Palin Touts 'Tito the Builder'

ABC News' Imtiyaz Delawala reports: Move over, “Joe the Plumber.” “Tito the Builder” is on the trail.

Campaigning across the state of Virginia today, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin was introduced at three rallies by small business owners concerned about Sen. Barack Obama's tax policies -- including Tito Munoz, a northern Virginia construction company owner who has become a staple of Palin’s speeches across the country.

“Good morning, Virginia. I am Tito Munoz, but you can call me Tito the Builder. That's what I have been called by two great Americans who stand for freedom, and they are John McCain and Sarah Palin,” Munoz told a crowd in Leesburg, VA this morning. “I am very proud to be here today. I'm proud to be an American citizen, a hard worker, a McCain-Palin supporter.”

Munoz met McCain at a rally last week in Woodbridge, VA where he complained to the Republican presidential nominee about what he considered the media's unfair treatment of Joe Wurzelbacher, made famous in the final presidential debate as “Joe the Plumber.”

Since then, Palin has mentioned Munoz on the trail in most of her speeches, dubbing him “Tito the Builder” and using his story to expand her argument over the impact of Obama’s tax plans other everyday Americans.

Munoz, wearing an orange construction vest and yellow hard hat plastered with McCain campaign stickers, told the Leesburg crowd, “I have so much things to say about this great country. I have so much things that I want to say about free enterprise and hard work. Everything we stand for is in danger by higher taxes and less freedom. Everything we stand for is made stronger by people like you, like John McCain and Sarah Palin.”

Palin thanked Munoz for his introduction, joking that “not since the Jackson Five has the name Tito been used so often.”

Palin explained Munoz' story of meeting McCain and his criticism of the treatment of Wurzelbacher, saying, “Tito wants to know, and I quote, he asked, he says, ‘Why the heck are you going after Joe the Plumber? Joe the Plumber has an idea. He has a future. He wants to be something else. Why is that so wrong?’”

“So Tito, a U.S. citizen who's an immigrant from Colombia, he had this reminder for us,” Palin added. “He says, ‘Everything is possible in America. Joe the Plumber could make it even bigger than me.’ Tito said, ‘I was born in Colombia but I was made in the USA.’”

Today was the first time that Munoz appeared in person with Palin. Wurzelbacher has yet to appear on the campaign trail with McCain or Palin, but will campaign for the ticket in Ohio on Tuesday alongside former White House Budget Director Rob Portman.

At two outdoor rallies later in the day, Palin was introduced by other small business owners who expressed concerns over Obama’s tax proposals. Palin soldiered on through a steady rain that started falling halfway through her rally in Fredericksburg, VA this afternoon, and braved chilly temperatures in Salem, VA this evening.

“And Virginia, by the way, this is so beautiful out here tonight and I love the weather because it reminds me of home,” the Alaska native told a crowd of thousands filling a high school football stadium in Salem, VA this evening.

After her swing through Virginia, Palin will spend Tuesday campaigning across western Pennsylvania, holding two solo rallies and two joint rallies with McCain.

I guess she couldn't come out and say that Tito (and Joe) would be paying less taxes under Obama than McCain, and under McCain, their increased taxes would be to offset the cuts to the wealthy.. hmmm.. and I guess she couldn't come out and tell Tito that the American Small Business League supports Obama and not McCain and has said:

"President of the ASBL Lloyd Chapman added, "I am so tired of being disappointed by our elected officials. For the first time in many years I am genuinely excited about this election. In my life, I have never been more excited about any politician than I am about Barack Obama. I believe that he holds the key to a new future for all Americans. I believe that with Sen. Obama in the White House, Americans are going to be more proud of this country than they have ever been in their lives."

So I guess she could just do what she seems to do best, lie.

MY FRIENDS,

November 4th 2008 will be upon us soon and before the day is over we will have made history in these United States; we will have had the privilege of voting for Barack Obama, our next President.

How nice will it be not seeing another commercial or having to listen to Diva Sarah shooting from the hip. I see that the lips are moving but I can't understand what the hell she is talking about.

To November 5th, 2008!

Wow, the gimmicks continue. This is almost surreal. Are they kidding me? Tito the builder? What about Juanita the waitress?
It's no surprise though considering how far they're down in the polls. All they have left is gimmicks.

I looked at the current electoral college picture and how race and ethnicity might play into each state here:

My friends, here is THE QUESTION JOHN MCCAIN FEARS:

Sen. McCain, are you today willing to come out against all forms of 'redistributing the wealth', including:

A) the progressive tax code
B) Social Security
C) Medicare
D) unemployment insurance
E) all local property taxes
F) all local sales taxes

FOLLOW UP QUESTION:

Are you, John McCain, a socialist, or merely a demagogue for pretending that your opponent is more of a socialist than you?

Posted by: John | Oct 28, 2008 1:28:20 AM

Ahhh, liberals are out in force tonight.Must be because it's close to halloween. So you are now calling mccain a socialist ehh?Well lets examine that,Obama wants to redistribute wealth(which is socialist),mccain wants to cut taxes across the board(not socialist),obama uses class warfare(socialist),mccain lays out what he wants to do(not socialist),obama wants to deny my 2nd amendment rights(socialist)mccain wants to protect my 2nd amendment rights(American).Obama will not recite the Pledge of Alleciance and/or place his hand over his heart while it is being said. And he has said multiple times that he is a muslim. While it would not really bother me,if he was not trying to destroy my country with his socialist ways,if he is a muslim the faact is he has LIED about it time and time again. And the media covers it up.He is a liar and a sociaist. You cannot deny it because it is cold hard fact.

Hey watcher,a little early to go poping the cork.He has not won yet and most likely will not.

Posted by: Obama for Latrine Cleaner '08 | Oct 28, 2008 2:15:24 AM

How would Obama handle a situation, like some terrorist would destroy a few big oil tankers on the open sea, and would leave us without heat for our homes, and no gas for our cars and trucks, and people will will have no food in the stores, no jobs etc. Will he sit down with the terrorist, and have a tea with them?

Oh yes un-concerned un-american,we will be very proud of the United States of America.Unfortunatly if Barack Hussien Obama II is elected it will cease to exist.Replaced by the ASPR,American Soviet Peoples Republic.

Joe was a fake, Tito probably is too. No problem - its all prep for her next campaign in 2012. Palin is already planning to run the Skinhead, gun-crazy Rapturist, Limbaugh-loving remnants of the Republican Party. Rats leaving a sinking ship.

When I first saw Sarah Palin at the convention I thought she was outstanding but the more I see of her the sicker I get. If I never hear the words, Joe the Plumber, Tito the Builder, Sarah the joke or John the Looser "in that high pitched squeaky voice" again it will be too soon.

Palin is a LIAR and it is being reported that she is even stabbing McCain in the back now - she has gone rouge!

Rouge is most commonly used when an elephant with lipstick goes wild!
