McCain Fighting for Florida, North Carolina
October 14, 2008 10:29 PM
ABC News' Ron Claiborne reports: Talk about having to play defense in the waning days of the campaign. Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., is scheduled to make stops in Miami and Melbourne, Fla., this Friday. He flies Friday night to Charlotte, N.C., presumably to campaign Saturday in the Tar Heel state.
It is not a favorable sign for the McCain campaign that he is still trying to nail down these two traditionally Republican states. President Bush won Florida in 2000 and expanded his official margin of victory in 2004. North Carolina last went Democratic in a presidential election in 1976, when Jimmy Carter, from neighboring Georgia, won it.
The latest polls show McCain and Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., locked in a tight race in North Carolina. Obama is narrowly ahead in Florida, the nation's fourth largest state.

Nope, most are concerned about the direction of our country and simply doing what we can to fight the BS coming out of the GOP.
Consider it a moratorium on ignorance.

To all the Obama supporters out there: While it is great Obama is up in the polls, the polls mean nothing if we don't go out and vote by the millions. Please, don't get too complacent. Tell your friends, your neighbors, your co-workers, your parents, your siblings, your babysitter, your dog-walker, your house sitter, your postman, your garbage man, your newspaper delivery man, to V-O-T-E and V-O-T-E for Obama!!!

the pollsters are not reliable, for example john zogby's brother is james zogby who is the head of the American Arab Institute-yes zogby tweeks the polls to favor obama, you betcha!
i would dismiss at least 2 pts off each pollester, most of the pollsters are left leaning-and in zogbys case extreme bias. take an additional 1-2% for no-shows/and 1-2 % of independents-and yes unfortunately the bradley effect will rear its ugly head and will trim another 1-2% off obama. votes. this race is not over.
the goal for tweeking the polls is to discourage republicans from voting.

republicans typically do not get 'noisy' like the libs, they just show up to vote, and that is what matters on election day. this race is not over...

I believe everyone that is voting for Obama understands what is at stake. They will VOTE for Obama, no one is going to stay home. Not every some conservatives that refuse to vote for McCain. Like the First Family Eisenhower's and Christorher Buckley.

Been there.. doing that. Have 'converted' at least a couple hundred former McCain supporters who were just voting the party line or because of his POW status. Once they looked at the issues and where each candidate stood on them, the choice was easy. Most respond instantly to the difference in education. Next important is tax plans.. followed closely by energy, environment and health plans.

ethel are you are suggesting that 100% of obama supporters will show up to vote? dream on!
Posted by: landsend | Oct 15, 2008 12:30:29 AM
Mccain should give us back that 84 million he bamboozled us out of to launch his general election run.
Posted by: james | Oct 15, 2008 12:30:52 AM
Concerned American i went along with obama supporter's at least 5 times just to get rid of them. they have become like jehovas witnesses very annoying. so don't be so confident that your 'converted' will actually vote for obama.

When Jenna Bush announces she is also voting for Barack Obama, I think McCain will go ballistic against the Bush family again.

james and obama should give back the 800 hund thou he gave acorn.
Posted by: landsend | Oct 15, 2008 12:37:33 AM
Tomorrow's debate should be amusing. With any luck, Grandpa McCrankypants will lose his cool, get red in the face, and finally BURST OUT WITH A CURSE-LADEN TIRADE!!
We are working hard here in NC not only to win the state for Obama, but also to unseat our absentee Senator, Libby "Never in NC" Dole. Any money sent to Democratic Senate candidate Kay Hagan is much appreciated!

He didn't just give it to them, it was payment for services related to a get out the vote effort during the primaries.
Sorry to confuse you with 'facts', but someone has to :)

I saw on the news today there are still problems in Florida with their voting machines etc. After what happened with Bush/Gore, You would have thought they'd have gotten things fixed by now and all the bugs worked out.

Don't worry, I know for a fact they will. I don't go door to door like the bible thumpers. This is in an academic setting with open minded individuals who simply did not know the issues or where each candidate stood.
But thanks for caring!

Any Jew in Florida that would vote Obama is nuts. This guy has a Director of Muslim outreach, Minha Husani (mayber a relative) and has said he wants the support of the Muslim community and Arab Americans. Do you think Sen. McCain has a Director of Muslim outreach, and wants the Arab American vote?
NEVER OBAMA, COUNTRY FIRST McCAIN!

Jessie Jackson knows Obama is not a friend of the Jews, as he isn't and neither is Rev. Wright. FLORIDA BEWARE!
