Richardson: Bill Clinton 'Wants to Keep a Grudge'
October 09, 2008 2:06 PM
ABC News' Teddy Davis and Hope Ditto report: New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson told National Public Radio Thursday that he has not patched things up with Bill Clinton since going against his wife and endorsing Barack Obama for president.
"Have I heard from President Clinton? No. It could be a pretty much, a permanent fissure," Richardson told NPR's "Morning Edition." "But that’s politics, that’s OK. I did what I thought was best for the country. I’m still very fond of the Clintons. I’ve reconciled with her, but with him, he wants to keep a grudge, that’s fine with me. I move on. I’m governor of New Mexico. I’m happy where I am.”
Richardson, who made an unsuccessful run for the 2008 Democratic presidential nomination, served in the Clinton administration as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations and later as Secretary of Energy.
Despite his long association with the Clintons, he endorsed Obama on March 21, 2008. Audio from Richardson's interview is available at: www.NPR.org

As a native New Mexican and a democrat who voted for Bill Richardson, I have some idea of his self- concerned ways. He is looking for a job in the next administration and would have endorsed Hillary had he felt that she would have been the democratic nominee. His concern is about himself only. Bill Richardson does not have decency to talk about about the importance of Bill Clinton in propelling him to the national spotlight. He would be nowhere without Bill Clinton.

Its odd and very sad to hear that , it seems Bill clinton have a very thin skin which is surprising in the world of politics.
he should have said iam a big boy it didn't happen for my wife, but i will go gang buster for the other family member and make sure he is elected its in the best interest for all of us. . after all they are all Democrats.
Hillary has gone out there and done great and is putting the message out ,Who knows! Barack can nominate her to be the NEXT Madame Justice.
Until such time i would like to see her get harry reid position.
Bill richardson has done well by Barack and and will get a nice cushy gig in his admin if he so desire.

Just because Bill Richardson supported for the person whom he thought would best serve the Country as President, does not mean he is a "traitor". You Repugs just don't get it. You get in lock step with your party and that's the final choice. No disagreement, just follow the lemmings to their destruction, just like you have done with McCain/Palin. At least Democrats make choices based on their conscience and not "loyalty".

Misleading headline, and quote. I heard Richardson on NPR this morning, and the "grudge" part wasn't a statement, it was a QUESTION. it should have been written out as either:
"I’ve reconciled with her, but with him,[if] he wants to keep a grudge, that’s fine with me. I move on."
or
"I’ve reconciled with her, but with him, he wants to keep a grudge? that’s fine with me. I move on."
Please do your homework, maybe listen to the person you're quoting, before attempting to "report" something.

Obama Calls McCain Mortgage Plan ‘Risky’. Obama said the "surge" would not work! Obama doesn't want anything to help America...don't bring the troops to come home before he is elected...Obama is FIRST, not America. Vote Obama, crash America.

Governor Richardson must miss the national lime light, because he keeps talking about President Clinton every chance he gets. I gave money to Bill Richardson's campaign when he was running for president. However, after he dropped off, and waited so very, very long to endorse, I knew that he was a "vendido" and would endorse Senator Obama but only for his own self-interest. As a blogger said before, after his term as governor is over, he can forget politics. Governor Richardson is unreliable and untrustworthy. You don't bite the hand that fed you.

Richardson is traitor and and snake...
I lost any respect for him.....
I'm an ex-democrat,and i left the party
for good the day Hillary dropped-out
from the race........
Best choice is:
McCAIN/PALIN '08

momof4boys: Maybe you better get the message that we don't want a president that had ties to a terrorist that killed people in this country after his bombing. Think about it. And got away with. I am glad its all out in the open for people that are true Americans of this country get to know the real Obama has has been hidden too long. It may have been a long time ago but its not too lake to bring it. Voters should know who their voting for unless their anti-american like Obama was and Ayers is.

Mercedes: You are so right. Richardson thought he would get a job in Obama's administration if elected. Well, he got fooled. Ayers is replacing him. Obama said he knew nothing about Ayers when he met him in l995. Don't take bets on it. Obama was a racist, anti-american at that time. And that's another reason he joined a racist church. Michele belongd to a racist organization before she met Obama. He doesn't deserve to be the president of this country.

It is so heartening to see how much you Republican's are willing to defend your dire and most successful nemesis(es).
Wonders never cease.
The way this is going I expect to see both the Clintons on the 2012 Republican ticket.
THAT'S change we can use!!!
Posted by: ren | Oct 9, 2008 2:50:30 PM
So Mariann, what you are saying is that half this country is anti-american. Nice.
Posted by: Just Wondering | Oct 9, 2008 2:50:38 PM
Richardson credibility is lost. Nobody can trust him. Issue is not of endorsing Obama but principle. He was not honest when he was interacting with ex-President Bill Clinton.
How can Obama also trust this guy who is say something in front of you and do something in the back?
Posted by: Tim | Oct 9, 2008 2:51:10 PM
When have the Clintons done anything for anyone other than themselves.

In case you moron were still a piece of stone in the 1990s, for your education, the Clinton Administration brought about an unprecedented period of peace and prosperity in the history of this country.
Your grand parents' retirement account, since you were still unborn in view of your lack of any knowledge of that time, doubled.
What is your phony Nothingness going to do? He promises to give you $1000 bucks to buy your vote, and he thinks that's gonna bring back your parents' 50%-less retirement account today.

You know that riot threat was used even when BO was running against Hillary. Sounds to me as if the BO camp is worried.
I noticed also that Zogby has said to ignore the current polls claiming BO will win by a landslide.
I believe that the McCain/Palin ticket will win — because I don’t think BO & cronies can continue to suppress the facts.

sam: Yes, they are all democrat dogs along with Nancy Pelosi, Dean and Reid. But I hope they lick their wounds after the election because it is going to very close. I watched the rally with McCain and Palin today and they drew the crowds. McCain got several standing ovations. People don't want to hear the truth especially blacks. After Obama is half black and they would vote for him even if he was a criminal.

Just the fact that Richardson is going public with this kind of info shows he is not really a friend of Bill Clinton's. A true friend in politics does not go on a national media outlet to complain about the other's refusal to kiss and make up.

I really don't care for either presidential candidate. While admire Senator McCaine very much, he is inarticulate and does not have the ability to speak as well as Senator Obama. You have to actively listen to him to understand his points of view. However, I trust him, he has experience and knowledge and I think he understands what we need at this point and time. Senator Obama is a wonderful orator and he speaks extremely well. I actively listen to what he says, however, he speaks in generalities, as of yet, and I have been listening and watching him for months on end, he still has not discussed issues in detail regarding what he would do specifically regarding the economy and other important issues. Lets see, he will not raise taxes, on the contrary, he will reduce taxes for the middle class. I would like to know where he will be getting all this money from for education, repair to our ifrastructure, medical insurance for everyone, the peace corp, etc,. Sounds like pie in the sky and a chicken in every pot to me. God help us all. I have been a voting democrat all of my life. With great reluctance, I will vote for McCaine.

to dl. If you think people are stupid and do not learn anything then I think you need to go back to Kindergarden and learn to respect the views of fellow Americans. Don't be like Obama who says weak goes to Religions and blah blah.
Posted by: Tim | Oct 9, 2008 2:59:24 PM
some of you seem fixated on how the Clintons feel. Who cares? As you've seen judging by the poles, the Clintons are over and Bill in particular seems to be invisible. It's gratifying to know that Obama doesn't need that clown! It must be killing him to see that his luke warm support has not slowed Obama's momentum!
