McCain Camp Refuses to Criticize Brother Who Penned Angry E-Mail
October 15, 2008 2:42 PM
ABC News' Ron Claiborne, David Wright and Jennifer Parker report: A McCain spokesman refused to criticize Sen. John McCain's brother who penned an angry e-mail this week imploring the campaign to "let John McCain be John McCain."
McCain's little brother, Joe McCain, a former newspaper reporter, fired off an angry email to the McCain campaign Monday night, in an apparent attempt to save his brother's White House bid.
"Let John McCain be John McCain a Great Warrior and Leader of Men and Women," Joe McCain wrote in an email obtained by the Baltimore Sun. "Make ads that show John not as crank and curmudgeon but as a great leader for his time, a man who always, always fights for the average American as best he can, to even the ground and to make more things possible for all."
McCain's brother wrote the email as polls emerged showing Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama widening his lead over McCain.
When asked about the email, McCain campaign spokesman Tucker Bounds refused to criticize McCain's little brother.
"Joe McCain is someone who's been around the campaign a lot, working really hard. He does have a good point," Bounds told ABC News. "There's no better advocate for John McCain than John McCain. Everyone with the campaign understands that. He's entitled to his own opinion. I'm not going to say anything negative about him."

Kind of silly reporting - making a point of noting how the campaign staffer refuses to criticize the candidate's brother.
What did you expect?

Zero-bama abandoned his brother in Kenya at $1 per month. What you expect is that he will abandon anyone, anything for his personal gains.

Joe McCain is right. All this negative campaigning doesn't help. McCain needed to concentrate on how he would help get the economy back in line. He has some good ideas and should have shared them rather than going negative.
I would guess this negativty was Palin's idea. That is her M.O.

dO...if you could read( which I guess you cannot) you would have seen the interview with Obama's half brother.
He said he lives in a nice middle class neighborhood and is happy. His brother offered to bring him to the U.S. or give him financial help, but her refused.

You know DO there you go again foaming out the mouth, Obamas brother is his half brother by his father he did not know well, Since were on the topics of sibilings What about Cindy Mccains half sister that the Mccains lied about and Cindy swindeled her out of half of the Inheritence, so before you go throwing stones check the Mccains yard!

McCain let the neo-cons run his campaign into the ground. He's basically a likeable guy who was the best chance the Republicans had this year. Then the right wing of the party forced him into the Palin pick. He would have had a better chance with Joe Lieberman or even Tom Ridge as a running mate.

oh the media bias from ABC! from the title, you would think Joe must have written some racist email, deserving but getting no criticizm from John McCain!
it is true, Sen. John McCain is the product of John McCain, and Sen. Barack Obama is the product of David Axelrod.

HELLOOOOOOOO. John McShame abandoned his first wife after her serious accident for that bleached blonde drug addict homewrecker Cindy. That's character for ya.

The Obama campaign is the one no telling the truth about the opponents or even his background. Palin is squeaky clean compared to Obama and the slime, sleaze and scum he has kept around him for years and is still holding on to them for support. His ACORN relationship should make an intelligent voter race toward another candidate. But the weak minded are following this man like lemmings. They are waiting for a socialist handout.
His CHANGE IS SOCIALISM.

I have to agree with Chris Rock ... I am voting for the guy with ONE house.

What's worse than one McCain? Two McCains. I want NO McCains running this country.

Mary: "His CHANGE IS SOCIALISM."
Actually the Republican president just ordered the partial nationalization of banks, after previously advocating a $700 billion purchase of mortgage backed securities - and both the Republican and Democratic nominees for president supported the measure.
I'd say the socialism charge is probably not the best way you guys have to criticize Obama at the moment.

McCain's problem is not his campiagn. It's his policies and the R in front of his name.

GIVE ME SUCH A BROTHER AND ILL CONQUER THE WORLD
GOOD FOR YOU, JOE!
Posted by: TJ, THE CLINTONITE | Oct 15, 2008 3:32:14 PM
Oh, and that $700 billion followed recent bailouts of other companies, too, in case anyone is keeping score on the socialism tally.
Posted by: Paul | Oct 15, 2008 3:32:15 PM
Socialism is the direction Obama wants to take this county. If the media were doing its job properly and fairly they would be reporting the truth and nothing but the whole truth. For some reason they are determined to have a democrat in office, regardless of his morals and ethics. I guess the media is just as corrupt as the democratic Congress. Wonder how much they pocketed before our economy went south.

Vanessa: "McCain's problem is not his campiagn. It's his policies and the R in front of his name."
I think you have a point, but I also think McCain has run a terrible campaign. Obama now looks like the less risky choice, given McCain's erratic performances during the Russia-Georgia thing and this economic crisis.
And that's not just me. Polling says Obama is more trusted in a crisis.

Would you be more comfortable with Obama if he was on a second marriage and admitted to multiple affairs?
Posted by: Paul | Oct 15, 2008 3:37:10 PM
Joe sounds as delusional as his older brother. Insanity runs in the family I hear. Great warrior and leader of men and women???? Ludicrous.
