Palin Guarantees Win in Pennsylvania
October 23, 2008 10:11 PM
ABC News' Imtiyaz Delawala reports: Near the hometown of Hall of Fame quarterback Joe Namath, Republican vice presidential nominee Gov. Sarah Palin guaranteed a come-from-behind victory for the McCain-Palin ticket in Pennsylvania.
“This morning we were in Ohio, we were in the home of Joe the Plumber,” Palin said to a crowd of supporters packed onto the football field of Beaver Area High School near Pittsburgh, Pa., this evening. “And now, we are here in Beaver County, Pa., home of Joe the Quarterback.”
Palin was referring to former New York Jets quarterback Joe Namath, who was born and raised in nearby Beaver Falls, and led the underdog Jets to an upset win in Super Bowl III over the heavily favored Baltimore Colts, after Namath had guaranteed a win three days before the game.
“Now, Joe Namath is probably a little bit before your time,” Palin said to the high school students in the crowd. “But do you remember, though, in the biggest game of his life, all the experts had Joe Namath and the Jets written off to defeat? They were up against the elite team that had all the money, and they were held in awe by the media. And Broadway Joe replied, 'we’re gonna win the game, I guarantee it.' And they won.
“And I hope Joe won’t mind if I paraphrase him some in this state, his home state, Pennsylvania, with your help, we’re going to win this state. I guarantee it,” Palin said to wild applause.
Like the Jets in Super Bowl III, the McCain-Palin ticket faces an uphill battle in the Keystone State, which has been won by the Democratic ticket in the last four presidential elections. The latest state polls show the Obama-Biden ticket ahead by at least 10 points with less than two weeks to go before Election Day.
At the western Pennsylvania rally, Palin continued the Republican ticket’s use of Ohio plumber Joe Wurzelbacher’s encounter with Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., to attempt to paint the Democratic presidential nominee’s tax policies as a radical plan to redistribute wealth. A few supporters in the crowd shouted “socialism” during Palin’s remarks, while another man yelled out “Obama’s a socialist!” above the crowd.
“He’s hiding his real agenda of redistributing your hard-earned money,” Palin said to boos. “So I know that we have other Joe the Plumbers in the house, in this audience today, and it doesn’t sound like many of you are gonna be supporting ‘Barack the Wealth-Spreader’ in this election.”
As she had done in Ohio earlier in the day, Palin asked the crowd to “hire” the McCain-Palin ticket on Nov. 4.
“We will never forget that we’re accountable to the people who hired us. We will be there to work for you, the good people of America. So, Pennsylvania, will you hire us, will you send us to Washington to shake things up and clean things up?” Palin asked, prompting cheers and applause, and chants of “Sarah! Sarah! Sarah!” from the crowd.
“Well, good, it’s a deal. We’ll take the job,” Palin added after the applause died down.

You talk about Joe the Plumber, Bob the builder, the florist, the hairdresser... well what are you going to do for Joe the UNEMPLOYED!!! Enough with the Joe's. You talk about reform and shakin' up Washington. How about some specifics on how you plan to reform and shake up DC. It's easy to say but how are you going to do it??

Sarah is CAMPAIGNING FOR McCain.......
And DOING IT WELL!!
Echoing Broadway Joe is BRILLIANT!
The people trying to denigrate her by saying she's launching her 2012 campaign are LYING DNC LOSERS!!!

On the morning of 11/5, Sarah Palin will be an old washed-up politician. How the American people could ever, EVER, trust this woman in the White House after her miserably pathethic performance on the national stage to date, is beyond imagination. But yet, the American people did vote for "W" twice so anything is possible. I just really don't want to be around to live it should it ever EVER occur. There are far more respectable and knowledgeable Republicans to run in 2012 than Sarah Palin.
Obama/Biden 2008!!!! Real change!

Attention fools: A lot of polls show McCain-Palin roaring back on Obama-Biden. Just check out IBDeditorials.com, which most accurately predicted the 2004 race. Obama by 1 point.

Palin will run on the Moose Party ticket in 2012.

I no longer care what McCain says or thinks and I have never cared what Palin says or thinks. He is too old and has shown himself to be absolutely bonkers by how he is campaigning and of course for his choice of an airhead like Palin. What an insult to the American people.

Don't write McCain off yet! I'm banking the good people of America have enough common sense to pick Serious Maverick Experience for the Whitehouse!

“And I hope Joe won’t mind if I paraphrase him some in this state, his home state, Pennsylvania, with your help, we’re going to win this state. I guarantee it,” Palin said
Nice try ABC but Palin did not guarantee a win. She said with your help... way to twist her words to make her sound bad.

As a republican I say is Sarah Palin the best we can do??? Folks as a republican for over 40 yrs, I will be casting my vote for Obama for the fist time I will cross party lines and vote for the best team and that is Barack Obama and Joe Biden. I just dont know anyone voting for McCain. The man looks and act ill and I dont want to wake up and have clueless Sarah Palin running this country. I urge all responsible republicans to cross party lines and vote for the Obama.

Yet another McCain-damning endorsement--this time by the New York Times.

I keep asking myself...why her kids travel with her all the time? Do they go to school at all? or do they get exclusive education? or Are the Alaska's citizen paying for it? Or Is she abusing of her power again? from Jockey Mom to Tricky Mom. I used to love her but now I have many doubts.....

Can we please send Joe packing? And can he take this stupid chick with him?

Did Joe the plumber get a stimulus check while owing the government $1200.00 in back taxes? He has two names, who's looking into that? One name got the check and the other ivades taxes.

Please don't insult thomas jefferson by using his name - he was a democrat - and remind McCain that Hoover was a Republican and a flunkie like him
Posted by: ANNE | Oct 23, 2008 10:36:18 PM
Hey, Palin how about Joe the designer, the one you spent all that donated money on?
or maybe Joe the hotelier and Joe the travel agent, that you padded your kids travel against when you defrauded Alaska.

Why is it SOCIALISM to level the playing field and give tax relief to the middle class, but it's PATRIOTIC to shift the tax burden to the people who can least afford it, in order to make the rich richer? Twisted!
Posted by: winnie47 | Oct 23, 2008 10:37:16 PM
I think these people that are yelling "socialist" are mentally deficient. Unless they are hugely wealthy they are the RECIPIENT of the wealth spreading, not the donors. I guess people think that roads, public schools, student loans for college & emergency services just kinda show up or that the taxes from their pitiful $40,000 per year jobs pays for all of that. WAKE UP PEOPLE

McCain / Palin '08'----DREAM ON BABY! You are smoking some gooooood grass. The good people of America have had enough of the Republican re-distribution of wealth to corporations and the well-to-do. We are ready to re-distribute that wealth back the 95% of the population. Travis--Obviously that poll is really twisted. How can it be right when every single other poll has Obama up by many points, even Fox News? You're smoking the same stuff as McSame/Payless.

Gallup reports 13% of registered voters saying they will vote for the first time in 2008 - same as 2004. So where are the large numbers of new voters? Only 11% using Gallup’s likely voter model.
Bad news for Libs... heh heh
