Obama Says He's 'in the Hunt' for a Blue North Carolina

ABC News' Sunlen Miller reports: Sen. Barack Obama –- settling in for an anticipated two days of debate prep in North Carolina -- told the N.C. Democratic State Party dinner that he has high hopes for flipping the state blue.

"Despite the pundits, despite the prognosticators, despite the cynicism, turns out 30 days left we are right here in the hunt in North Carolina," Obama said to a crowd of more than 700 who came out for the annual Vance-Aycock Dinner and were surprised by Obama's last minute appearance.

Polls indicate the race is neck-and-neck between Obama and Sen. John McCain in North Carolina. President Bush won in the state in 2004 by 13 percent, yet the Obama campaign believes it is one of the key states that they can compete in and turn blue this election.

"When we started this campaign we said that we were going to change the political map," Obama told the audience and then referenced his large primary victory over Sen. Hillary Clinton in the state as an indicator of his support. "We had a few bumps in the road during the primary season -- turns out that people in North Carolina decided they were going to lift up the Obama campaign. So I said to myself, maybe we should just keep on coming to North Carolina and see what happens."

With 15 electoral votes, North Carolina has become an important goal for Obama. The Illinois senator has spent seven days in the state since the start of the general election.

Obama will hold a rally in Asheville on Sunday afternoon and then spend two straight days working at a resort in the strategically chosen mountains of North Carolina, preparing for Tuesday's debate with McCain in Nashville.

McCain closes his campaign operation in Michigan, and Pennsylvania is posed for closure, Obama is gaining in the polls and today on the stump Palin tries to tie Obama to Ayers.... We wonder why????
Since the RNC wants to play the guilt by association swifboating mentally negative campaign tactics it looks like the spotlight will shift to her alleged abuse of power acts with Todd defending her in the Troopergate investigation. Of course he is going to appear to cooperate at the same time camp Mac is trying to get the case thrown out This is simple a slight of hands magic trick. I hope they fail!:

Afterall isn't that what the REpublicans did the last 2 is steal. I wonder if the roled were reversed would the Republican Thugs have protested? The News is bias against Dems not Republican Thugs.McCain and the Republicans have no help for the middle class. Our household makes more then $250k but most people don't. Wake up America, Wake up middle class,Wake up Poor people. Obama/Biden Smiling all the way to the White House..A President that is biracial and represents the majority..

Earth to Obama, your party gave us the October surprise of the bad economy that your party was in control of handling. Now, the GOP will have a nice October surprise for you in return. Those 527's are coming and more..

Go Barack.. You hit N. Carolina and I'll be down here in Florida turning them around. Between the two, history will be made :)

Once we can get past the Roveian tactics being used by the GOP, people realize that the choice is easy.. McCain supports the rich and big corporates, Obama is and has always been for what is best for all Americans. Easy as pie to see when you look what each has been up to this session in congress and what legislation they have introduced. I invite all to go look for themselves:

THE "BUBBA VOTE" AND THE "REDNECK VOTE"

Yes indeed.. this redneck is voting for Obama, and by buddy bubba down the road a piece is too. We had enough of them rich fat cats getting off easy and us poor working slobs are having to pick up 'em

N.C. and Florida will be all McCain. Dream on Obama. McCain will be the next president because he loves America. Barack has ties to people who hate America.

He should get this state he took it away from Hillary, he should be able to take it away from Mr. Dementia and Mrs. Fluff.

I don't think the 527's will do any harm this time. Kerry did nothing about them. Obama hits hard the minute the negative ads appear. Obama can win without Fl. He's already ahead in some states that Bush won.

Shut Up Christie!

Oh darling, please.. McCain is all about making his wealthy friends more so. If you can't see that, then you have indeed been fooled. You can pull your guilt-by-association tricks all you like but it won't change the facts darling. Remember, it wasn't Obama who got caught with his hands in the cookie jar.. can you say "Keaton-5".. there you go, I new you could.

Go look at the issues dear.. it is more than obvious who is for who.

I think Obama will go up and he's gonna fall in the polls. Too many people are saying that he's peaking too fast and should had been double digits away from McCain due to the wrong track direction of the country in the polling. He just cannot close the deal.

Way to go, Barack! You are the real deal. We will carry North Carolina, Florida, Ohio, Missouri, Pennsylvania, Michigan and our traditional winning areas. This will be a clean sweep. The McCain- Phailing campaign is done. It's over.

Have you no shame? Now you are on the side of George W. Bush?

Poor dear.. as more and more people open their eyes and look at the real issues instead of sound bites, they will come around to Obama. I know of at least a couple dozen that have turned around once they were shown the facts. They were buying all the spam e-mail falsehoods, and even that guilt by association junk you have been trying to spread.

Once you get past the BS, the choice is clear honey.. it is a shame you haven't been able to get past the BS yet, but I have hope in you yet dear.
