McCain Fighting for Florida, North Carolina
October 14, 2008 10:29 PM
ABC News' Ron Claiborne reports: Talk about having to play defense in the waning days of the campaign. Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., is scheduled to make stops in Miami and Melbourne, Fla., this Friday. He flies Friday night to Charlotte, N.C., presumably to campaign Saturday in the Tar Heel state.
It is not a favorable sign for the McCain campaign that he is still trying to nail down these two traditionally Republican states. President Bush won Florida in 2000 and expanded his official margin of victory in 2004. North Carolina last went Democratic in a presidential election in 1976, when Jimmy Carter, from neighboring Georgia, won it.
The latest polls show McCain and Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., locked in a tight race in North Carolina. Obama is narrowly ahead in Florida, the nation's fourth largest state.

"Obama is narrowly ahead in Florida, the nation's fourth largest state."
Well, what is "narrowly"? In the RCP AVERAGE for Florida, he's exactly 5 points ahead. In the latest Fox/Rasmussen poll: 5 points as well.
With 3 weeks left in this race, it looks like Obama will even win Florida.

Even Florida Governor Crist who helped McCain win the primaries in Florida is distancing himself.. Florida voted for Clinton. And then voted Bush the last two elections.. they have been burned twice, and won't let it happen again.

I prefer to follow the money instead of the many different polls out there. Intrade.com has Obama ahead of McCain in Florida 71% to 28%. NC is closer with Obama ahead 56% to 44%.

How come ABC wont address Palin Highest rape and womans violence in Alaska?
How come ABC wont address MCCain lying to his own supports at rallies?

These polls that are being shown by the
liberal media are not surprising. Maybe they polled those voters registered by
ACORN.

The media wants Obama, so the public wants Obama. John was stupid enough to think they would choose HIM over their own party. Stupid John, REALLY STUPID! The GOP isn't even trying to contest local elections. They've given up. Now we get at least four years of the "Obama brigades." Thanks GOP.

If americam elects an african american president in 2008 will it be time to begin restricting affirmative action programs?

After watching tonights episode of frontline on PBS I now realize that Obama has accused his oppenents of playing the race card after having lost a 200o election to Bobby ross in chicago

Turn off the lights, the party is over! I am sure gonna miss the opportunity to see Palin lead the free world - that would be hilarious.

Then it would have shown McCain in the lead since the GOP has done it's best to purge voter registrations... again.

In the 2000 chicago election in which Obama lost to a black congressman named bobby ross obama was accused of not being black enough. By accusing his opponents of playing the race card, Obama prevented this from happening in the 2008 election.

Apparently, the people aren't as stupid as you make them out to be.

And amazingly, most Americans just bend over and take it. Palin is a perfect example of how low this country has sunk in terms of expectations for political leaders.

VIRGINIA .... IS MOVING FROM TOSS UP TO OBAMA
NEWS FLASH. MCCAIN ECONOMIC ADVISORS are working on a new solution to assist in the getting the US ECONOMY back on track
McCain should suspend his campaign and send that money back to supporters.

This is very funny, all of a sudden the republican ticket can find jobs for people, what the hell have they been doing for the past eight years, go to hell McCain/Palin, and that hockey mom can put lipstick on my butt, morons!!!!

We are mired in debt, the trillions in surplus McCain's party got has been spent and more, ten BILLION dollars of taxpayers money is being spent for the Iraq war; could we not use that money here, for American families and small business owners? John McCain's chief of his transition team aided Saddam Hussein - yes, that's right - the man we fought TWO wars against - the "evildoer" and American soldiers died and shed blood for and John McCain hires this guy and is friends with him. This man BENEFITTED financially by aiding Saddam Hussein. Is this country first? Proof? Here it is:
"William Timmons, the Washington lobbyist who John McCain has named to head his presidential transition team, aided an influence effort on behalf of Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein to ease international sanctions against his regime.
The two lobbyists who Timmons worked closely with over a five year period on the lobbying campaign later either pleaded guilty to or were convicted of federal criminal charges that they had acted as unregistered agents of Saddam Hussein's government.
During the same period beginning in 1992, Timmons worked closely with the two lobbyists, Samir Vincent and Tongsun Park, on a previously unreported prospective deal with the Iraqis in which they hoped to be awarded a contract to purchase and resell Iraqi oil. Timmons, Vincent, and Park stood to share at least $45 million if the business deal went through."
McCain picks Palin who is intellectually deficient and everyone agrees is incapable of being fit for the office of VP - this is serious - we live in a complicated world and we need intellect and we don't need someone who isn't even educated about her own country. There is no comparison between the two tickets.
You don't pick a VP for gender or to play to "the base" - that is just irresponsible - you pick someone who can guide us through these very difficult times internationally and domestically.
