Biden: Powell Endorsement Means 'No More Questions' About Obama's Readiness
October 19, 2008 7:57 PM
ABC News' Matt Jaffe reports: Sen. Joe Biden, D-Del., today traveled to the Pacific Northwest for a rally before 11,500 supporters in Tacoma, Wash., touting former Secretary of State Colin Powell’s endorsement of Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., as the answer to any questions about Obama’s readiness to be commander in chief.
"Today we’re proud, and I mean this sincerely, very proud to add another critical voice in American public policy and military affairs for the past 25 years to the endorsement list of those who have joined endorsing our ticket, Colin Powell!” the Democratic vice-presidential nominee said as the crowd erupted. “Thank you, Colin!
“From the very beginning, this Republican party has tried to suggest that Barack Obama, Sen. Barack Obama wasn’t ready to be commander in chief,” continued Biden, who noted that he’s been friends with Powell for 25 years. “Ladies and gentlemen, with all the three and four star generals, with the former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the former national security adviser, the former secretary of state, one of the most respected men who have ever worn the uniform endorsing Barack Obama over John McCain today, no more questions! Barack Obama will be a commander in chief we can all respect!”
On the same day Obama received the endorsement of Powell, a Republican and former member of the Bush administration, Biden noted that the Democratic presidential candidate's proposal on Iraq has earned the support of President Bush, leaving McCain “the odd man out.”
“George Bush, after six painful years, has finally figured out it's time to transfer responsibility to the Iraqis, draw down American forces,” said the chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations committee. “Well, guess what? George Bush is about to sign an agreement with the Iraqi leadership saying we'll have all combat troops out of the cities in Iraq within seven months, and we'll have all troops out of Iraq by Dec. 31, 2009. So folks, folks, John McCain talks about leadership. Let me remind you. Whose idea was that? Barack Obama's. John McCain's the only odd man out now, along with Gov. Palin.”
But the draft of the Status of Forces Agreement calls for U.S. troops to be out of Iraq by Dec. 31, 2011.
Speaking at Cheney Stadium, home of the Seattle Mariners’ Triple-A farm team Tacoma Rainiers, Biden said that Democrats were “temporarily changing the name from Cheney Stadium to Obama-Biden Stadium for the day.”
“Besides, if it was Cheney Stadium, we’d be at an undisclosed location.” Biden quipped in a dig at the man he hopes to replace as vice-president. “You’d never be able to find us.”

Diana in California;
so I guess by your philosophy, Joe Liberman and Mitt Romney are only supporting McCain because he is white?
People are so stupid, i'll be so pleased on November 5th when you all can continue to cry; only then it will fall on deaf ears because it will be too late!
O and Joe, Cause Colin Said So!!!

I think Powell's endorsement of Obama is huge. "Some" republicans are upset by it because they wanted it for McCain but it's too late. If he would have run an honorable campaign then maybe he would have been endorsed. If McCain would have shown better judgement during the economic crisis then maybe he could have gained Powell's support. McCain made his own choices and has to live with them. It's not the democrats fault. Some on the angry right need to stop blaming the rest of us for everything. It is those in your own part that are angering you.

wow! hey zerO, or whatever you're calling yourself as you ramp up to post again. reposting very lengthy, and even thoughtful essays over and over again, does not make them right. you pretty much lost me when you applauded mccain for continuing to support tax breaks for companies who send jobs
overseas...whatever happened to 'country first'?

Change we can do without... another phoney politician blabbering about how he and only he can change DC..... yeah right! NO-blah-blah... no thanks!!

It's funny that someone said that Colin Powell, an educated black man chose color over "the right choice". Than why does Obama poll so much better amongst educated WHITE people as well?
I would venture to say that he is far more educated than you, because he thinks this country should come before party, something most Republicans pretend they believe in, and then do the exact opposite.
Reading more of Jamesferrel's entry just shows the Fox News puppet he really is. In fact it's hilarious that now he is claiming that Bush is a liberal when it comes to spending!! Amazing. Every single Republican President since 1980 ends with a spending deficit and far more into debt. Only Bill Clinton ended with a surplus and cut our national debt. You're a tool of fantasy land James. I wonder if you would even know what to talk about if Fox News didn't feed it to you.

It is interesting that the same people who say that the members of the Bush administration who took us to Iraq are a bunch of liars and war criminals are now celebrating the wisdom and good judgment of one of the people most implicated in “lying us into war.”

Powell lost all credibility when he lied to the UN. He's as culpable as Bush and Cheney. did anyone see the look on his face when he was talking about it? He looked like he was going to cry. He didn't look happy, he almost looked like he was acting.

Didn't BIDEN a few months ago say Obama was not ready to lead.

The only reason McCain chose Governor Palin is because of her race, not because she was qualified.

Check out the HARDBALL interview with
Rep. Michelle Bachmann (MN)
This woman EXEMPLIFIES why I will not be voting for McCain and Parrot!
I can't believe the crap spewing from her mouth. She is McCarthy 2.0 fostered by the McPalin campaign. I sent $50 to her opponent El Tinklenberg and I live in VA.
To the Republican leadership, "Freedom" apparently means we're free to think just like they do.
"Freedom of Religion" now means we're free to be Methodist, Baptist, or Presbiterians.
We cannot let these facist A-holes take our country!

-- Voters the Polls Neglected: All Military Branches Strongly Support McCain --
McCain sits on the Armed Forces committee and is a shoot first ask questions war candidate.
However, veterans are overwhelmingly supporting Obama..
Obama sits on the Veterans Affairs committee and believes, like our country always has until recently, that military force is a last resort option.
Who would of thunk it..

zerO:
That screen name about sums up your intelligence when you post quite a long post (probably cut and pasted from somewhere) several times under another screen name along with this one.
Maybe you want the Corporations to continue to run America, but you are clearly in the minority on that one.
It's time for a change and that change is NOT John McSame (a Wolf in Sheep's clothing is still a Wolf, and John McSame can talk Change and Maverick, but every day he makes it more clear he is a neocon tool.

The only reason Powell endorsed Obama is because of his race./
In America we still have secret elections. BUt the Democrats led by Obama want to destroy that sacred right to VOTE with groups like ACORN
ACORN=GATE
Posted by: Jack | Oct 19, 2008 9:06:11 PM
How has Powell's endorsement suddenly given Obama experience. He still served only 143 days in U.S. Senate before deciding he was ready for the presidency, he still has not written a bill on his own, he still has no idea what the difference is between Revenue and Profit, he he still pushing "socialism" with his "spread the wealth" position.
Powells endorsement didn't wipe away Obama's friendship with an unrepentent murdering terrorist or a criminal, Rezko. He still sat in a Black Liberation theolgy church with his family listening to Rev Wright spew his hate for whites and America for 20 yrs. Obama's extensive association with ACORN and the $832,000 he gave them to help when this election is still out there. He's still part of the failed Democratic Congress and their passion for spending and welfare growth.
Oh and Hamas and Hezbollah and Louis Farakhan are all still endorsing him.
Nope, nothings changed, Obama is still an inexperienced liar.
Maybe if Libya's Moammar Gadhafi's endorses him I might reconsider............Oh wait he did endorse Obama. Nope still not voting for him.

I work for a corporation but want the GOVERNMENT to take it over run by Obama so he can run it out of the COUNTRY
Posted by: jackt51 | Oct 19, 2008 9:07:13 PM
Same old crowd spewing the same old lines.. I would of thought the McCain camp could come up with some fresh new character attacks to distract from their dismal policy stances.. guess not.. is it no wonder the polls continue to dive for McCain.

Interesting how when Colin Powell endorses Obama, instead of accepting that the right-wingers prefer to trash Powell. Just keep listening to all of your creepy talk radio goons. They tell you what to think.

Hannity has "Obama & Friends: History of Radicalism" on fox news right now. It's very interesting to listen to the victims of Obama's friends, Ayers and Doern.

Don't take it from Biden...
"What that just did in one sound bite...is that it eliminated the experience argument."
