Biden Appears on Ellen, Says He'd Vote Against CA Amendment Banning Same-Sex Marriage

ABC News' Matt Jaffe Reports: Joe Biden didn't bust a move with Ellen DeGeneres at a Thursday taping of her show, but he did take to the couch hitting Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin for not signing on to more debates and saying he'd vote against the California ballot measure that would ban same-sex marriage.

Ap_biden_ellen_081017_mainAs Biden entered to David Bowie's "Changes", DeGeneres quipped, welcoming the Democratic vice presidential candidate the same way his Republican counterpart did at the onset of their October 2 debate: "Can I call you Joe?"

"Yeah, as long as you wink at me," Biden replied.

Biden followed actor Colin Farrell during the "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" taping set to air Monday and needled the talk show host on the line up.

"Let's talk about how I come out after Colin Farrell," continued Biden. "I'm playing the old guy role anyway, you know, this whole campaign and now I gotta come behind him! Jeez!"

The candidate at the top of the Democratic ticket, Sen. Barack Obama, is 47 -- 18 years junior to the six-term Delaware senator; Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, the Republican vice presidential candidate, is 44.

"We appreciate both of you for lots of reasons," DeGeneres noted of her two guests.

"I'd like to be appreciated for his reasons, you know what I mean?" Biden said to audience laughter, before quickly adding: "Only kidding, I'm joking."

Biden's conversation with Ellen included much of his rhetoric from the stump. As he has done repeatedly in recent weeks, he reiterated his disappointment with the campaign tactics of his Senate colleague Sen. John McCain, calling recent robo-calls "over the top" and "out of character".

Biden also hit out at Plain for turning down an offer for a second vice presidential debate.

"Gov. Palin said she'd like to debate me more," Biden said. "Coincidentally, we'd been asked by a national police group if we'd each appear in a debate and I agreed to do that and she decided not to do that."

Biden also told DeGeneres, who recently married actress Portia de Rossi, that he opposed Proposition 8, an amendment on California's November ballot which would amend the state constitution to define marriage as solely between one man and one woman.

"If I lived in California, I'd clearly vote against Prop 8," Biden said.

Biden's appearance ended with an on-stage dunk-tank to raise money for breast cancer research with actress Julia Louis Dreyfus in the hot seat. Biden stood armed with a basket of pink ammunition to try and hit the bulls eye, warning that his Secret Service agents were standing at the ready to help him should his aim fail.

And they nearly had to step in. It took Biden until the last ball  -- and a suggestion by DeGeneres to "pretend it's Sarah Palin" before he hit the bulls eye and sent Seinfeld's Elaine Benis splashing into the tank.

I will say it and I will continue to say it. Joe Biden is an idiot. Now it would be a toss up as to which one is the bigger idiot. Say whatever you want to say about me - get it straight -Joe Biden is an idiot.

Obama's "spread the wealth" Socialist statement and Biden's "I'm a Catholic but kill that baby" show just how sick and deranged the party of death has become.

So Pitbull Sarah is too chicken to do another debate with Joe huh? Kinda goes along with her lack of REAL media interviews that she won't do either. Like Roland Martin on CNN said, She wants to talk to the American people, but she doesn't want THEM to talk back. Katie Couric and Larry King are scary. First time in HISTORY someone has been scared of those two EVER.

SARAH = COWARD
SARAH = CRONY WHO ABUSED HER POWER

No wonder her campaign shields her from the news so she won't be "depressed".

Janice, bub-bye!

Biden supports CIVIL unions along with providing equal benefits to gay partners. Biden has clearly stated he believes legal marriage is between a man and a woman. He's consistent with his statements and beliefs.

Take the wax and mucous out of your eyes and ears!!!!!!!

Ellen show Joe Six-term

Debate Joe Six-Term
"Asked if he would support gay marriage, Biden said: "No. Barack Obama nor I support redefining from a civil side what constitutes marriage

Now that Joe Biden is a three letter word. L-I-E

Since this is California, Biden says he is for gay marriage.

If he is Pennyslvania, Biden will say he is against Gay marriage.

Biden is a serial LIAR and will say anything to get votes depending on which state he is campaigning.

If the bible thumpers want to ban gay marriage, then we should go back to the bible and ban anyone who has been divorced from remarrying. No one who has been divorced should be allowed to remarry. If the thumpers want to enforce the bible, they should not be allowed to pick and choose.

Janice: Then, Janice, why are you on here? I never understood people like you that like to call certain media outlets "biased" yet you frequent these places very often. I don't like Fox News, but I'm obviously not going to waste my time there. So, again, WHY are you here? Also, you're giving the "biased" news forums more hits, isn't that the opposite of what you want?

-- Biden is a serial LIAR and will say anything to get votes depending on which state he is campaigning. --

What part of:

"Barack Obama nor I support redefining from a civil side what constitutes marriage"

Did you not understand?

Joe Biden has sold out all of his principles to be Obama's VP he is nothing more than a Yes man. How can a man who attacked Obama so hard in the debates and said he was not ready to lead know all of a sudden see eye to eye with Obama on 100% of the issues. Joe Biden is nothing more than a puppet on a string. I would respect Biden if he would actually admit he does disagree with Obama on some Issues

geevill: there's a difference between wanting to BAN gay marriage and just not wanting to make gay marriage LEGAL. You may not like Coca Cola, but it wouldn't make sense for you to vote to BAN it. No one is a liar, and the only people pandering are McCain and Palin. I used to have so much respect for McCain before this election year, because he was indeed a maverick then and was definitely not the usual politician. Even people that were devoted Palin voters in Alaska say they no longer recognize her and that both she and McCain have changed themselves so much to gain the very conservative groups. Obama and Biden have always said the same things, always fought for the same things, and no one is screaming that they've changed into robots since the election year started.

I live in California, and I am going to vote no on banning gay marriage. It's about the constitution, and the equal rights that it grants. If Californians vote this constitutional right away, then what's next, maybe religion. Using many of the same arguments that are used for Prop 10, they want to teach religion in our schools! We will be forced to believe in obscure religions, like mormonism. It can go on and on, and further tear this country apart.

There was only one amendment to the federal constitution that took rights away from people, and it was overturned years later. That was prohibition.

As Americans we should be protecting rights, and not finding ways to take them away.

Joe Biden is a confused idiot or a pandering liar.

Good timing. I'm sure this will help solidify the "Evangelical constituency" of the right for McCain.

Posted by: MajorTom | Oct 17, 2008 12:56:38 PM

batesba74: same to you. Read what I wrote. The people that have changed are McCain and Palin. McCain is no longer the spunky maverick he truly used to be. This campaign has left him looking empty and I wish that he hadn't changed to gain conservative votes, and he might have still had a chance to save this thing. I would have voted for the old McCain.

Billy smith- this is located in Judges 19:22 and also Genesis 19:5. Enjoy-

22 As they were enjoying themselves, suddenly certain men of the city, perverted men,[a] surrounded the house and beat on the door. They spoke to the master of the house, the old man, saying, “Bring out the man who came to your house, that we may know him carnally!”
23 But the man, the master of the house, went out to them and said to them, “No, my brethren! I beg you, do not act so wickedly! Seeing this man has come into my house, do not commit this outrage. 24 Look, here is my virgin daughter and the man’s[b] concubine; let me bring them out now. Humble them, and do with them as you please; but to this man do not do such a vile thing!” 25 But the men would not heed him. So the man took his concubine and brought her out to them. And they knew her and abused her all night until morning; and when the day began to break, they let her go.

Greg H,

Good think the election ballots do not require a lot of reading comprehension, otherwise you may not be able to vote. Biden told Ellen that he would be against allowing gay marriage.

Palin lacks Joe Biden's experience ... and that is a good thing!!
