Obama's Anniversary Gift to Michelle
October 03, 2008 2:52 PM
John Berman, Sunlen Miller, Ursula Fahy and David Chalian report: Barack Obama didn't exactly move heaven and earth to impress his wife, but he did stop traffic.
In the town of Glenside, PA Obama's motorcade made an unannounced stop at Penny's Flowers so the Senator could buy Michelle Obama flowers for their 16th wedding anniversary.
"I wish I could just slip in and get some flowers for my wife," he said.
He wondered for just a moment for about what he should buy: "I'm thinking not red...maybe yellow?"
He settled on a bouqet of a dozen white roses surrounded in babies breath. Total price, $47.70.
The scene was somewhat reminiscent of a scene from, "The American President," a film directed by Democratic activist (though Hillary Clinton supporter) Rob Reiner. In it, the American president Andrew Shepherd (played by Michael Douglass) tries to buy flowers for his new girlfriend, Sidney Allen Wade (Annette Benning). Remember? "The dogwood is both a tree and a flower. I'd like a dozen, please. Really? No dogwoods?" He says.

This guy is total class. Congradulations to a couple who obviously love each other very much.

Dear me, what would this article have looked like if it had been Bush who did this:
Headline: President Bush Disrupts Traffic with Publicity Stunt
President Bush, who has killed thousands of babies in Iraq after having lied about WMD's to enrich his oil buddies, made a unplanned stop at a florist today to buy flowers for his wife. The fact that he could have called 1800flowers was apparently lost on this dolt of a president.
Nevertheless, Mr. Bush, who choked on a pretzel in 2004, bought a dozen roses for Mrs. Bush and paid with a credit card where he is no doubt receiving a preferential interest rate from his oil rich buddies who drink the blood of innocent Palestinian children.

Gee, that's swell, white will look nice next to her new blue burkah. Who paid the &47.70, Rezco?

Hand me a barf bag ... everything this guy does is scripted and staged!

Hmmm.....he should have bought her an American flag and a script of the Pledge of Allegiance, since she hates America so much!
DemWits...they NEVER cease to amaze me!

Nice job Tom. Perfect assessment. Keep up the witty commentary. Olberman and the libs shouldn't have a monopoly on satire such as this.

This man will do anything to get attention. He could have used his cell phone or computer to order flowers for his beloved.
Posted by: mary | Oct 3, 2008 3:26:31 PM
Maybe he should have bought her some fried chicken and watermelon!

Some people are so cynical and jealous!! This man obviously loves his wife and regardless as to how he did it we all need not judge remember he is not the one who cheated on his wife! Considering the history of this country and also the present if Mrs. Obama wasn't 100% in love with this country could you blame her? In short just SHUT UP!

Awwwwww.......
Obama the idiot!

Hope he picked up a bouquet for Keith Olbermann too – the least he could do to thank Keith for incessantly and unfairly attacking Hillary during the primaries.
No flowers for Ted Kennedy or John Kerry though – their endorsements of Obama meant nothing in MA where Hillary whooped his a** by 15 points.
And for Oprah – forget flowers; just pick up a few pizzas for her to snack on.

Thet let us learn how to read and I bet that makes you SO MAD!! Came back to bite you in the butt huh? Im pretty sure you and your friends will find a way to hold another minority down even if its not Barack

I wonder what he bought Rezko, Ayers, and don't forget, the Rev. Wright....!

I guess when you back a guy who had mistresses, left his wife after she was in a bad car accident, and married another woman before the ink was dried on the divorce decree, you would be cynical of a guy celebrating his 16th wedding anniversary. Is it Obama's fault he has a motorcade for security purposes (which McCain, Biden, and Palin all have), and he has people following him around the majority of the day? Not like you can slip into anyplace with limos, SUVs of secret service, and a group of secret service agents.

A nice touch from a class guy. The posting of the bigoted comments show no class but seem to be part of the hate mongering of the ignorant.
