ABCNews.com, "we're just moms who are excited about ticket who wanted to do something to support Sarah Palin to show that there is alot of support among middle-class , main street, suburban moms out there."

Boyle pointed to recent polls that suggest that women have swung their support from Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama to Republican John McCain since Palin joined the GOP ticket.

The latest ABC News/Washington Post poll found a 20-point shift among white women from Obama to  McCain. The latest Newsweek poll puts McCain over Obama among white women by 16 percentage points.

Boyle said the website isn't affiliated with the McCain campaign and she isn't being paid for her work.

"This is pure grass roots, this has nothing to do with the campaign," she said.

The "Hockey Moms for McCain-Palin" web site sells bumper stickers and "hockey moms for McCain-Palin" signs through CafePress, urges Republican supporters to request an absentee ballot to vote early, and solicits donations for the American Special Hockey Association, a group that helps children with physical and developmental disabilities play hockey.

"Hard work. Dedication. Sacrifice. These are just three things that John McCain has in common with the hockey moms of America. And Sarah Palin shares our early-rising, butt-freezing, glass-pounding commitment to our children and communities too!" reads the web site.

Boyle said she's mobilizing the mothers she knows at hockey rinks in Virginia and Cordova is targeting moms in Pennsylvania.

"She's getting mothers at all the hockey rinks in Pennsylvania getting ready to have bumper stickers and signs," Boyle said of Cordova, "and I've got relatives in Michigan that are doing the same thing."

Boyle, who said she used to work in Virginia Republican Sen. John Warner's press office in Washington, DC in the 1980s, is a longtime volunteer for Republican Rep. Frank Wolf of Virginia, who is up for re-election in November. Boyle is currently a part-time public relations and marketing consulting for Arlington-based LM&O Advertising, where her husband works.

Boyle attended the McCain-Palin rally last week in Fairfax Virginia where an estimated 23,000 people showed up. She said her son gave Palin a Washington Capitals jersey.

"She saw me in my Capitals jersey and gave me a thumbs up and said 'hockey mom!'" Boyle said of Palin.

"When she was announced she just struck a chord with so many women who not only find similarities with her but also really look up to her for being so successful at what she's doing being able to balance family and work and politics," Boyle said.

"She's just someone whom we identify with and admire," she said.

linda n carolina: Linda, why don't you learn how to play hockey then you can get in with the crowd of McCain supporters instead of that loser Obama who went behind the scenes as usual to play dirty pool with the general of Iraq. But that's nothing new with him, he also played dirty pool to the woman running against him for the senate and he went behind the scenes with Nancy Pelosi to convince the superdelegates that Hillary couldn't win for the democrats. Good for the website I hope McCain get the majority of women to vote for him.

== now she won't respond to the probe (troopergate) like she said she would...==

Obami supporters dominate the legislative commission doing the "investigation." She doesn't have to cooperate with those trying to get her. Plus, it's a separation of powers issue.

indp voter: The economy is not the cause of Bush. Wake up. Its is the cause of the mortgage companies giving loans to people buying homes or condo's that have no money down or 5% down then not being able to pay the loan later causing a foreclosure and the mortgage company and banks in the red. Bush cannot control that. People are the cause of the idiotic mistakes trying to live like the rich with a pauper's purse. You never buy what you cannot afford. The banks and mortgage companies should not have given the loans to people with no money down or only 5% down. The same with the auto dealers. This country is in a mess because of wrong decisions made. Obama and Biden are wrong about the economy. And the stockmarket took a plunge and that's normal. Stocks go up and down. Its been like that for years. I lost money buying United stock but who cares. Life goes on and I am not going to worry about the loss.

Obama is the biggest phony lying candidate that ever ran for office of this country. He is a wheeler dealer underhanded crook who learned the tricks of the trade from Rezko and Ayers. And the majority of the people in this country need to wake up before its too late. If you think this country is in a mess now wait and see the disaster if Obama is elected. He talks about the economy. He doesn't know the first thing about politics or foreign policy. He is learning from his advisors what to say and what not to say. For a Harvard graduate he should be smarter than what he is.

rose - i understand, you would rather kill innocent beautiful human babies and then then trash their bodies in the dumpster, but that's your choice, not their's . by the way, hunting is legal just like abortion! the difference is that the wild game killed is also skinned and prepared for by both the father and mother for food for their family without waste, now that is value's and also a GOD given right, not killing babies. i only believe in abortion to the point that the baby is already deceased in the
womb with no human interference, not because the women is physically having complications and may die giving birth even though the baby will survive and she dies. a women who would rather die giving birth so her child will survive is already fit be a mother. now you bring up the comment that Gov. Palin should have been there for her daughter
when she wanted to take her relationship to another level with her boyfriend, is that not a personal
issue between the two, and the last i checked, they may be young and unmarried, but they are of legal age which is why you are not hearing about charge's being pressed on any body or family, and i thought you liberal's were about freedom of choice and privacy, where is their's. leave those two young adult's alone and stop showing hatred and judgemental hypocrisy.

Great. If this is how we pick our national leaders then all hope is lost. The international monetary system is in collapse and these morons open a site about supporting McCain-Palin because she's a hockey mom. Good Grief!

Mrs. Phoenix: You are so right about Michelle Obama. At one time she belonged to a racist organization and never liked America. Obama was a racist at an early age hating his mother's race. I read his BIO in the NYT month's ago and it is very interesting. Obama is crooked and underhanded. His book Audacity Of Hope was not in his own words. It was the speech of his pastor Wright who was preaching the audacity of hope in his sermon. Obama took the speech and made a book out of it making several million. He uses people for his own benefit like the speeches of RFK. That's where Obama got the words hope and change. Those words were in the speech of RFK when he was campaigning. He can't do anything for himself. Let's hope he doesn't win this election or god will have to help America.

Rose C: I don't understand your personal attack. If you're asking if I ever slepped with a black man and raised my children on welfare? NO. NO.

But I do have a beautiful 1/3 biracial grandchild, an adopted black grandbaby, a 1/2 Mexican-1/2 Irish adopted twin grand daughters and 3 Chinese adopted nieces. None raised on welfare and proud to be American.

What's your beef?

Since when does giving birth to kids who play hockey a qualification for the highest office in the land? And for those who think that comment is sexist, it works both ways. Begetting kids who play hockey isn't a qualification, either. If Sarah Palin were a man, she'd never be on the ticket.

Thinking:

I thought the personal limit on campaign donations was $2,300?

How did you get away with donating so much?

No wonder Obama can raise $66 million in one month.

Maybe someone should launch an investigation and determine how something so illegal is being accomplished under the guise of legitimacy??

This website is a real republican dirty laundery mahinery. John Sidney McCain is the biggest LIAR of this century a very dishonnest candidate who even Karl Rove has characterized as going too far in his lies. MLKjr was not a republican and has never been one. Being black doesnot qualify anybody to be president, but your IQ and Obama has a very high IQ a graduate from Harvard with As while McCain as among the last four of his classroom who was accepted in the army because of his father and grand father: Nepotism it is called. ALASKA LOVES SARAH for the great work she has done reforming government to work for the citizens, and AMERICA IS FALLING IN LOVE WITH SARAH for her genuine sincerity, honesty and brilliant mind.

It is time to recognize that women can do a great job, many times better than men and Sarah Palin's record shows she is exceptional.

The Obama campaign and the liberal media is in disarray, confused and foaming at the mouth after the Maverick, John McCain chose Sarah Palin, a woman reformer for VP. Their response has been a vicious attack on Sarah ranging from insults to smearing and the sexist tactics that brought Hillary's campaign crashing down.

Obama fractured and divided the democratic party when he rejected the choice of 18 million democrats and instead of choosing Hillary for VP, he chose an old Washington politician Joe Biden, and by this grave mistake in choice, negated the flag of "change" Obama had been waiving and replaced it with the "more of the same" one.

On the other side, The Maverick stole the mantra of change from Barack when he selected a woman reformer for VP, who has gained the respect of the State she governs as well as of the nation governors.

The McCain/Palin ticket has also given hope to all the 18 million former Hillary supporters who now have a very compelling reason to vote for the republican ticket, as a way to put their country first by electing a president that has the qualifications, experience and love for our country and at the same time elect a woman to the White House as equal partners in governance and leadership of our country.

Country First!
DEMOCRATS FOR McCain/Palin!
