Biden on Debate: I'll Be 'Disappointed' If McCain Brings Up Ayers
October 14, 2008 4:24 PM
ABC News' Matt Jaffe Reports: For the first time in five weeks, Sen. Joe Biden, D-Del., Tuesday fielded questions from his traveling press corps, applauding Republican candidate John McCain for standing up to some of the "attitude" expressed by GOP supporters at rallies and denouncing the Republicans for "over the top" ads.
"I was proud that John decided to take on some of the attitude that was expressed at one of his campaign rallies and I hope he keeps it up," Biden said, referencing McCain's attempt to temper the fervor of his supporters at a Minnesota rally last week.
Continued Biden, "In my view, the ads that are being run picturing Barack Obama and people saying 'known terrorist' -- I think that's over the top."
As he continued his two-day bus tour across the Buckeye State stopping at Lisbon's Steel Trolley Diner for lunch, Biden said "Barack Obama was eight years old when this guy Ayers was doing bad things."
Biden says he knows about Ayers but has never met him and pushed back on the notion that the former sixties radical could be classified under the general perception of terrorist. I think the average person looks out there and sees this guy who they say is a known terrorist, and I think they - the vast majority of the American people associate terrorism with, you know, radical Islamic groups and al Qaeda. I just think it's - I think it's over the top."
The Democratic vice-presidential nominee frequently notes that he considers Republican candidate Sen. John McCain a good friend, even while criticizing GOP ads that attack Sen. Barack Obama’s character and background.
McCain is aware that Biden disapproves of the GOP's campaign tactics, the Delaware lawmaker said, even though the two senators have not seen each other since a September 11 service forum in New York City.
"I know John knows my views," Biden said, indicating his believe that voters will look past political attacks to focus on the issues at hand.
"They want to know what is John McCain, what is Barack Obama going to do to change their circumstance? What is it gonna do?," Biden said. "All through Ohio here, people are losing jobs. Their homes are being foreclosed on. The people who aren't having their homes foreclosed on, they're looking at the nest egg they had and the equity in their home drying up. And they want to know what we're going to do."
Crediting former president Bill Clinton, Biden paraphrased "all campaigns are about tomorrow, not yesterday."
Continued Biden, "I think that's what people want to know. And I think when you don't talk about those things, when you don't lay out, when you spend more time talking about your opponent than you do what you're going to do, then I think it's fairly transparent."
Biden said he felt "good" about tomorrow's debate, expressing "total confidence" in Obama.
Biden warned that he would be "disappointed" to see McCain bring up Ayers in Wednesday's third and final debate, though McCain has threatened to do so in response to Obama's suggestion that the Republican candidate doesn't have the guts to raise the issue to his face.
All Obama has to do, Biden says, is "repeat the performance he's had the last two times out."
Biden said the debates have contrasted "a guy who’s confident and steady and a guy who's not quite sure of where he wants to take the country."
The traveling press corps was satiated by Biden's Q&A, but the senator was still hungry for his lunch, ending the brief session with "I'm looking for my cheeseburger here."

I donot understand why Biden or any other democrats have to suggest McCain as to how he should run his campaign. If McCain continues his tecniques, he will definitely sink. The democrat should let him do the crap that he has been doing for days and see him going down.

When the democrats start applauding the republican campaign, then we know that we're in real trouble. They're such hypocrites. If Barak Obama was a republican with the same background, he would have been totally excoriated in the press.

Have been thinking on a couple things.
How did Ayers's "working group" get approved by Annenberg, a big R? Distance from project and the filter of academia...go read reports on the Annenberg Challenge and tell me if you can tell what they actually did...all they do is cloak action in academic terms...I can only imagine it was more difficult to tell what they intended to do before they actually did it.
So, Gregorian gets a proposal (he is a big academic, too) and it has all kinds of great language like "Partners" and "decentralization" and "parent involvement" etc., which means??? until it is put in practice. Sounds good though, right?
In practice, the Challenge created "partnerships" with schools that were dominated by "activist" "community organizing" groups that focused on identity and radical politics rather than education.
Reports from the Challenge talk about how much "institutional learning" and other things went on, and eventually report how nothing was achieved...
BUT, something was achieved! It is a bit like a b-movie...
Don't you sometimes wonder how a particular movie got made, it was so bad? Sure, it gets bad reviews and makes no money, but everyone who worked on it gets paid and can pad their resumes.
Same thing here. What people often fail to see as a factor in the academic world and the "organizing" world is that self-interest is at play big time. Ayers and friends get to try to get their version of "change" in the schools, disguising it as something that might actually help. Then, whether it succeeds or fails, they can say, "we learned a lot"...meanwhile, they all get cushy salaries as board members and "organizers" and get to say that they were associated with this prestigious foundation, tout their supposed public service credentials, etc.
Meanwhile, the schools stay the same...bad, but more "enlightened" about "relevance" and "grass roots" change, etc.
See above for blueprint of Obama's presidency...a lot of academic discussions about change that sound pretty good, but very little gets accomplished. Also, the demand for change, even if not everything needs it...
Obama will get paid and get the ultimate pad for his resume, that's for sure. And so will all his friends in academia, who will drool at the chance to shift fed money to pet projects that accomplish little.

well chuck i have been saying that forever. our support of israel and their illegal suppression of rights (among many other israeli misdeeds ) are the EXACT REASON all the muslims in the world are against us.
we need to let israel know that the days of them doing whatever they want and calling for our help when all the arabs come for them ARE OVER!! until they can act reasonably and fairly and according to international law,as far as i am concerned israel is an outlaw nation whose overt support by the usa hurts our national interests in many more ways than it helps ,which begs the questions: 1)why the hell are we spending all that $$ on aid to one of the richest nations per capita on earth and 2) what does the usa ,as a non religious government get out of backing israel? these questions shouldve been asked along time ago and 9/11 might not have happened.
screw israel and their land grabbing facist government. they could care less about anyone but themselves. pffft on them ,we need to disassociate our selves with the israeli government until they begin to show some 21st century ideals , not this zionism b/s.
THIS american taxpayer is all formuch much less israeli support from any us administration ,UNTIL israel starts acting like a nation of compassionate human beings seeking peace and fairness.

Keating 5.

McCain is afraid to bring up Ayers (or any of the other sleaze) to Obama's face because he knows what would happen; the counterpunch deftly blocking the blow and turning it back on the aggressor. Obama has done it again and again, turning a "weakness" into a strength (see rev Wright or Farrakhan from the primary, or foreign policy in the first McCain debate).
There is no need to bring up Keating; simply refuting the Ayers smear makes McCain look dishonest and petty, should he dare to go there (prediction: he won't).

So, when it was Obama v HRC, Clinton's pardon of the Weathermen (who didn't kill anyone) was another bad/suspect Clinton decision. Now that it's Obama v McCain, no one should be held responsible for their association w/a group that did actually place bombs and kill people. Nice trick.

He should bring up NAFTA instead. Obambi blew a gasket over it during the primaries, but Biden voted for it. Just goes to show that the Canadian official who said Obama was just lying over NAFTA was RIGHT!

I suspect McCain will bring it up.
He and Palin are full of NO CLASS!
They will do anything even lie and
cheat their way into the White House
they are a disgrace. Full of Hatred
and Angry. Geez, what a wonderful
pair these two are to run the country.
By the way Palin is so very happy that
her son is in Iraq. She is a pathetic
mother. I feel sorry for her son.
She forced him into the military and
now she doesn't even feel even a little
sorrow for him. I saw her rally where
I thought she was going jump up and down
with such happiness. Yep!! these
two are evil and they love wars!!!!

McCain's "OL' GEEZER EXPRESS" has run out of straight-talk and the wheels are falling off:
MCCAIN HAS AN ABUSIVE TEMPER AND PALIN ABUSES POWER.
PALIN IS BUSTED. SHE IS CONFIRMED AS HAVING ABUSED PERSONAL POWER IN HER GOVERNOR'S OFFICE. VIOLATED ETHICS. PERIOD. WHAT PART OF THIS DON'T PEOPLE UNDERSTAND?
The finding of Palin's guilt in abuse of executive power speaks worlds about John McCain's lack of judgment. But of course he admitted he had only met her personally ONE TIME before he selected her--was it with the other Joe Six-Pack's at a bar, and he decided to take her with him? Who knows, there are not even any pictures of him meeting with her before he selected the LUV GUV!
She's no longer a pitbull, but has to go back to being a sleddog ---....As the ol' song says: You go North to Alaska, you go North perhaps you know, ....way up North....North to Alaska.... -- RIGHT NOW PLEASE!
No longer a pitbull, but looking like a weasel--a little ol' mavericky weasel-you betcha!
It'll be painless when we become Mccainless and palinless...
Let's put Obama and Biden to work for all America, and let's do it now!!

Hey Steve, here's hoping "Osama Obama" shatters the very fibre of McSame/"Stalin Palin"'s being.
And I sure have never heard of a que card before, although it is I suppose possible that Obama was a "que" or member of Omega Psi Phi.
Perhaps you merely want to identify with the candidates most like yourself -- after all, McCain graduated at the bottom of his class, and Palin dropped out of five colleges in as many years... in pursuit of a journalism degree. McCain is a divorced admitted philanderer. And Palin has clearly done a great job with her kids, what with their drug dealing, pregnancy et al.
Get a clue. Obama's not an Arab, he's not a terrorist, he doesn't hate America, and he probably hates Jessie Jackson as a majority of black people do.
The funny thing is I don't even like Obama, and I sure won't vote for him, but your ignorance is appalling.

White supremecy is on it's perverbial deathbed being read it's last rites.
Cynical white Americans who have been pulling plugs of hair from their heads due to their insecurities with Obama out-thinking, out-flanking, out-debating and out-classing Casper McCain have now realized in the past several weeks that McChicken doesn't have a porkchop's chance in a piranha tank of even coming close to POTUS.
In fact, it will be a Ouji Board Miracle of unheard proportions if McCain gets 190 electoral votes.
Cmon, SING ALONG WITH ME!
Row row row your boats gently to DEFEEEAT!
Merrily merrily merrily merrily, all the CROW you can EEEEEEEEEEEAT!
Cry now, move to Alaska or kill yourselves November 4th.

With or without Ayers, Mr. Obama is the same fake candidate - the one who promises everything but produce nothing, the one who says one thing with one group but say a different thing to another, the self-made liar and hyprocrite from all angles.

Obama, the creative African Wolf Spider has spun a web so transparent that the stupid, directionless and impulsive cockroach McCain doesn't realize a trap when he sees one.
This is a classic example of using what your enemy thinks is his strength, (McCain's Ego) which is actually his weakness, to lure him into a political ambush that will surely finish him off.
Heeeeeeeeeeere cockroach. Come a little closer...

Great Quote from Americas Right Blog
A great American named Samuel Adams once said, “if ever a time should come when vain and aspiring men shall possess the highest seats in government, our country will stand in need of its experienced patriots to prevent its ruin.”
